Nuss Press Conference
January 10th, 2014 at 11:18 AM ^
Ha! He mentioned the Braylon game.
January 10th, 2014 at 11:19 AM ^
I just got an alert on my computer and almost shattered my eardrums. Full volume with headphones is risky!
January 10th, 2014 at 12:12 PM ^
I accidentally started playing my iTunes before I turned it back down! ...
It was loud

January 10th, 2014 at 11:19 AM ^
Do I need to purchase a PSL to be able to hear sound? Did Brandon send an email?
January 10th, 2014 at 11:28 AM ^
That's exactly it, and every one of you who complains about poor sound is revealing yourself to be the cheap, unloyal fan we suspected you always were.
January 10th, 2014 at 12:10 PM ^
Sound (all sound related to Michigan athletics as far as we know) is sold through the Athletic Department website.

January 10th, 2014 at 11:20 AM ^
Just turned the Windows volume to maximum and wore a set of noise-cancelling headphone. Finally I could hear clearly what Nussmeier is saying and about 70% of the reporters' questions.
January 10th, 2014 at 11:39 AM ^
and he said...
January 10th, 2014 at 11:20 AM ^
January 10th, 2014 at 11:22 AM ^
I can hear maybe 10% of what he's saying. Can NEVER hear the questions, even with no volume issues.
January 10th, 2014 at 11:23 AM ^
It's about Jimmie's and Joe's not X's and O's....lol
January 10th, 2014 at 11:24 AM ^
will anyone be transcribing or did that die when heiko decided to go do boring things like fix people's health?
January 10th, 2014 at 11:25 AM ^
January 10th, 2014 at 12:46 PM ^
Yes, Heiko, how can you be so selfish? MGoUsers need you.
January 10th, 2014 at 11:28 AM ^
In additon to the other quotes mentioned, I found these interesting:
--Philosophy is to put playmakers in the best positions to succeed.
--Will run the ball;
--His philosophy is consistent with that of Hoke or else he wouldn't be here;
--Could see drastically different formations from week to week, depending upon what is best against a particular D;
--Need to put QBs in as close to game situations as possible before Saturdays;
--Players need to be self-starters off the field given the limitations on time with coaches;
--Minimize penalties on offense and negative plays - no presnap penalies, loss of yardage plays, sacks;
--Impressed with the young talent on the roster;
--Green, Dawson, Morris called out specifically as examples of the talent on the team that he recruited at Bama.
January 10th, 2014 at 11:47 AM ^
I like him.
January 10th, 2014 at 11:48 AM ^
I have to imagine this was a huge selling point to him.
- Last OC unpopular
- Last of the attrition classes are graduating
- Look at all these great classes I have who are all in their 3rd year or less
It's going to be pretty simple for him to make himself look like a genius. Gotta be attractive, especially for a guy still looking to work his way up the coaching ladder
January 10th, 2014 at 12:51 PM ^
...was a head coach who will let him do his job.
That's probably Hoke's single most important positive characteristic. He's got a reputation for being a great boss; people want to work for him.
January 10th, 2014 at 1:05 PM ^
And that, my friends, is how we got Alabama's Offensive Coordinator.
Like when everyone thinks Google is a glamor job. Looks great from the outside, but not always so great from the inside.
Next time you go to work on a gloomy Monday morning, imigane that the boss that greets you is Nick Saban. You will understand how Nuss was willing to come to a place like Michigan.
January 10th, 2014 at 12:36 PM ^
is that he has to say that his philosophy is to put the playmakers in the best position to succeed. One would think that all coaches would want to do that.
January 10th, 2014 at 12:52 PM ^
...if it weren't true.
January 10th, 2014 at 2:35 PM ^
And he wouldn't be here if the last OC believed in it...
January 10th, 2014 at 3:03 PM ^
I didn't shed any tears over the change, in fact I'm excited, but let it go man. By all accounts, Al is a good man...just didn't work out. I know it's early so comments like yours will continue for awhile...and I'm planning to neg every one I see.
In short, let's embrace the positive.
