RT @ScoutRecruiting Dunn Reaffirms To Buckeyes
Edited in thoughts:
Firstly this is a big shame, as Dunn is a talented back who could have really helped the transition to a pro style offense in 2013. In the end, he went with his heart, and for that we cannot blame him; he's chosing to live out his dream and play for OSU. If he's as good as some say he is (scout.com 5* prospect), then he'll have success in whatever scheme OSU uses, or Meyer will adapt his offense slightly. Whatever the case it'll be interesting to see how is career at OSU shapes up.
It's certainly not the end of the world, as Michigan has paid at least two visits to see 2013 RB Ty Issac in last few weeks, and we're probably going to have a good chance in his recruitment.
As for the rest of the class, Dunn's decision now makes things a lot clearer. In my view, it's likely to end up with Chesson, Grant, Kozan, Reeves and Wright as the five.
- If Grant sticks with Boston College, then expect UM to go hard after J.P Holtz
- Personally I don't like our chances with Diamond, Banner or Garnett, but even if we lose out on Kozan, we'll still take a 6th offensive lineman because our depth is so poor; it will just be a random prospect that hasn't come onto the radar yet.

love that kid.

Urban Meyer is quickly becoming my most hated B1G coach, and with Dantonio and Bielema in the conference, that's not easy to do.
December 13th, 2011 at 8:00 PM ^
Don't forget Danny Hope.
December 13th, 2011 at 8:03 PM ^
Can we really be that mad at him? Oh no, we didn't flip one of his recruits! Dunn could at most be considered uncommitted the past month or so, but he has always said he was commited to Ohio, and were his favorite growing up. MSU and PSU should be the ones mad at him.

Meyer has never run a thug program.
December 13th, 2011 at 9:25 PM ^
Except for that time he coached in Florida for a while and everyone was getting arrested.

Don't hate Meyer just because he has had some recruiting success. If you want to hate Meyer, hate him for the shameless whining that kept us out of the 06 NCG.

Why would he drop early enrolee for more time to make his decision and then just make his decision? This doesn't add up
December 13th, 2011 at 8:02 PM ^
Give himself a chance to flip if Oho does get hit with sanctions.
Urban bought what he was told by Gee and Smith, Urban sold it to Dunn. Major sanctions probably were/are the biggest going in Michigan's favor.
December 13th, 2011 at 8:02 PM ^
Yah, I thought the same thing. Oh well, good for him. It was obvious that this recruitment was weighing on him. I'm sure he'll sleep a little better now.
December 13th, 2011 at 8:06 PM ^
The early enrolling thing may have only been a concern if he were coming here (so he could avoid dealing with hostile Buckeye fans from January-June).
December 13th, 2011 at 8:36 PM ^
It's all good. Next year we'll sign the double fisted fury, two headed train of pain of Isaac/Shallman.
December 13th, 2011 at 8:10 PM ^
He had to drop EE for academic reasons per Sam Webb, nothing more
December 13th, 2011 at 7:58 PM ^
I wish so much bad towards him... I hope every carry he gets gets stuffed at the line of scrimmage.
December 13th, 2011 at 8:28 PM ^
You sound like a Sparty or Bucknut fan.
December 13th, 2011 at 9:30 PM ^
To be fair, I think hoping that he just doesn't gain many (any?) yards is pretty much in-bounds. I mean, he's toeing the line, but there's no wish for injury, illness, arrest, etc. Personally, I hope that Dunn goes to OSU, enjoys very little success, decides to focus on his first love and becomes a broadway star,* ending his football career with 1.1 ypc. Success in life, failure in football. This is the most I can possibly extend to a Buckeye.
You're giving too much credit to embittered Spartans and Buckeyes here, IME.
*Deep, deep insider shit here, friends.

wait guys... why arent we gonna go rcmb on this!!!!!!! i mean i know he wasnt ever committed to us but still. no "i hope he breaks his cock" or "fuck i hope this fucker dies" too bad... oh wait... we have class...
December 13th, 2011 at 9:33 PM ^
An interesting demonstration of class you've got there.
December 13th, 2011 at 7:59 PM ^
Sometimes the heart prevails. I wish him the best. It'll be fun to see him and Dymonte on the field at the same time...btw Dymonte received an offer from Ohio today.
December 13th, 2011 at 7:59 PM ^
The recruiting battles between Hoke and Meyer are going to epic in the years to come. Kind of disappointed but we'll survive. Good luck getting Dymonte to switch Urb. Kid bleeds maize and blue!

