Michigan Football Bust tonight
So I just saw this tweet from Steve Schilling, and it reminded me that it's already been a whole year since the Josh Groban hoopla.
http://twitter.com/#!/SSchill52/status/146358361636605952
Let's all take a moment and reflect on how much the program has improved in the past year.
That is all.

Wow....Shilling fires a shot across the bow of SS Rodriguez. I would've loved to have a video of his face when that song was on.
As much as I liked Rich and think he didn't get a fair shake here I cannot excuse or explain that cringe-inducing decision to play that particular song at during the bust. Wrong song, wrong audience, wrong time. Just so much fail.
December 12th, 2011 at 6:01 PM ^
Steve Schilling was not all in.
December 12th, 2011 at 6:09 PM ^
I'd go as far to say that Rich Rod and the team may have all shared a few laughs over his use of the Groban song. Doubt it was a shot at RR
December 12th, 2011 at 6:14 PM ^
Agreed. All in or not, he didn't have to like RR's choice of song at the bust. Regardless, the tweet was clearly a joke, and not malicious towards RR.
December 12th, 2011 at 7:03 PM ^
I don't know if he was joking or not but I somehow doubt that RR played the song as a joke and laughed about it later... He was crying... Although I'm sure everyone in the audience was still not sure if serious

if people want real coverage of the event, head over to mvictors:
greg's got a liveblog rolling.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:14 PM ^
I was posting early; I have signed off now, because someone signed on as "Section 1" and is posting crap. Adios, amigos. Too bad for me; I was enjoying it. Greg from MVictors did a great job setting it up.
Congratulations to the sock puppet who is playing "Section 1." Have a nice time. I'd really like to meet you someday.

Why is everything always about you?
December 12th, 2011 at 11:52 PM ^
Wait, you mean this didn't involve the Freep either?
December 13th, 2011 at 9:57 AM ^
It was obviously Michael Rosenberg impersonating him.
(Which, is a joke, but knowing the Freep people, quite possibly not out of the question).
December 12th, 2011 at 11:53 PM ^
Edit: sorry double post
December 12th, 2011 at 6:31 PM ^
Hoke is the personification of all I've always loved about Michigan football and I'm happy as hell that his first season has been a success. That's all the reflectin' I got.
December 12th, 2011 at 6:33 PM ^
I remember 12 months ago after the whole Groban thing happened....I have confirmed accounts of players on the team at the time, and at the event, who thought that whole fiasco was a little weird.
December 12th, 2011 at 6:38 PM ^
off, and I wasn't there.
December 12th, 2011 at 6:40 PM ^
I will reflect on what a tremendous season this has been. Congratulations to Brady Hoke, the coaching staff, and perhaps most importantly, the team.
December 12th, 2011 at 7:49 PM ^
When I was down in West Virginia, U of M called me
They wanted me, to come and replace Lloyd Carr;
So like a bad habit I dropped the mountaineers,
But its all over now, so you can find me at the bar.
I screwed it up, I couldn't even beat the spartans;
I screwed it up, and only made it to one bowl;
Everyday, the media says its over;
I screwed it up, Ann Arbor says its time to go.
I screwed it up, we could've kept Ryan Mallet
I screwed it up, but at least we had Denard;
Please don't even bring up the Buckeyes;
I screwed it up, even beating EMU is hard.
December 12th, 2011 at 8:02 PM ^
The point of this is?
December 12th, 2011 at 8:17 PM ^
No point at all just a little parody...no need to be sensitive

All of Fred's Running Backs just play like Tom Harmon, only faster.
December 13th, 2011 at 12:04 PM ^
Brady Hoke doesn't make mistakes.

had a killer speech.
Hope a lot of the people on this site get a chance to listen to it.
December 12th, 2011 at 9:57 PM ^
A little taste
December 12th, 2011 at 10:30 PM ^
to call out the room for booing the team in the previous seasons.
True captain.
December 12th, 2011 at 10:40 PM ^
I'd bet money that no one in that room booed the team.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:14 PM ^
who booed the team and/or contributed immensely to the negative vibe around the team from the outside over the past three years.
December 13th, 2011 at 11:51 AM ^
I meant literally booed, so I agree with the latter, but not the former.

What a bunch of great kids we have for team 132. They and Coach Hoke represented the University of Michigan with class and poise at a time when so many of the people around them and at other universities failed miserably in that regard.
December 12th, 2011 at 10:06 PM ^
This is much better news from the Bust. I remember getting the breaking news on this site and thinking it was pretty embarassing but at least it wasn't a televised event. Then for some fucking reason I had on Jim Rome when I got home from work and he is talking about the Groban thing. I knew then, RR was probably on his way out. Never would have dreamed that it would turn out this good a year later.
December 12th, 2011 at 10:25 PM ^
I agree with most of what's been said above. Molk had a great speech as did Martin. Some others that stood out were JB Fitzgerald, Will Heininger, Michael Shaw and Tony Pomarico.
Desmond slammed RichRod a bit comparing his hiring to a large corporation diminishing its brand which I thought was a bit classless. Many of players after made a point thanking RichRod and his staff as well as Hoke.
December 12th, 2011 at 10:40 PM ^
If only Desmond represented M as well off the field as he did on the field.
December 12th, 2011 at 10:28 PM ^
Desmond Howard can say "ain't" 25 times, and nobody calls him a hillbilly.
Hoke, and Molk, and a lot of other guys can get (genuinely, rightfully) choked up and "crying" doesn't show up as the next word when their names are typed into Google.
Mark Snyder is no longer making up quotes about "Katrina."
These are things, that are better. These things represent change.
December 13th, 2011 at 10:11 AM ^
Is anyone allowed to enjoy anything without you pulling this shit?
December 12th, 2011 at 10:28 PM ^
Two MVPs in a row for Denard. Has anyone ever won it three times?
December 12th, 2011 at 11:16 PM ^
Great picture, and awesome signature line.
December 12th, 2011 at 11:23 PM ^
Sometimes it feels so good to be so wrong.
I was wrong Brady Hoke. I was wrong.
BWS was wrong too -
Brady Hoke is the next Michigan head coach. This means the end of Denard Robinson who will transfer in 25 minutes or so. It also means the end of the spread offense and any hope for the future. Michigan is going paleolithic on the Big Ten.
We just hired a head coach that is 47-50 in his career. Dave Brandon should be put in shackles and set adrift. This is unacceptable
http://www.burgeoningwolverinestar.com/2011/01/its-brady-fucking-hoke.html
Denard winning the team MVP and standing next to Hoke is super sweet. I had my doubts, I wasn't alone, I have been shown the light Mr. Hoke. You have made me a believer.

Where's The Barwis Effect's sig line when you need it?

He has earned the right to troll mgoblog.
