Per TomVH over @ ESPN. Good news to start the day.

I love me some TomVH as much as the next guy, and I appreciate his work, but it's kind of hypocritical of everyone to suddenly care about posting paywalled info once he left for ESPN. It has been done hundreds of times here without so much of a peep from anyone.
November 29th, 2011 at 11:51 AM ^
Hell, Tim did it all the time in his recruiting update posts. I doubt they care. Officially, yes, but unofficially? Forget about it.
November 29th, 2011 at 11:54 AM ^
Everything that was posted looked to be what was Posted on Twitter, plus a link to the site if you want to pay to read the whole article. I do not see the issue with posting information that is already public.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:28 PM ^
And even if it is, you really shouldn't post written content...but the idea of the content is fair use. Copying the paragraphs and articles may be dicey, but saying "so and so said" isn't protected information.
November 29th, 2011 at 10:34 AM ^
the thing is I really don't think tom cares, I mean he worked at this site for years and I'm sure he wants us to have as much knowledge as possible. It isnt like espn is going to go bankrupt if they don't have people signing up for insider info on U of M, and he probably isnt going to get paid more for having more people sign up for insider info, ESPN knows how the internet works
November 29th, 2011 at 10:43 AM ^
"Arrrgh me no understand interwebs. This is stealing bleep bloop." I disagree, most people on the board disagree, the fearless leader of this website disagrees.
Sometimes if you look around and realize you're the only one, that doesn't mean you're the only one doing what is right. Sometimes it means you're wrong. That's why I said people signed up for 2 weeks shouldn't be policing the board.
November 29th, 2011 at 10:24 AM ^
I agree with your comments that we have better mods and policing community here, but how long he/she has been posting here is not relevant.
Someone who just begins posting here could have a much better moral compass than someone who's been posting since the beginning of mgoblog.
That's my policy.
November 29th, 2011 at 10:46 AM ^
This has nothing to do with moral compass and everything to do with the standard operating procedure for how to handle these recruiting links. Brian's policy on this is posted.
There really isn't any moral compass debate; you just follow the policy like the OP was doing. If the n00b has a problem with the policy, get enough points and start a meta thread talking about it.
I just don't think we need nagging posts about which the OP is following the applicable policy.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:38 PM ^
I do think it was within mgoblog policy. I didn't neg the guy. He only posted the gist, didn't c&p anything, but you're still wrong on two parts.
1. Morals do play a part in the debate. Regardless of mgoblog policy, is it morally right or wrong to post information which is paywalled? That's the whole question.
Just because an action is within a website's policy doesn't mean you disregard what you know to be right or wrong.2. Seniority is baseless; nothing more than a point of reference. According to you, if Brady Hoke signed up for mgoblog today, our opinions would matter more.
Do you really think that your opinion matters more than someone else just because you created an account before them???
November 29th, 2011 at 11:37 AM ^
I mean I've been reading the board for about 4 years now I just have never had the urge to post myself....
November 29th, 2011 at 12:13 PM ^
We value your opinion. Seniority has a lot of premise on these here internets where everything goes. Because here2 has not been here as long as you, he should bow before your opinion. Besides, stealing is ok as long as it is done semi-anonymously via the interwebz.
There are mods here to watch over this stuff, yes, but I don't know that they can catch every comment every day. There is nothing wrong with stating that stealing is wrong, and no matter how you slice it posting paywalled info is stealing, or at least in breach of the terms of use agreed to when you sign up for ESPN's premium content. As far as I can tell, any use of paid content by the official contributors here is found in the headers of those articles.
I get tired of people jumping on newer members (who actually do contribute something, which here2cwoodson does) simply for being new. It discourages long time readers from joining in the conversation. \
DON'T PRETEND LIKE YOU ARE BETTER THAN SOMEONE ELSE BECAUSE YOU HAVE BEEN HERE LONGER. That is my policy.
December 2nd, 2011 at 12:35 PM ^
Thanks for the caps, I wouldn't have been able to determine your tone. I don't think I'm better because I've been around longer but I do think it's better to let the mods deal with the policing the board instead of these comments calling people out for stealing.
Considering the 'stealing' occurred in the O-fucking-P, I think the mods will be able to catch this one if they feel it is stealing. I take back nothing from what I said earlier:
There's a practical reason for having points and it's not for measuring our e-peens.

