Yes. As I have written above…

Yes. As I have written above, maybe Moore doesn’t think much of the ability of Clink or Elston to be DC. He coaches against them in practice. He sees how they run drills. Maybe Moore does not want to hitch his head coaching success to their ability (inability) to be DC.

I think this really shows…

I think this really shows that Moore doesn’t think Clink is DC material at this time. In regards to Elston, he left before Wink was hired. Perhaps Elston saw the writing on the wall, or he was not willing to wait while Moore was doing his due diligence.

I think this says a lot…

I think this says a lot about what Moore thinks of Clink as a defensive coordinator- that despite being here for 3 years under 2 mentors, Clink is not ready for the DC job.

If you just want a lake and not live on the Great Lakes, then you should look around Brighton. I have lived there and fished and boated on many of those lakes. Lots of choices from cottages to high-end homes. Close to Ann Arbor and the Detroit suburbs for restaurants and sophistication.

Deboer has never coached in the South.  Look at the failure of Harsin, by all accounts a good coach, at Auburn.  DeBoer is a very good coach, but he may find things are very different at Bama, and the expectations will be insane.  If I was DeBoer, I would pull a Frames with Washington- parlay the interest into a big money extension.

Thank you for the eloquent post.

It is a reminder to me of a saying that I too infrequently follow because of all the distractions in life, “Happiness is a journey, not a destination.”

Enjoy each and every good season because bad seasons will happen as well. Just like in life.

We should win this game…

We should win this game. Penix had an A+ game against Texas (and his receivers did, too).  Washington still barely won. If we can hold him to a B+, even A-, game, we should be able to score more against their average defense. It just seems as if Washington had the game of their life against Texas and still barely prevailed. If we play our game and limit mistakes, we should win and possibly win handily. Go Blue!

Riley sticking with Alex Grinch for so long really nosedived his defense. I am also unimpressed with hiring away a defensive coordinator from an underwhelming UCLA team. I thought Jim Leonhard or some other bonafide defensive coordinator would be next at USC. Perhaps Lincoln did not want a former head coach on staff that might replace him should the wheels continue to fall off.

Drinking an Eisbock, “Bad Santa” 12.5% from Bayern Brewery in Missoula while eating grilled prime beef tenderloin, sautéed mushrooms/onions/garlic, and Caesar salad while watching the local Grizz football team win in OT. Will be watching the Redwings and Lions on DVR while drinking a Smith-Woodhouse tawny port (the best and only available from Costco) for the rest of the night.  Life is good. Go Blue!

It’s interesting that…

It’s interesting that Michigan looks to have the 13th most talent. I thought we were recruiting better than this and were at least top ten. Based on this and the eye test, our results are very good, but it would be helpful to get at least top 10 overall talent. Top 5 would be even better and should be our goal. It would give us some cushion for players that don’t live up to the expectations, get injured or transfer.

Yes. Why can’t we run a simple play-action pass?  It seems as if we run more flea flickers than play-action passes. We should run a play-action pass on at least every other set of downs considering how often we run the ball.

I read most of your columns…

I read most of your columns although I am not a big believer of the supernatural; however, I do enjoy your explanations/ interpretations and your enthusiasm.

I have a question about the manner/logistics of your cards. Your cards are always shown and read as upright. I have seen some readers have the cards either upright or upside down. The readers often interpret the upside down cards as temporizing or “softening” the meaning or at times giving it the opposite meaning. For example, upside down death is not death, but a bad event. Is this just personal preference of the reader of the cards? Are there different “schools” of interpretation?

For this game, my friend,…

For this game, my friend, another UM grad, and I were driving back from duck hunting on the Saginaw Bay. We started listening to the game on the radio in the third quarter. The score was bad, but we were used to the occasional, inexplicable loss to a Sparty team with less talent. We continued to listen and were amazed at how Michigan’s fortunes changed for the better. Even on the radio, it was clear that Henne was just chucking the ball up, and Braylon was making great catches. The excitement of the game really came through on the radio. It is funny how much I used to listen to sports on the radio (Michigan, Redwings, Pistons…), and now I never do. That game is a great memory.

Recently, I was in Argentina…

Recently, I was in Argentina. We were with another couple. I book all of my flights on line. They used a travel agent. All of us had to change domestic flights by Aerolineas Argentina. He emailed his travel agent, and the change was made with no more effort on his part. I had to call a local number, sit on hold, speak with someone who spoke as poor of English as I spoke Spanish. My time, the cost of the call, being able to make an international call, and the change fee were a big pain. It was an extreme effort and time spent by me compared to a simple email.
So, for certain situations a travel agent may be useful. If you will be in the Alaskan bush with Wi-Fi only, it may be simpler to have a travel agent and email them for assistance then to have to spend the time and figure out all the logistics on your own.

