Assuming OSU vs LSU so Bama vs M??
2) They are in a process of putting a ass whopping on OU.
3) Alabama had their chance and LOST!
Now on to us, I'd have to imagine the sugar bowl will be licking their chops to get a u of m vs bama game, if this is the case what are our chances ?
Some reason my gut tells me bama is gonna get it!
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:43 PM ^
gonna happen. And we would lose. Badly.
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:33 PM ^
December 4th, 2011 at 12:27 AM ^
They lose more than we lose next year.
December 4th, 2011 at 12:58 AM ^
I love your Michigan pride, but I doubt you would put your money where your mouth is...
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:43 PM ^
Sugar Bowl gets first pick to replace LSU and probably takes Alabama. Fiesta Bowl then gets next two to replace Ok. State and since they get first at-large pick. They would almost certainly pick Stanford and Michigan (since TCU is probably an AQ and the only other choice).
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:49 PM ^
Ok :(
edit: Consensus is that we might play Stanford.
Ok :[
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:46 PM ^
Replacement Selections (occur first)
Sugar - Bama (replaces SEC champ and #1 LSU)
Fiesta - Stanford/Michigan (replaces Big 12 champ and #2 Ok State)
At Large Selections (2012 order: Fiesta, Sugar, Orange)
Fiesta - Stanford/Michigan
Sugar - TCU
Orange - West Virginia
*Rose would be Oregon vs. Wisconsin/MSU and ACC champ (Clemson would go to the Orange.
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:54 PM ^
If so, are we out of luck? They were ranked number 5 before playing Clemson. At least it is a heavy beatdown.
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:55 PM ^
Out of the ACC? Not likely.
Besides, Michigan = $$$.
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:47 PM ^
I sure hope osu (obviously ntosu) gets a crack at the title. They're making a huge statement. Alabama lost AT LSU...they had their chance. I think most voters will move up osu like they did to florida in 06.
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:50 PM ^
Bama lost at home
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:54 PM ^
Yeah that's what I meant. We had an argument in 06 because we lost on the road. Bama lost at home. Osu is dominating. Give them a chance.
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:11 PM ^
Dude, I was here first...
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:50 PM ^
No, the order of picks will be Sugar, Fiesta, Fiesta, Sugar, Orange.
Bama has to get picked and will get picked by Sugar.
Fiesta gets to setup their game with the next 2 picks. I'll bet they pick Michigan and another Big 12 team like KSU. They could pick WVU, BSU, TCU, or Stanford, but I don't think they will.
December 4th, 2011 at 5:19 AM ^
Will Boise even be eligible?
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:54 PM ^
This has been one damn exciting day of college football. It's why this is the best sport on the planet
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:54 PM ^
I'm no BCS expert, but I don't that's how it works at all. As I believe it, the teams losing their AQ host team to the NCG get to choose a replacement from the other teams first, if Bama isn't in the championship game, they'll probably be the most sought after team, and Michigan (if we make it in the top 14) with its excellent travelling fan base will be the 2nd most wanted. Thusly, unless U of M and/or Bama are greatly overlooked, which is highly unlikely, they're not going to the same bowl.
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:57 PM ^
We are a lot better, but we are not good. This isn't pessimism, this is reality. I don't think we would get our salads tossed like MSU did last year, but I do not think that it would be a good outcome. Besides, I want to save the excitement for the game in Arlington. I really do hope that we get to play someone else just so we have a shot at winning. I like this feeling of winning, it is very different to me. (I became a fan in 2009 when I enrolled at Michigan) Whatever, I guess we will have to wait till tomorrow night to see how everything goes down.
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:58 PM ^
We are not that* good. Bama is really really really really good.
December 4th, 2011 at 12:47 AM ^
It would be interesting (and probably not fun) to play Bama to end the 2011 season and start thr 2012 season.
December 4th, 2011 at 2:40 AM ^
It has a whole Miami/FSU feel when they opened the season, played in a bowl game and opened the next season against each other a few years ago.
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:57 PM ^
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:58 PM ^
back to back games against bama?
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:02 PM ^
If Alabama is not in the championship game I pity the fool that gets to play them when they are mad and out to prove a point.
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:05 PM ^
Last time they were in this scenario they got their ass kicked by a team from the MWC. Hopefully TCU can continue the trend.
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:16 PM ^
Yeah if Bama doesn't make it, they will have trouble getting pumped up for the Sugar Bowl when they feel like they should be playing for the NC.
December 4th, 2011 at 12:33 AM ^
I think Bama is pretty overrated. I could be wrong but they haven't beat anybody that's impressed me beside possibly Arkansas.
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:04 PM ^
I think the voters, which are mostly tools, will Have LSU face Bama in the Champ Game.If that happens, we'll face TCU. If Okla St. goes instead of Bama, I have a feeling it will be Michigan vs. Stanford... which I like.
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:04 PM ^
I know OkState is winning handily, but they have quite a margin to make up on Bama. Is it the concencsus that they are supposed to pass Bama now? I haven't heard this yet...
