Better to be a good coach and a not-so-good person than vice versa...

Just a thought, but the Athletic Department may have leaked that info on purpose to gauge the reaction. As we've seen with the PSU hiring process, "imminent" on Twitter should be taken with a tiny grain of salt.

Some guy on Bill King's radio show said Narduzzi interviewed and wanted the job, so he isn't totally a hesitant chickling unsure of leaving the nest.
January 8th, 2014 at 1:31 PM ^
Wow, Louisville is going to let him use their program as a stepping stone again? How nice of them.

Bobby Petrino = the gunk stuck on the bottom of the dumpster that requires bleach and a scrapping to remove.
January 8th, 2014 at 1:56 PM ^
You don't think an SEC school would take him again? He may end up getting another gig if he does well at Louisville again.
January 8th, 2014 at 4:50 PM ^
No, I don't believe any program worth leaving Louisville (now in the ACC, remember, and one of the better football schools in that conference already) for will want any part of him. Nor will the NFL. Petrino flamed out in such spectacular fashion at those levels that he will be stuck where he is forever.
January 8th, 2014 at 1:58 PM ^
Mike Riley is, by all accounts, a fine human being and loves Oregon State.
Bobby Petrino is not and has given zero indication over the course of his coaching career that he is ever satisfied at a particular organization.
January 8th, 2014 at 3:11 PM ^
January 8th, 2014 at 4:48 PM ^
Just to be clear, Riley only went to high school in Corvallis for like two years. Brady Hoke has deeper roots there
January 8th, 2014 at 2:45 PM ^
If he performs anything like he has in the past (we will have to wait to see), he's either going to build Louisville into a powerhouse (already pretty good), or will get an offer from a major program within a few years. His exit from Arkansas was clearly embarrassing, but don't underestimate how many people want a coach that can win and he's proven he can win.
January 8th, 2014 at 1:48 PM ^
What did you do (again)? I thought Profit got you bailed out and now I see you're back in the hole?
After your impassioned plea for clemency coupled with the outstanding legal counsel I'm sure Profit provided I'm a bit surprised to see that you are, perhaps, un-rehabitable.

Ok Bobby, now honestly, have you done anything really, really stupid?"
Bobby: Well maybe
No we mean really, really really, stupid.
Bobby: I wouldn't say that.
Ok. You're hired.

Narduzzi to Western Kentucky?
January 8th, 2014 at 1:43 PM ^
Not sure about that.
January 8th, 2014 at 1:38 PM ^
Will there be a specific clause about motorcyle riding / sharing / pooling / whatever in his contract? Probably one should take a closer look at the "Transportation" section.
January 8th, 2014 at 1:39 PM ^
Noooo Bobby.
January 8th, 2014 at 1:43 PM ^
Don't they know that John L. Smith is available? If your going to hire one of your former coaches that has flamed out at a number of jobs, isn't he the clear choice? We need more John L. Smith!
January 8th, 2014 at 4:48 PM ^
You don't hire JLS when things are going well; he's your guy when you need some comedy to distract the fanbase from the disgrace left behind by an ignominious firing.
John L. is their next coach, after Petrino.

Didn't Petrino have a restaurant fling a few years back too? Nice to know UL is cool with this type of behavior.
January 8th, 2014 at 1:54 PM ^
Actually, that was Pitino. Classy program.

Speaking of showing class, you may want to change your username.

When he took the WKU job, some talking head on Espan said, WKU knew it was only for a year or two -- before he did well enough to get hired by some other school.
It really puts the lie to what a UNIVERSITY football program is all about -- it's about money, if any of you have ignored the previous 1,231,345 indications of that point. Guy has no ethics and no credibility, and frankly probably broke state laws at Arkansas. He's a total sleezebag, as proven by his time at Atlanta and Arkansas and his prior jobs too. He even interviewed for a job at a school years ago when that school still had a coach (shame on that school too) (what that Auburn, I think, when Tubs was coach?). Yet... well, if he wins games, that's all that counts. This isn't about a public university, you know, actually trying to lead by example.
But that said... some of the coeds at UL are pretty hot.. he'll enjoy his time there. Before he moves on in 2-3 years to some bigger gig.
January 8th, 2014 at 4:35 PM ^
The best part is...WKU is going to make money on this hire. His contract was for something like 800k with a 1.2M buyout. Going 8-4 and 5th in your conference normally doesnt get you any bonus/escalators so that 800k figure should be about right for total compensation.

How about young buck falling off his motorcycle while in Detroit.
January 8th, 2014 at 1:49 PM ^
Sliminess (is that a word?) aside, Petrino is a proven college coach with a very successful track record. Assuming L'Ville put sufficient morality and early termination clauses in the contract, and assuming the fan base isn't too jaded by their previous experience with him, I think this is a pretty good hire.

Now we all remember ladyfriend not his wife #1.....
But let's not forget there was a SECOND ladyfriend not his wife involved too....

Who is that second one? She's out of his league for the most part, but money can be a powerful aphrodisiac.

Man, I sure wish I had your life.
For you to say, "she's not even very good looking," you clearly are dating Jennifer Lawrence or Jessica Alba or someone of that ilk. For 99% of us mortals, um, she'd be a massive upgrade.
January 8th, 2014 at 1:50 PM ^
Petrino is like some bad case of VD that wont go away and keeps coming back. It will be interesting to see what he will end up doing to embarrass himself and the university, for a third time in his career. That said, the guy is a winning coach....
January 8th, 2014 at 1:51 PM ^
Here's to a tenure full of mistresses on the payroll and crazy motorcycle rides.
January 8th, 2014 at 1:59 PM ^
says Gary Moeller's wife. Maybe you should take a spin with Petrino. I heard he found the fountain of youth.
January 8th, 2014 at 2:11 PM ^
Phuck. What about Narduzzi!
January 8th, 2014 at 2:11 PM ^
Well, dad is in favor of the move anyway. The paper in Louisville did a rather extensive interview of Bob Petrino, Sr. and he talked about how his son would like to give Louisville another go and how everyone deserves a second chance, in his opinion. The article is (HERE).
“I know Tom Jurich pretty well, and he’s a good man,” Bob Sr. said. “He works very hard. I just hope he can forgive my son.”
I suppose this means "Petrino At Louisville II: The Wrath Of Petrino" might become a thing with some marketing now.
"Bobby Petrino's contact exploded six months after he signed the extension. The shock shifted the trajectory of this program and everything was laid waste...."
January 8th, 2014 at 3:22 PM ^
This is hilarious because this will be the THIRD time Petrino is a member of the Louisville staff. He was previously the OC and left to be the Jaguars QB coach.
Clown suit on Louisville, no doubt. You can quickly tell a man's (or woman's) morals if they are in the 'I don't care, do whatever it takes to win' crowd.
January 8th, 2014 at 2:16 PM ^
They can sell that Petrino is a new man and learned from his mistakes.
January 8th, 2014 at 2:26 PM ^
That's odd, because I could have sworn that the Carl Pelini situation had something to do with leaves, but he got fired over it. I'm so confused.
