OT: Confess your unpopular opinions
A couple days ago a hashtag made the rounds on twitter that implored users to share opinions they have that aren't the most popular. We've had some quality confession threads in these parts before:
http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/ot-creepy-stories-featuring-story-turned-short
(That one about songs you like but are embarrased about that I can't find)
so let's hear it. What do you believe despite knowing that it's not a popular opinion? Team related or otherwise (yes, many people will want to retain Borges. Be creative).
I'll go first: I really enjoy a good black bean burger and frequently order them rather than beef burgers.

To list all the reasons would veer into the verboten land of politics and, like you, I in no way wish to argue with anyone. It's just, like, my opinion, man. But suffice it to say, I am not a fan of aggressive violence and the nonsense used to justify it.

that military action is only an extension of foreign policy and politics, right?
Don't blame that on the military...we're just doing our jobs.
NOT arguing, just friendly banter. :-)

I don't think JFK was completely serious when he called Harvard the "Michigan of the East".

I think Great Lakes Christmas Ale is not very good. For that matter, I don't like much Christmas Ale from any brewer.

Rose Tyler is the worst companion of the Doctor ever.
I also can't stand Judd Apatow, anything he's made, and anything that's made in his style.

The Big Lebowski really isn't that great a movie. I don't hate it, I just don't come close to the hero-worship of the Dude. I've never been impressed. And Napoleon Dynamite outright blows.
The sexiest actress in Hollywood isn't Megan Fox or Mila Kunis (she's close, though) or Jennifer Lawrence or any of the much more popular names, it's Emmy Rossum.
Plus, I think Smashing Pumpkins is an absolute shit band, but secretly enjoy Livin' La Vida Loca and don't hate Nickelback, Creed, or Coldplay.

My very popular Coen brothers movie that I'm not a fan of is Fargo. It was the first I saw, and maybe I didn't get it yet, but even upon rewatching it just didn't do it for me like the rest of Coen brothers movies do.

Another example of Not As Hot. And the reason is Emmy Rossum's singing voice.
December 11th, 2013 at 5:28 PM ^
Emmy Rossum is super underrated. Excellent choice.

sports talk radio. Its just mindless
Sportscenter was much better when it was just highlights.
December 11th, 2013 at 2:41 PM ^
Is popular opinion by far. It was also better when it was just the same version up until noon or whatever and wasn't live, probably for the same reason.

terribly boring.

I have no interest in that movie.

I saw that movie as a required class trip freshman year. (required as in "show up or I'll fail your ass")
That class was Math 116 (Calc II)

I have never heard the term "hoppy beer," but after looking online, I see you meant craft beer. Some day you shall learn, as I did, that "hoppy" beers are better.
December 11th, 2013 at 4:41 PM ^
Hops are one of beer's 4 main ingredients and big part in the overall flavor of the beer. Hoppyness is a big focus of lots of beers, including the now very popular American Pale Ale.
"Craft" beer just mean's it's not the rice-infused swill that comes out by the gallon from Bud and Miller plants all over the country. Describing the various types of craft brews, that's another story.
December 11th, 2013 at 5:36 PM ^
This is the point I was getting at. American Pale Ales, IPAs, pilsners, and so on that are just crammed full of hops. I am a big fan of the craft beer movement (I buy craft beers pretty much exclusively), but it sometimes seems like craft brewers are in some kind of hops arms race to see how much hops they can use and how many IPAs they can make.
I much prefer lagers, wheat beers, porters, and other styles that don't emphasize hops.
December 12th, 2013 at 8:56 AM ^
Most wheat beers have little flavor. No thank you.

I don't particularly care for the NFL.
I enjoy living in Columbus.
I have Limp Bizkit on my iPod.

But I don't think up-votes/down-votes will fix the board's problems for the most part.
Edit: this was weird timing I guess, but I'll take it.

Is way overrated. So is iPad. iOS 7 is the best mobile OS for 2011.
December 11th, 2013 at 2:47 PM ^
Great Lakes Christmas Ale isn't that good of a beer.
Seven Nation Army is a dumb song.
Apple products are overrated and overpriced. For $1500 I could build a PC with 3 times the power and better graphics than an iMac.
Chocolate cake and chocolate ice cream is gross.
December 11th, 2013 at 2:52 PM ^
Seven Nation Army chant builds unquenchable anger in me everytime I hear it.

We all suck, in one way or another, after reading this thread.
We should all sit down to pee once in a while.
December 11th, 2013 at 2:58 PM ^
December 11th, 2013 at 3:01 PM ^
Sitting down to pee (when at home and a urinal is not available) is the way to go. You get to take a load off and there is never any backsplash or messiness.
I think we'd be much happier as a people if we all made this behavioral shift.
December 11th, 2013 at 3:40 PM ^
agree with you more (relenquishes man card and doesn't care...cause...well....I have less pee particles on me than just about everyone else).
December 11th, 2013 at 3:41 PM ^
We should all squat to poop instead.

New York City is freaking insufferable.
However, it's not half as bad as anyone who lived there once for a year and can't stop talking about it incessantly.

Tomatoes gross me out.
Tom Hanks's best movie was Bachelor Party.
December 11th, 2013 at 3:37 PM ^
Tomatoes are terrible. I always make sure to ask for burgers without them.
December 11th, 2013 at 3:38 PM ^
Amen!
December 11th, 2013 at 3:40 PM ^
Eh, tomatoes aren't bad to me. It's the onions I can do without.

I thought his best movie was "Big" but only because he ate mini-corn like corn on the cob.
December 11th, 2013 at 3:38 PM ^
the Sopranos. I've pretty much dislike every movie/show about the mob.
Also, Chik Fil A is meh. I live within 15 minutes of roughly 5 of them and it's nothing special.
I'm also of the opinion that 90% of the worlds diarrhea is caused by Taco Bell.
December 11th, 2013 at 3:39 PM ^
I absolutely cannot stand it when people wax nostalgia of times long past and bemoan the current state of things. Prime example: "The current generation sucks and there is no hope for the human race." Get the hell out.
On a related note, people who dislike something just because it's popular drive me crazy. Somewhat paradoxically, I myself have been that person sometimes.
December 11th, 2013 at 6:10 PM ^
#1 must be the most annoying thing of all time. Just go on any Yahoo message board...that stupid nostalgia will always be there.

Mgoblog's popularity is killing it.
Michigan is at a disadvantage in recruiting because the school is full of "smart people" and not enough "regular" people. Which i'm okay with as Michigan respresents excellence and should be proud of that. It just means the pool of recruits is smaller.
Founders beer is waay overrated.
