And now the ACC is bitching too about lack of respect
Yesterday, someone posted a topic about how the SEC is complaining about lack of respect and lack of bids.
Now, the great ACC is doing exactly the same thing:
Although, IMHO, Virginia has some valid basis to complain, it's ironic that the "BCS" conferences seem to draw from their football status an almost birthright to basketball respect too.
Moderated: Disturbing.
when something is already rated a "5" and I missed the boat on helping it get there....

Yet another reason we hope our fearless leader brings back actual voting.
I do respect Coach K's ability to coach, but I respect the way he gnaws on a block of cheese even more.
they're just in denial that both of their conferences had down years
for people to live in different time zones.

I don't see any bitching in that article.

This was my reaction as well. The SEC article was all, "But we are a BCS conference and they screwed us!" and this article is all, "We probably could have been better represented in the NCAA tournament, but overall we should have played better as a conference and that would have gotten us more teams in." Two very different ways to say you're dissapointed. ACC = Class and SEC = "But Football and stuff!"
Virginia definitely deserved to be in over some others.
or at least get to Madison Square Garden, and then complain. It's the best way to prove you were a snub, and you can have a good time doing it. That was always my hope for Michigan when we barely missed out, and a few times we did just that.

excellent timing with the post, right around tip-off of the game kentucky would go on to lose.
feeling how the SEC feels during football season?
Actually it would be stupid. Forget I said that.
It'd have to be "B-1-G" to differentiate us from the other "Big" conferences.
How about just "Big! Ten!" in the manner of "Go! Blue!"
ACC! ACC! ACno? Not now? I'm tired of my conference chants getting cut short.
How fucking funny would that be for Kentucky to come out and lose in the first game of the NIT?
It's similar to bowl season; the teams that want to be there play harder. Those teams that felt like they should've had a higher bowl don't play as hard.
Maybe that is the real reason behind them joining the Big Ten. They wanted a conference with a better basketball reputation to help improve their tournament chances. Its all about that Big Ten bump in basketball prestige.

My apologies, I will attempt to properly tag my not so effective attempts at humor/sarcasm in the future.
Miami and Duke both deserve a #1 more than Gonzaga IMO. Gonzaga killed their conference and all but winning the ACC at 15-3 is still more impressive to me than going undefeated in the WCC. And while I hate Duke, they were great out of conference and once you factor in the Kelly injury they probably deserved to be a #1 even more than Miami.
Virginia is a weird team. They went 11-7 in the ACC and have some pretty good wins but they also have some really bad losses. Seems to happen a lot to slow tempo teams like them or Wisconsin as the reduced possessions increases variance. Kenpom has them #27 and the highest rated team not to make the tourney. They also lost a lot of close games, 8 losses by 6 points or less. They can make an argument to be included but it's hard to feel like they got screwed or anything. Beat Delaware at home next time.
WHO IS NATE WOLTERS? MICHIGAN RIPE FOR UPSET?
Similar to the SEC problem, with the ACC, you''re talking about the conference with the #6 RPI rank collectively, which has a 0.266 win percentage against the Top 25 rolled into that. Even though the ACC finished above .500 at neutral courts, it was still amassed a 0.396 road win percentage in the conference, and 0.411 percent for an overall road win percentage. The funny thing really is that the SEC was 4th on conference RPI per StatSheet despite a worse record in some respects.
Kentucky from the SEC lost to Robert Morris in the NIT.
When the ACC merges with the Big 12 to form the fourth super-conference, they will definitely get a few more bids.
