ENJOY A RELAXING DAY OF BASKETBALL!!!
Gameplan at this point is just hoping that despite the win, Crean goes Crean and bitches at someone, cries about something, or just generally acts like the big douche he is and everyone gets to see it.
I have never before supported Syracuse...but since the non-call on the intentional vs. Michigan and Crean's getting into it with a Michigan assistant my hatred for Indiana is massive.
Khalif Wyatt made himself a lot of money come June with his work today.
Only 8 fouls called on IU the entire game
Somehow that makes it feel worse to me.
Errr, um, we only had 7 called against us yesterday. Not sure if you were insinuating that 8 was too few, but....
OK, the Big 10 teams that I feel bad about pulling for are done. Let's go Illinois and Minnesota.
not saying either will, but either COULD happen.
but the B1G is now a quarter of the S16. Much needed to kill some noise.
And if the officals were REALLY pro-Indiana, this could have a FT shooting festival.
(full disclosure: Hoosier by birth, Wolverine by choice)
Never underestimate the ability of Nantz to overdramatize the mundane.
If I didn't have IU in the final four I would definitely root against them. My god they're annoying.
Craft and Oladipo..meanwhile Sir Charles says B1G over rated
Can we please stop with all these people comparing Oladipo to Michael Jordan. He is a good player but he is not anywhere close to the caliber of player Jordan was. Go Big Ten I suppose.
He got lit up so badly today that the game had to come down to his last second shot.
With just a little help from the refs. The calls made in the last five minutes of that game were atrocious. Temple got jobbed.
Great job Wyatt and Dunphy. Total failure by everyone else on Temple, basically.
BIG TEN!
Now go Heels and Gophers.
My wife is a hoosier, so "Yay" for her and for the B1G sticking it to Barkley and other haters. But yeah, so hard to root for Crean and that team.
"Temple is the toughest team, both physically and mentally, we've played all year...they take a back seat to no one (in the Big 10)."
"Temple is as tough, physically and mentally, as any team we've seen all year and we play against the best in the Big Ten. They take a back seat to no one."
Crean probably is a douche, but I don't think you're quoting him correctly. I didn't think there was anything wrong with what he said in the slightest.
"We played bad today so I'm going to say Temple is the best team we played all year. Stop asking me questions about if we're ready for the tournament. TEMPLE IS JUST THAT GOOD"
Listen... That noise you hear is the collective sighs of relief by everyone who had Indiana in the NCAA final. Mine as well.
Barkley picks Kansas. You're welcome UNC.
Haha... Don't be back talking Chuck. That's just TURRIBLE.
I did root hard against IU today, but have managed to want OSU, MSU, and Wiscy to win . . . It was hard to come to terms with that. Yikes.
I'm going to get flamed to hell for this, but the refs gift-wrapped that game for Indiana.
I happen to agree with Barkley. OSU and Indiana are both lucky as hell to be in the Sweet Sixteen.
Was anyone else surprised that Tom Crean used only 1 timeout? You'd think with as poorly as IU was playing, he'd try to change something up.
Every time Withey touched the ball they doubled him.
He was also gassed after 3 minutes with both teams going up and down and missing shots.
Now KU's gone with a smaller lineup.
UNC is the most inconsistent team in the nation, they'll be down by 10-15 at some point this game. It'll just be a matter of if they'll fight back or not.
They were up by 20 on Villanova and let them all the way back to take a lead.
This is how Kansas lost to TCU. They just couldnt make any shots.
We matchup with both teams, just in different ways.
I think UNC will allow us to run, and we're 100x better if we can run. I feel like McGary would have a field day because he'd get all the boards in the world since he's so active. Withey's just big, but when you're shooting long 3's, you're going to get long boards...McGary can get to those.
McGary also doesn't need the ball in the post for us to be effective.
Against Kansas, I think we have the size to match them. I think we can run better than them and we can stretch the floor and really expose them defensively.
This may be a big "if," but if we play like we did vs. VCU...we beat both teams by double digits.
I think the VCU game is going to be sui generis. There's not going to be another team that's going to invite us into the open court in the way they did. Even in that game, our decision making was great but most players (other than Hardaway) didn't shoot the ball that well.
A lot of those were point blank shots, even uncontested shots, right at the rim, though. I could more accurately say that we didn't have a good day shooting from outside.
My God, going from Nantz and Kellogg to Marv and Kerr is like night and day. It's about the game for them, not creating artificial drama and storylines for the tournament.
If their jerseys didn't read Kansas and North Carolina...I'd change the channel.
I know that sounds hypocritical coming from a B1G fan. But this isn't tough defense, this is TERRIBLE shot selection and poor execution.
No doubt. I've seen at least three Carolina players start to shoot, hesitate, and then shoot, a play that almost no one ever pulls off successfully. They look really unsure of what shots they're trying to get.
Withey's very good defensively, though.
...2-3 guys come down the floor just jack a 3-pointer without ONE pass.
If we get this pace (and this shooting) I like our chances next week.
