Borges is Out
January 8th, 2014 at 5:16 PM ^
I recall reading that Damien Harris was a big Borges fan. Now I'm not trying to cause a panic, but I just remember reading that he and Borges talked quite a bit about the future of the offense and Harris was excited.

Link, or it never happened, my fellow Bronco

check out tomVH's twitter because he has already put up some reactions from commits and even Harris who seemed kinda disappointed but not like he was ready to jump ship and leave the wolverines

This is what a quick search provided, if I can find anything more definitive I'll certainly link it.

Harris is an elite talent, however, I'd rather have Borges out than have Harris in. One more season of Borges could've changed his mind anyways. Harris is supposed to have grown up a michigan fan so hopefully he still goes blue. I doubt whoever Hoke brings in is going to have a major philosophy change.

did he recruit at all--I mean it seriously?
January 8th, 2014 at 5:36 PM ^
players may leave because a position coach leaves or their main recruiter leaves so I don't think this will have any effect.

Not good to dance on Maize & Blue grave even if the firing is justified.

No need to disrespect Al. I am sure he gave it his all-we just need e new direction.

GET A BIG NAME EEEE!!!! YES THIS DESERVES ALL CAPS!!! From someone who said, don't fire anyone haha. GOD I HOPE WE GET A BIG NAME... *tries to stop jumping up and down*
January 8th, 2014 at 5:09 PM ^
But seriously imagine him and Mattison together with Hoke as head coach.
January 8th, 2014 at 5:16 PM ^
When we fired him I personally wanted us to make him OC(if his ego agreed), and bring someone else in. We had/have the money to have paid him a HC salary at OC. Hell I want us to bring someone in, steal a dude from the NFL for 2 million. B1G, Michigan has the money and I think it's time for DB to write the check, unless he's just a dragon hoarding his stash.
January 8th, 2014 at 7:18 PM ^
What head coach in their right mind would take a demotion to offensive coordiator at the school that just fired him? Rich Rod didn't succeed at Michigan but he was still a head coach and was clearly going to be a head coach somewhere else. There was no chance in hell ever that he would have been the OC here and even suggesting it to him would have been the equivalent of spitting in his face. And I'm not even a Rich Rod fan.

I take back any negative thing (even though there aren't many and most of them are very slight) I ever said about Hoke. He gets it.
SUDDENLY THINGS ARE LOOKING UP!!!!

Polar Vortex has consequences.

Apart from shrinkage?
"Vortex!" (in Col. Klink voice, with monocle and riding crop)

It was needed. More moves to come?
January 8th, 2014 at 6:59 PM ^
DB more than likely told Hoke to get rid of Borges. . .
January 8th, 2014 at 5:05 PM ^
Wow... I was sure this was a clickbait title. Nice find. How do you summarize the career of someone who was responsible for some of the best and worst offensive days at Michigan?
That does make me wonder if perhaps DB is taking a heavier hand on the reins.
January 8th, 2014 at 5:17 PM ^
I wonder if Brady made the decision, or Brandon did. I am very surprised by this move. I sincerely hope that the move was made solely for football performance on the field, and didn't have anything to do with slow psd renewals. I would hate to think Brandon's infuence is that pervasive.

Brandon put it to Hoke something like: if you keep Borges and struggle again in 2014, you're out. If you hire a new OC, you get a little more leeway.
I doubt DB would outright force him to fire his OC, and I don't think Hoke is a total moran either.
January 8th, 2014 at 5:04 PM ^
o.k. So who will replace him?
