Sabastian Larue to visit Michigan?

THIS WOULD BE A HUGE GET WE NEED HIM VERY MUCH. OUR WR RECRUITING HAS BEEN VERY POOR UNDER HOKE AND CO

He's a bit shorter than the WRs we've been targeting under this coaching staff, but he seems to have the speed to be a legitimate deep-threat—something we could really use in our offense going forward. I'd love to see him in a winged helmet.

"He's a bit shorter than the WRs we've been targeting under this coaching staff"
I'm not sure how that's possible, since he *IS* a wide receiver the coaching staff has been targeting. He's had an offer for a long time.

Who cares about his height?
We don't want every WR to be a possession receiver. In the end, we need PLAYMAKERS - The best 2 WRs in the Outback bowl? Ace Sanders and Jeremy Gallon...both are smaller guys who return kicks and are lethal in space. We need just as much of that as we need the next Julio Jones.

Wilma Edwards just going ham on the trolling business tonight. In other news, Larue would be a tremendous get
January 6th, 2013 at 11:22 PM ^
I think this also just confirms the sailing ship that is Laquon
January 6th, 2013 at 11:33 PM ^
LAQUON WAS THE ONLY CHANCE WE HAD AT A COMPETENT PASSING GAME FOR THE NEXT FOUR YEARS. LARUE WILL HELP BUT WITH OHIO STATE AND URBAN MEYER RECRUITING WELL MICHIGAN HAS NO CHANCE. PERIOD.

According to the link below you are dead. I checked around and there are no other Wilma Edwards in the US. Since I find it's best not to mess with ghosts I will nod politely and move on.

you are kidding..right?
January 6th, 2013 at 11:29 PM ^
What the heck...it's worth a shot at Larue. I take nothing from the AU game and his offer list says he is legit.
At this point with some of he big WR's that have come in a nice slot guy has to be appealing for Big Al. I hope the emergence of Gallon/Dileo with their route running gave Al the confidence for some fo the smaller WR's.

There's a short and free 247sports article on it. Basically says that he'll talk to the coaches agian soon and that Michigan is one of the five programs he's still considering.

I doubt Texas AM is a serious contender considering they have 9 WRs

Well, LaRue himself tweeted this earlier:
SebastianLarue1 Not sure if I want to take this official to Texas A&M with them having 100 commits. 1/6/13 10:36 PM |

I think they are at 35 but apparently 9 are enrolling early so those don't all count to the limit or so I read somewhere on the internet.
January 7th, 2013 at 12:11 PM ^
2012 was a relatively small class. On top of that, several of those players were able to be backdated to 2011 due to EE. Thus, technically, A&M had a tiny 2012 class. So, A&M is able to get a ton of recruits for 2013 via EE.
IMO, the whole recruiting numbers things is kinda odd, but A&M is playing by the rules. There's no St. Nick Saban Memorial Hospital shenanigans going on.
A&M does have a TON of WR commits. One of them, Griffin (4*/5*) is not expected to make it in due to grades. WRs recognize the chance to play with JFF and that 4-5 WRs are on the field at any time.

That article was unblocked when I posted it. Pretty funny that they messed up and didn't block it at first. Anyway, there wasn't much info in it.

It's pretty clear to me that a 5 foot 10 guy can be a top target if he has speed and the ability to get open. We need a playmaker at WR and he would fit the bill.
January 6th, 2013 at 11:52 PM ^
Who has been one of the most productive WRs over the 3-4 years in the NFL?
LaRue would be a great get. I hope he visits and loves Ann Arbor.
January 7th, 2013 at 12:07 AM ^
Would he have that distinction if he had someone else throwing him the ball?
January 7th, 2013 at 12:17 AM ^
I don't think there is a better route runner in the league. Welker also has a great knack for finding pocket of space in a defense and settling in to provide Brady with a target. Now, would he have as many receptions without Brady? Probably not. Would Brady be as prolific stats wise without Welker? Probably not. They're kind of made for each other in that Brady's bread and butter is the short quick throws and that's a lot of what Welker's been used for (though he's been running deeper patters more recently). The Patriots have had contract issues with Welker, and it seemed early on this season that they were trying to phase him out and try to get Julian Edelman to do what Welker does. In those games, the Pats went 3-3. Since then, when Welker has been more involved, the Patriots have been 9-1.
You have to be doing something right if you're catching to catch 100 balls in 5 of the last 6 seasons.
(I don't know if this was a "Tom Brady is the greatest and a Michigan man" type of question, so I answered it honestly)
January 7th, 2013 at 12:39 AM ^
Tom Brady going to Michigan isn't relevant to my post. I'm just talking about his skill set. I don't watch much more than highlights so I can't speak on Welker's value to the Pats. I appreciate the thorough response.
January 7th, 2013 at 9:59 AM ^
I guess we'll find out next year when jeff demps replaces welker
January 7th, 2013 at 12:41 PM ^
I hope not. I was impressed with what I saw from Demps in preseason, but I don't think that he could replace Welker. He's a burner and he can definitely make an impact on special teams, but I don't see him as an underneath receiver yet. I don't know if I've seen enough of his shiftiness to really get a gauge of what he can do though.
Regardless, I think the Pats will resign Welker to a long-term deal. I know that the Krafts want him to stay. I know Brady definitely wants him to stay. I think that the deal gets done. Hopefully.

You must not have seen him play for the Dolphins with junk quarterbacks. He was awesome in Miami, and Dolphin fans hated seeing him go to New England knowing he would torch them with someone like Brady throwing to him.
January 7th, 2013 at 12:24 AM ^
It appears Larue is not white enough.
January 7th, 2013 at 8:36 AM ^
I think the real question is, is he gritty enough? Grit > Melanin

We need corners. Top corners haven't exactly been flocking to Michigan. Re-aquiring the coach that molded Charles Woodson would be a huge pull for corner and safety recruits.
January 7th, 2013 at 12:06 AM ^
I am not sure I quite understand your point. Why would he leave Lville as the D coordinator to come here unless we payed him more to be DBs coach? or do you want Greg M fired?
January 7th, 2013 at 12:08 AM ^
??? Bedford is DC for Louisville. Why would he come back here to be a position coach?
January 7th, 2013 at 1:20 AM ^
We have corners, we just couldn't keep them all on the field this year for one reason or an other. We have Countess, Taylor, and Avery starting next year which will be pretty awesome. We don't really sub corners in for the most part, but we also have at least 5 more corners in Jourdan Lewis, Ross Douglass, plus Hollowell, T-Rich, Stribling, and maybe Jeremy Clark or Delano Hill backing them up, too.

Curt Mallory has done a good job with our secondary the last 2 years. I remember our secondary 3-4 years and it's night and day.

On so many levels.