January 10th, 2014 at 11:27 AM ^
January 10th, 2014 at 11:33 AM ^
He's obviously been talking to DB and hasn't seen any game film yet. We were 11 points from 11-1? We were also 11 points from not making a bowl game.
January 10th, 2014 at 11:35 AM ^
January 10th, 2014 at 11:50 AM ^
Heck, we weren't far from getting a whole new coaching staff. If he had lost the some combination of the UConn, Akron, and/or Northwestern games, I bet we'd be in full blown coaching search mode right now
Brady can thank Drew Dileo's sick baseball sliding technique
January 10th, 2014 at 12:38 PM ^
And Desmond Morgan borrowing Gallon's jet boots.
January 10th, 2014 at 11:58 AM ^
January 10th, 2014 at 12:00 PM ^
That's a coach speak thing. I'm sure they're well aware that it could have been worse.
They keep saying it for confidence/optimism/the sky is NOT falling reasons.
January 10th, 2014 at 12:56 PM ^
What would he possibly gain by shitting on his predecessor's results in his opening press conference though? Maybe it's time for both you and your avatar to stop beating that poor horse.
January 11th, 2014 at 12:02 AM ^
This is fun
OSU was 11 points from being in the national championship game
(MSU was 5 points from being undefeated and in the national championship game)
Wisconsin was 11 points from being 11-1 and winning the Leaders Division
Akron was 11 points from being 7-5 and going to a bowl game
And actually, Michigan would have needed 15 more points to have an 11-1 season (4 more vs Penn State, 5 more vs. Nebraska, 4 vs. Iowa, and 2 vs. osu). 11 more points would have just tied each of these 4 teams. Or you could argue it only took 1 more point to beat Penn State in regulation; then the total would be 12 points.
Take away 11 points from Auburn and Alabama wins the SEC West and Auburn is out of the BCS bowls entirely
January 10th, 2014 at 11:28 AM ^
Nuss had no interest in describing the timeline that led to his hiring at Michigan. He kept saying "recently," but I think it's fairly obvious that this began much earlier.
January 10th, 2014 at 11:33 AM ^
completely, and you have to love reporters rephrasing the same question so he answers slightly different but the same each time. I really like the guy.
January 10th, 2014 at 11:30 AM ^
I miss Heiko. Do we know who will be asking technical schematic questions for MGoBlog at the pressers this coming year?
January 10th, 2014 at 12:13 PM ^
Wait, is he gone? If so, when did this happen?
January 10th, 2014 at 12:29 PM ^
or a fellowship. Either way, he ditched us to concentrate on being a better Doctor and saving lives. The nerve.
January 10th, 2014 at 12:38 PM ^
give this up just to be a Doctor. To each his own, I suppose.
January 10th, 2014 at 1:07 PM ^
Selfish bastard.
January 10th, 2014 at 3:14 PM ^
Nurse: "Doctor, I think the medication in this patient's IV has started to coagulate and I'm concerned one of these bubbles may enter the bloodstream."
Doctor Heiko: "Well, did you use the bubble screen like I told you?"
January 10th, 2014 at 4:34 PM ^
This is phenomenal and needs more upvotes. Great pun.
January 10th, 2014 at 11:31 AM ^
Glad others experienced it - I just had a bit of a swear - fest
January 10th, 2014 at 11:31 AM ^
No image of Nuss nor any audio.
For all the money DB has plowed into the athletic dept. you'd think they could do a better job of managing their communications.
January 10th, 2014 at 11:32 AM ^
It's over.
January 10th, 2014 at 11:42 AM ^
January 10th, 2014 at 2:10 PM ^
Cursor through and you'll eventually get to the talking people.
Then use earphones all the way up and hope no other program's audio interrupts you and destroys your eardrums.
January 10th, 2014 at 11:32 AM ^
I like his approach and the Alabama fans that I know seem to really like him.
January 10th, 2014 at 11:32 AM ^
I like him. There was a ton of coach speak about how mighty the Big Ten is and how we were so close to being good this year, but other than that he seems excited and eager to start. I'm definitly much more excited for next year now.
