all of the ones that aren't five stars

Quarterbacks seem to get ranked too early in HS and stay "range bound" through their senior year and camp circuit. Coaches clearly see something that the ratings do not. I am excited to have him on the team.

He should be a 6 star.

Fred Jackson with his best description yet.

If there's one thing I really miss about the old days of Michigan Football, is having a consistent, big time wide receiver. or hell, a couple of them.
Obviously we always had the workhorse running backs, one after another for a long time.. but WR was always consistent too over they years. Here's to hoping this season starts that same trend again.

Jeremy Gallon
February 5th, 2014 at 1:43 PM ^
He doesn't count because he's short.
February 5th, 2014 at 5:44 PM ^
I think the team's overall performance colors the interpretation of everything else. Through no fault of his own, Gallon loses some shine and doesn't sit as high in the pantheon as his numbers suggest he should.

Freddy Canteen
February 5th, 2014 at 12:51 PM ^
I agree. His unusual high school situation seems to have deflected attention from him. To go with his route-running props, he is both big and fast. Very excited about him (and our other two receivers).
February 5th, 2014 at 1:17 PM ^
Maybe it's because I see a little of the Jeremy Gallon Cloak Device in him, I don't know. But as long as his hands are solid, I see him wreaking havoc in the backfied. It certainly doesn't look like he'll have an issue getting open.
February 5th, 2014 at 1:44 PM ^
Seconded. My (extremely untrained, biased) opinion is that he will have a Manningham-esque freshman season.

IIRC Canteen is destined to be a slot and those guys are always "underrated" because all receivers get lumped into the same category with guys like Drake Harris, Dorial Green-Beckham, etc. We're needing a slot receiver now so he's going to get a good number of looks in his career (I'm assuming)
Brandon Watson also seemed to be really impressing in the fw games they got to play this year but he remained solidly off-the-radar

Brady Pallante. Sorry, I just love state champion wrestlers-turned college defensive tackles.

Mike Martin as well, IIRC

Sorry. Had to do it.

Terrance Taylor, too.

Michigan so desperately needs a big strong body in the middle, it would be great if young Brady was to have a break out career.

Lawrence Marshall. I think Rivals has him as a 3 star. Going to be a great rush end, just needs some more weight. High ceiling.
February 5th, 2014 at 12:33 PM ^
Im also putting my vote in for Canteen. He is quick as lightning and will fill a void at the slot position. Being an EE is obviously a huge advantage, and I will be shocked if he does have some type of positive impact in week 1.

Chase Winovich. JMFR sorts of potential
February 5th, 2014 at 12:33 PM ^
But I'm going with Bryan "Count De" Mone.

Jared Wangler. Perhaps in the mold of Jake Ryan.
February 5th, 2014 at 12:37 PM ^
I totally see it. He's going to be a good one.
February 5th, 2014 at 5:05 PM ^
he doesn't have the frame or pass rush skills that JMFR had in HS. Heck he was a safety until this year and he didn't play much this year. I know they expect him to grow into an LB, but how about Kovacks? I would gladly take that production from Wangler.
February 5th, 2014 at 12:33 PM ^
I really like Brandon Watson, who covered much higher rated recievers like glue at camps, and Wilton Speight (Borges found a good one there)
February 5th, 2014 at 1:54 PM ^
He was the #1 performer at the Pennsylvania SWAG 7-on-7 tournament that included: Canteen, Godwin (PSU), Nicholson (MSU), Samuel (OSU) and Sills (USC).
February 5th, 2014 at 2:06 PM ^
I think he could go all Richard Sherman on people here.

The size-speed combo could create enticing mismatches. And he's a grown-ass man--looks like he's 26 already.

No love for Brady Pallante?
February 5th, 2014 at 12:58 PM ^
Except for the whole discussion above about him and high school state champion wrestlers.
February 5th, 2014 at 1:09 PM ^
I wrote that while someone was posting about Pallante, just after the thread was started. I suppose I could have edited it into something else to save face, but that wouldn't be honest, would it?
I posted just after he posted his and it became a discussion, which is pretty much what I wanted. Unless there's some way I can delete my comments untimely redundancy, I have No complaints.