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:04 PM ^
In another year or 2, then let us take on the #2 team in the country in a bowl. For now, why the hell can't we draw the big least champ, or someone a little easier?
Im really damn tired of drawing matchups like USC in california, SEC teams in the florida, etc, where its a road game for us, essentially a home game for them. If they're such beasts every bowl season, I say, let's play Arkansas at Kinnick stadium or soldier field, and see how that goes.
But I'm just bitter.
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:10 PM ^
Are you complaining about playing PAC 10 teams in CA or SEC teams in Florida or NO? Next thing you'd be mad at playing the Alamo bowl against a Texas team. Would you rather play Florida in the Motor City Bowl?
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:06 PM ^
since the fiesta apparently gets to hand-pick their matchup, i'm sure they would try to 1) pick teams that would draw a good crowd ($$$) and 2) provide a good matchup on the field. I think michigan gets that first point, but I'm really unsure what possible opponent would give a competative game.
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:09 PM ^
I hope nit. They would embarass us. We're not ready yet for that level of competition. Give it another year or two...
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:09 PM ^
I don't want to face bama in a bowl only because we play them in the first game of the season next year. Although it would be a tremendous test for our team if somehow they were matched up against each other.
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:09 PM ^
If Oklahoma St. doesn't play in the NCG it will be a grim day for college football. A Big 12 conference champion fresh off crushing OU with one loss should beat out Bama with one ugly loss at home.
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:25 PM ^
How so?
December 4th, 2011 at 12:01 AM ^
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:38 PM ^
ugly loss = by 3 in ot against the unanimous #1?
thats about the best loss you can have
December 4th, 2011 at 1:32 AM ^
The loss was ugly. They couldn't move the ball at all at home. And their kicking game was a mess, which makes them look like less of a contender. They lost ugly.
That's not to say they lost badly. They hung tight against the best team in the country. Still, it IS a home loss, and they are Alabama, so they don't get any moral victory points from me.
I think OkSt has to get a shot. Bama had theirs, and lost. Move on.
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:13 PM ^
With the current rules, I don't see how OSU could jump Bama. OSU lost to a bad Iowa State team, and Bama lost to the number one team in the country. Plus OSU lost later in the season which is typically worse in voters eyes for no good reason.
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:16 PM ^
If OSU gets the bid, the last team I'd want to see is Alabama. That will be one PO'ed Crimson Tide, and they will be out for blood. Plus, with that game occurring next year, I'd rather see a fresh game. Stanford sounds like a nice match-up, and would probably be sexier just because of teh Luck/former UM-coached team factor.
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:26 PM ^
oops :)
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:24 PM ^
we could see ok st a strong #2 in computers, and a close #3 in human polls....and they could end up #2 overall. could happen.
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:25 PM ^
I don't understand why people are making such a big deal out of who these teams lost to. IMO it is more about who you have beat and OSU blows Bama out of the water there. The SEC is top-heavy and mediocre after the first 3 teams. 5 top 25 wins are nothing to sneeze at. And let's remember that OSU's loss was to a team with a winning record on the road in OT the day that they found out about the deaths at their university. Whether that affected them or not I don't know, but those are definitely mitigating circumstances to consider. I just feel like OSU has the better overall resume.
As for our game, I wouldn't mind a game against Stanford. We would be huge underdogs so there would be virtually no expectations. That might give the team a chance to relax and try to make something happen.
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:35 PM ^
when 2 bcs conf teams have 1 loss each, comparing their losses makes a lot of sense, and bama wins that by a landslide. counting 5 loss mizzou and texas as top 25 teams is weak.
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:50 PM ^
You do have to compare them, but you also have to look at the wins. You're both right. Bama wins the best loss category, but OSU wins the best wins by a landside. They beat two top ten teams.
December 4th, 2011 at 12:18 AM ^
i agree, list the actual good teams that alabama beat. short list.
i personally am sick of all the sec stuff. i've said it before...if the conference is sooooooo good like everyone claims, how can one team go undefeated EVERY SINGLE YEAR! and when they start the season with 3 or 4 teams in the top 10, they'll remain there all season. no one else gets a shot (see ok.st.). the voters/media put the sec in a position to dominate.
rant over
December 4th, 2011 at 12:24 AM ^
I don't think OSU has more than a 10% chance of jumping Bama. The only reason we didn't get a rematch in 2006 is because voters knew that they had two alternatives in Florida and USC that could beat OSU. Alabama is way ahead on the computers and I doubt enough voters think OSU can beat LSU. In '06, it also didn't help that Ohio is the last game of the year.
December 4th, 2011 at 12:25 AM ^
If Harbaugh were still there (i.e. turned down ALL offers last year), this would be a very intriguing matchup. I'm still looking forward to it if that's how it plays out, seeing how Stanford>>>>>>>>Houston in opponent interest level.
December 4th, 2011 at 12:42 AM ^
Just threw up a stat I found surprising... 'Bama has only beat 2 ranked teams and only 5 with a winning record...
