Jabrill Peppers playing in Cleveland tomorrow, livestream available
Jabrill Pepper's Paramus Catholic team is headed to Cleveland to play St. Ignatius tomorrow at 2:30. The Plain Dealer wrote a preview of the game and included a livestream link. A perfect way to fill the void of the bye week.

Jabrill or Julius?
This is what I'll be watching on bye week.

Julius Peppers has circumvented the NCAA and given himself an extra four years of eligibility. He has returned to college football in a maize and blue helmet to open a can of whupass on some fools.

It's been a long week.

Thank goodness they make alcohol.

I might actually watch at least some of this - the 2 PM - 4 PM space does not have a lot of compelling games (most of these are in the evening this Saturday, IMO), so having this opportunity to watch Peppers sort of live from my desk is perfect.

Well, there goes Wife Day...........

Oh well, she has another one coming up in 3 weeks anyways.

This may be the one time JMFR will be rooting against his future teammate. Can players travel home on the bye week or do they have team activities over the weekend?

Is this the future of high school athletics? Maybe it started with in-season basketball tournaments, and began to grow with ESPN's showcasing of those hoops challenges; but it seems like big-time high school athletics is moving towards a national schedule and it impacts all sports, not just the so-called revenue-generating sports.
High school soccer, baseball, hockey, lacrosse, volleyball and tennis teams are joining the basketball and football players on long-distance treks to try to improve their image against better competition. Even public schools are making those trips. Check your local weekend car wash, bake sale, pancake breakfast or pasta dinner for high school students raising money for those trips.
It's no wonder that college athletes are asking to be paid more for their services. Even in the non-revenue sports, it has become a full-time job. Kudos to the college athletes and high school athletes who manage to maintain high academic standing while taking challenging courses.
This might be okay for the Little League World Series, when most of the participants are enjoying a break from school, but what's next? Pee wee football games between a team from Deerfield Beach, Florida and a team from Detroit's Westside Cubs at Ford Field with Denard Robinson and Devin Gardner as honorary captains, broadcast on ESPN Pre-HS?

The answer is: "Maybe". Also acceptable: "We'll see."

I have a sideline pass and will be trying to get some good action shots of Jabrill, JBB, and others.

Not sure what happened, but he hasn't been back in since the middle of the 1Q.

23-10 Paramus Catholic at the half. Peppers still hasn't returned to the game yet. Hard to make out the single digit numbers on Paramus Catholic though.

I could have swore I saw him on defense, but you're right it's hard to make out the numbers.

He's definitely back now, he just had a receiving touchdown.
September 28th, 2013 at 4:23 PM ^
He returned to the game in the 2nd half.

I didn't get here until halftime so I didn't look like a total weirdo. But some guy brought an M banner and posted it up in the top row.

I have mad love for Peppers too, but JBB does play on the same team. He also is a future wolverine. I'm not saying, I'm just saying.
