Should the helmet numbers stay?
I really like the helmet numbers and am wondering if they will return for next season. It's encouraging that coach Hoke is open to what the players like so they could be here to stay.
I think they should stay and have an occasional game where the team wears the Legacy helmet. But if the numbers stay, NO helmet stickers!
What's your opinion?

I don't like the numbers on the helmet.
January 10th, 2012 at 7:03 PM ^
if they stay or not. I'm guessing they are going to keep them.

I think the numbers make the helmet look ugly and cluttered. But if you're gonna put numbers on the helmets, then don't place numbers on the shoulders.

I feel like I'm in the minority but they didn't take away from anything and the players like them. I know this Michigan where nothing can ever change but sometimes it's not bad to tweak things. We will never be maryland or Oregon so chill people. Numbers on helmets> looking like the state flag threw up on your jerseys. It could be worse.

They belong to Team 132. The helmet numbers of this season will be a tribute to their legacy. Every time you watch a video or look at a photograph from this season you'll see those numbers and remember how special this team and its seniors were. I think that will be a great memory that distinguishes the trials of 132's seniors.
That's not to say that Team 133 is less deserving of any accolade or commemoration, but the helmet numbers belong to 132.

I like them, but don't notice them during the game. If the players like them i say keep them, if they don't want them keep them off.

I have to admit that there have been times when having the numbers on the helmets helped me more immediately identify players. Having said that, I hate how cluttered they look and how they detract from the timeless, classic look. We have helmets that are so classic that countless schools try to emulate them. If there were a branding advantage, I still wouldn't like them but would at least understand the motivation. In any case, give me classic!

That is all.

Get off my lawn.
January 10th, 2012 at 7:35 PM ^
I don't like them and I sure as hell don't wanna hear about stealing them while at jerry's.
January 10th, 2012 at 7:35 PM ^
FWIW, which is nothing, I vote no.
January 10th, 2012 at 7:38 PM ^
No to numbers, yes to helmet stickers. Nothing looks cooler from a distance than a Michigan winged helmet loaded up with stickers.
January 10th, 2012 at 7:45 PM ^
My feelings as well. But even if no stickers are in the future, I'd still prefer no numbers.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:09 PM ^
Except for a Michigan helmet without any stickers.
January 10th, 2012 at 7:55 PM ^
They like the numbers and actually play on the team. You grey hairs do not. Shut the f up and let the team decide. I say it should be up to the seniors, and not the tradition whores around here. We need kids that want to win, are cocky, and not worry about just tradition. I have a tradition and it is the banner touch, other than that; balls to the wall bitches!

Someone got a hold of some and are selling them on ebay.
January 11th, 2012 at 1:32 AM ^
Or they just made them themselves. Its not really too hard to take a picture of the numbers to a graphic design shop and ask them to make a set to match.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:04 PM ^
I'm in favor of forward facing Wolverine helmet awards.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:07 PM ^
I like them, and they're helpful for quick player IDs on TV. If it was a choice I would take the numbers over the award stickers.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:10 PM ^
No numbers, please.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:20 PM ^
that beautiful helmet? If you can read the number on a jersey, why would it be necessary?
January 10th, 2012 at 8:22 PM ^
them to get rid of them, but if the players want to, sure. It was kind of a special team 132 thing as said before.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:27 PM ^
Yes, Keep them. I think the numbers on the helmet look awesome. The players love them.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:37 PM ^
Not only do I like the Numerals, I like the Sugar Bowl helmets with gray facemasks. The Wing is the tradition and that is what will never be changed. I'm just saying.
Go Blue!
January 10th, 2012 at 8:38 PM ^
I like em. They are classic. and sorry to all of you that hate them, but they are officially part of our tradition. A BCS winning Michigan team wore numbers on the helmet.
January 11th, 2012 at 10:21 AM ^
Michigan's undefeated in bowls when they wear numbers on their helmets. Let's leave them on until the streak is broken.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:39 PM ^
no numbers and no stickers.

i'm not a huge fan of the numbers on the helmets. I like the wings and wings alone...that being said, if they keep the numbers for 2013, it's not going to keep me from watching them. I just don't want too much crazy uniform stuff very often.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:50 PM ^
I generally like numbers on helmets, old-school style. But the numbers on M's helmet look forced into a space that's too small.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:56 PM ^
I agree with that. I thought they should have been a tad bit smaller or moved a little further away from the wings.
January 10th, 2012 at 8:57 PM ^
There was an interview with Jon Falk and he was talking about the helmets. He said that Bo had him change the facemasks from grey to blue because grey was a color of OSU.
Bo said it best: "No man is more important than The Team." NO to helmet stickers and NO to helmet numbers.
January 10th, 2012 at 9:03 PM ^
Then why did Bo use stickers?
January 10th, 2012 at 9:01 PM ^
I really like the numbers on the helmets and the few different jerseys the team has worn this season -- heck, I even liked the white pants.
I don't know why people are getting so upset about these things, especially the numbers on the helmets. The players wanted them, they look cool, and they were on helmets from the past.
For what its worth, and add to this debate, I thought the Oregon helmets for the Rose Bowl were AWESOME, perhaps the best they've ever worn. I don't think Michigan needs to go as far as Oregon does, but a little variation never hurt anyone.
January 10th, 2012 at 9:29 PM ^
I get tired of people being angry about uni changes. I enjoyed all of them this season, and I'm interested to see what future uniforms are worn. Personally, I'd like to not have the numbers next year and leave them a trademark for team 132 for a few years.
January 10th, 2012 at 9:05 PM ^
I was not a fan of the numbers on the helmet. They can go...
January 10th, 2012 at 9:08 PM ^
numbers look awkward to me and just because it was done in the past doesn't make it OK by itself (see: 70's clothing). I also hated the Sugar Bowl unis and loved the Oregon Rose Bowl helmets. Oh, and I like long walks in the park and puppies.
January 10th, 2012 at 9:30 PM ^
The numbers are ok with me...just so long as the shades of "maize" are the same. The difference in tone was glaring during HD broadcasts this season.
May helmet stickers burn in the inferno...
January 10th, 2012 at 9:44 PM ^
Keep the traditional home jersey, make the Sugal Bowl jersey the standard away jersey and keep the numbers.
January 10th, 2012 at 9:45 PM ^
No numbers.
January 10th, 2012 at 9:48 PM ^
no mas.

Exactly!

Love em
January 10th, 2012 at 10:57 PM ^
Smaller numbers, at the back of the helmet. But no stickers, please- that clutters the helmet.