Your story made me think of…

Your story made me think of Maggie’s Song by Chis Stapleton. Here’s a particularly relevant excerpt to your experience:

…I had a revelation
As the tractor dug a hole
I can tell you right now
That a dog has a soul

And I thought to myself
As we buried her on the hill
I never knew me a better dog
And I guess I never will…

We have a 2 year old dog with lymphoma. Chemo treatments for the last 6 months. She’s doing exceptionally well, but it is only a matter of time. Enjoy dogs and your human loved ones while you can.

How are we set at linebacker?  To me, this seems like an urgent need as we have very little depth. Also, I did not realize how grim CB looks if we lose some players to the NFL.

Hey Sopwith, we are still…

Hey Sopwith, we are still waiting for the final installment of “Covid Sharpies.”  Just kidding. I am sure it is a lot of time and effort.

He really set himself back…

He really set himself back by making that “lateral” move to Miami. He would have been a top candidate as a head coach if he had stayed at Michigan since we are likely to finish the season with less than 3 losses. Now, he may get fired and have to restart at the bottom of the ladder and work his way back up to his current level.

Hurricane fans thought they might only have one year of him

The Puzzler’s Dilemma by…

The Puzzler’s Dilemma by Derrick Niederman is a short, fun read. I am not into puzzles/gaming much, but I found this an interesting read about the thought and logic that goes into creating crosswords/puzzles/thought exercises and strategies to best find solutions.

It seemed as if they scouted…

It seemed as if they scouted us, and said, “We have a tailback pass in the playbook, we should use it.”  They used some of our clever plays against us. Our 2 point conversion was a clever play. Why not use it earlier when we could have potentially gotten back in the game. Running the reverse would have been great rather than faking it and getting McNamara sacked. They used quick passes to the outside.  We should have done that to minimize their huge defensive line. I thought that Harbaugh would have a few tricks/twists up his sleeve- as in the Neck Sharpies that were done after the Citrus Bowl with Alabama. We seemed to think that our “Joe Moore Offensive Line” would be able to handle their defensive line which turned out to be an unequivocal “No.”  We seemed to be vanilla when you need to be creative as the underdog. But, it was a great season. Go Blue!

It was a disappointing game…

It was a disappointing game. It just seemed like we could not get any breaks. Although, good teams make their own breaks. It was a frustrating game. We just could never get over the hump. We would be close to stopping them, but they would convert the third down  Or, we could not convert the third down. We turned the ball over, and they did not. They clearly had more talent, and we could not make the plays necessary that an underdog must in order to win. Oh well, it was a great year. As Harbaugh said, it is just the beginning. Go Blue!

Exactly  whoever made those…

Exactly  whoever made those is tone deaf. Who would do a rematch of a blowout (OSU-MSU) then a guaranteed rematch with UM?  It makes no sense.  Of course, as presented, it looks like crap. But that is NOT a realistic representation of how a 12 team playoff would look. They are deliberately trying to make a12 team playoff look bad.

That could be the difference…

That could be the difference between a FAKE 4.3 and a real 4.55.

Such a great game and great season!  Whether ranked 1 or 2, the Committee will ensure we play Georgia. Go Blue!

That is an incredibly…

That is an incredibly succinct, yet thorough, explanation of the issues and considerations of the parties involved in the college football playoff expansion. You must be an insider, and I thank you for information.

My feelings on expansion is that it needs to be done as the 4 team playoff is not beneficial to college football. We have just seen a conglomeration of talent to a few, select teams. It makes the season less variable and fun. Also, it pained me to have the attitude before the OSU game that at least we will be going to the Rose Bowl if/when we lose. Going to the Rose Bowl was the GOAL, not a consolation prize. Bowl season was far more fun before the playoffs. The cat is already out of the bag in regards to a playoff, so we may as well have an expanded, more equitable format.

These distances and time are…

These distances and time are just such huge numbers.  That is why I think it is plausible that there is "life" elsewhere in the Universe, but it is just not possible for there to be alien visitation to Earth because the time and distances are too great.  For this sun and planet, 310 years is outside the lifespan of any organism on Earth, and nothing can travel at light speed except electromagnetic waves.  It is just not feasible for any aliens to be able to travel here to Earth.  But logic has never stopped people from their beliefs/conspiracy theories.