Not looking favorable as of now, be better hope urban doesn't fuck us
December 13th, 2011 at 8:29 PM ^
Favorable for what? Urban got a kid that was already commited and two we turned away.
December 13th, 2011 at 8:01 PM ^
seems like that's what he always wanted in his heart, can't blame him at all for that
December 13th, 2011 at 8:01 PM ^
Would Dunn egg fart during class? I sat next to him my sophomore year and we called him eggy. Tear jerking egg farter ofthe year.
December 13th, 2011 at 8:02 PM ^
OSU has obviously been his dream school from day 1, I get the feeling that he went into his OSU visit looking for a reason to be blown away by Meyer so it would make his decision easier, and he (unsuprisingly) was. I know this is just going to seem like a angry Michigan fan trying to rationalize the news, but I don't think this hurts the class too much, honestly. With Fitz's emergance he would only have gotten a few years, and we have some good options in next year's class already. He is a solid back but not great imo, his highlight film didn't really impress me but that's just the kind of player he is. I wish him the best getting 5 carries per game as a lead blocker for Braxton Miller.
December 13th, 2011 at 9:09 PM ^
Been saying this for a week, and I'll say it again. Ty Isaac>Bri'onte Dunn. Not sour grapes, just think Isaac is better. I have not seem them in person, but from the clips I have watched, I think Isaac is more explosive and has better vision. He will also put on more weight once in college, eve n though he is not exactly small.
December 13th, 2011 at 8:03 PM ^
....we hardly knew ye. Good luck except in a certain Game.
The class already looks pretty good though, I think. They've got this over at Schembechler.
December 13th, 2011 at 8:03 PM ^
Oh well. At the end of the day, he's the one who's going to have to go up against our defense. He should ask Boom Herron what that's like.
December 13th, 2011 at 8:10 PM ^
But more room for other recruits that are more of a necessity, right?
December 13th, 2011 at 8:06 PM ^
It ain't over until the fat lady sings.
December 13th, 2011 at 8:07 PM ^
refirm is not a word
December 13th, 2011 at 8:07 PM ^
Oh well...not going to be the first recruit battle we lose to Meyer.
With that said, we still have plenty of guys on the board and we're going to have a PHENOMINAL class!
December 13th, 2011 at 8:45 PM ^
There. Fixed that for you.
December 13th, 2011 at 10:47 PM ^
...+1 indeed
December 13th, 2011 at 8:10 PM ^
It ain't over until the fat lady sings. Unless he early enrolls at Ohio, Dunn has until signing day to change his mind. The NCAA could announce some sanctions before then that change his mind.
December 13th, 2011 at 8:10 PM ^
Sam Webb always said his heart was with the buckeyes, if a guy grows up bleeding scarlet and grey and gets a chance to play for them, you really can't begrudge it. That said I really hope he develops horrible fumble-itis whenever he plays us.
December 13th, 2011 at 8:10 PM ^
Well this sucks. Washington, Pittman, Schutt, and now Dunn. Urban's cleaning up.
It's weird how recruiting seemed to be going so much better for Hoke before we went 10-2 and got a BCS bowl. I mean, since September we've picked up Darboh and Drake Johnson and lost Pharaoh Brown and Anthony Standifer.
December 13th, 2011 at 8:19 PM ^
Isn't that a wash? 2 for 2? Just depends on which position you value more highly, and we're in on some good replacements for the guys that left.
December 13th, 2011 at 8:29 PM ^
Not saying that he won't be good, but it's not like puling in Drake Johnson was some great recruiting accomplishment considering that his only other offer was from Eastern Michigan. And I don't know, in the last week Payton, Diggs, Dunn, McNamara and some other guys have all fallen off the board.
December 13th, 2011 at 8:39 PM ^
Payton is still not off the baord yet. Diggs didnt show up for our visit. Dunn always liked Ohio. McNamara-we didnt show any interest until he took his final visit. not time to work him. I dont really care who Urban gets this year. I am just sick and tired of the media glowing over his recruiting this year. I think hoke has done a better job so far. Urban will always have his name and his rings.
December 13th, 2011 at 8:46 PM ^
As far as that goes, Hoke was putting together an elite class back before he ever won a game, when people questioned his ability to do so. amd when our defense was a trainwreck. Meyer has the advantage of riding in on a white horse and portraying himself as the savior of a program that's been on top for a long time. What he's accomplishing is nothing compared to what Hoke has done for us.
December 13th, 2011 at 8:46 PM ^
Best class in my memory and you're crapping the bed because some prospects fell off the board. Dammit...get you some of these:
December 13th, 2011 at 8:46 PM ^
How is any of this flamebait? Is there some less offensive way for me to state that not many guys have committed to Michigan since September and this seems a little bit odd given the incredible season we've had?
December 13th, 2011 at 8:54 PM ^
I dont think its flamebait, but you should re-think things. Coach Hoke has done a great job so far. There is no reason to get down. Since the season started, we didnt have many spots left. Not sure what you want. We missed out all an Ohio commit, good for Urban. We will see come Nov next year.
December 13th, 2011 at 10:58 PM ^
Diggs and McNamara weren't even on the board before the season, though, and I don't remember whether Payton was, either. It's hard to call those losses.
More generally, very few recruits commit during the season, since they're busy with their own high school seasons. In addition to that, we had filled all but a few spots before September, so decommitments were just as likely as commitments no matter how the season went. Lastly, at this point, most kids are waiting for the all star games or Signing Day, which is just the way it is. Sure, there's stuff happening in Columbus, but that's because they signed a new, big name coach. No need to worry.