the main competition. He was thought to be a Stanford lean for some time due to the education. Hopefully he liked the Big House atmosphere a little more than Stanford...
November 29th, 2011 at 9:45 AM ^
ESPN Insider was running a holiday special yesterday. 50% off a subscription. Only $19.99. I jumped all over it. Brought me back reading TomVH last night. Totally worth a 20 spot.
November 29th, 2011 at 9:49 AM ^
Ive got a subscription to Espn the Mag until like 2017 and you get insider for free with a subscription
November 29th, 2011 at 9:49 AM ^
You should have jumped on one of the magazine deal links that have been posted here several times over the past few months...I got mine for $4.99
November 29th, 2011 at 10:40 AM ^
But I think it'd actually be worth $15 to me to not have my mailbox stuffed with 24 over-sized magazines that I'll never read.
November 29th, 2011 at 11:48 AM ^
Seriously, why are they so randomly big? It's incredibly aggravating.
November 29th, 2011 at 9:54 AM ^
ESPN any money though...
November 29th, 2011 at 9:48 AM ^
When he got back from his Michigan visit Garnett was pretty hyped up about it. He got on twitter and hit up Tyler McNamara and said how great it was and that they needed to talk asap. And since we are also going after McNamara, it may be interesting where he goes with his last officail visit, if he goes to Michigan with it, do we see Garnett/McNamara together in Maize and Blue next year?
November 29th, 2011 at 9:52 AM ^
With Dunn, 2 WRs, Garnett, and Wright all extremely high on the coaches "want" list, Im not sure where McNamara would fit in. Would they take a committment from him right now? I would love to hear their desired top 5 remaining...
November 29th, 2011 at 10:05 AM ^
Woudlnt McNamara take the place of Pharaoh Brown?
November 29th, 2011 at 10:07 AM ^
It seems like there is an obvious spot for McNamara as we just had a TE decommit (by taking an OV).
November 29th, 2011 at 10:50 AM ^
We just lost a TE commit that freed up the spots from 4 to 5.
If you think the coaches wouldn't take a serious look at McNamara / take him if he wanted to commit - you are kidding yourself.
Williams will be an OT in college, and thus our only TE commit right now is Funchess.
November 29th, 2011 at 9:52 AM ^
So what is our projected starting O-Line look like for next year?
Lewan - Barnum - Khoury - Omameh - Schofield ?
Thoughts?
November 29th, 2011 at 9:55 AM ^
Starters should be fine. Depth could kill us.
November 29th, 2011 at 10:07 AM ^
Starters look great.
Backups look...frightening
OT - Mealer
OG - Bryant (RS-Fr)
OG - Kalis (?) (Fr)
C - Miller (RS-Fr)
OT - Either a walk-on or a true frosh
November 29th, 2011 at 10:21 AM ^
Yikes
November 29th, 2011 at 11:49 AM ^
Erik Gunderson should be in the mix. Plays right tackle, RS Junior next year.

November 29th, 2011 at 12:06 PM ^
Although that is a frightening 2-deep, we likely won't need a back-up at all 5 spots. Look at this year, Schofield was the back-up at 4 spots, essentially. If Mealer or Bryant or Kalis or someone else can play, he will likely back-up multiple spots, so we'd only be in real trouble if 2 guards or 2 tackles went down (which would be the case this year too).
I'm guessing Bryant will be a capable back-up at OG next fall and Miller will be able to back up Khoury. I wouldn't be surprised if Gunderson or Glasgow turn out to be capable back-ups at OT, with Mealer pushing as well.
Also - Jack Miller might be a bigger help than you think. If he's the back-up center and one of the guards goes down, I could see Miller going in and Khoury moving to vacated spot at guard.
Either way, we're not going to be a deep unit, but so long as we don't have too many injuries (knock on wood) we should be in good shape.
November 29th, 2011 at 9:53 AM ^
Is Ganrett projected to play tackle or guard?
November 29th, 2011 at 10:11 AM ^
lame...i think he is all buckeye, came to the M game in buckeye gear and now this.
November 29th, 2011 at 10:16 AM ^
To be fair, he is currently committed to the Buckeyes....
November 29th, 2011 at 10:30 AM ^
He actually wore a plaid shirt with a navy blue jacket. nothing with osu. check your facts.

November 29th, 2011 at 10:49 AM ^
Wait, what? How do you know this? And how did this fact escape the attention of this board?
For the last three days, this board's been filled with post after post about how Dunn will commit to Michigan, with Magic Eight Ball-like predictions such as, "All signs point to Blue!" I, for one, don't think he will be in AA come January. Nevertheless, to wear Ohio gear to the Michigan game while you're visiting Michigan's campus represents some dubious decision making, and it sure doesn't bode well for Michigan's chances.
November 29th, 2011 at 10:10 AM ^
Just read the article. I'm thinking OSU lean at this point....
November 29th, 2011 at 10:35 AM ^
As long as he's impressed like Kalis was impressed with Fickell...
<br>But seriously, I think it's possible to flip him, but he's been saying the whole time he's going to Ohio unless bad shit happens. I think he really wants to be a buckeye.
November 29th, 2011 at 10:07 AM ^
If we do only have 5 spots left. What people generally feel about macnamara instead of wright. With all of the db's we already have. It might help out chances with Garnett if he were to come instead. That is assuming Dunn and 2 receivers come of course.
November 29th, 2011 at 10:47 AM ^
I get what you are saying about having a better chance with Garnett if Macnamara commits to UM, but I think Yuri Wright would benefit us more in the long run. He is one of the best DBs in the class, and look at the impact that Countess had this season. Wright is bigger and faster than Blake. Could you imagine that secondary in a couple of years, not to mention the plethera of other DBs on the roster. Defense is the foundation of winning championships, and dont get me wrong, Id love a monster TE, I just think Wright would be more beneificial.
Id love to close out the class with Wright, Diggs, Dunn, Darboh, Garnett and/or Macnamara
November 29th, 2011 at 11:01 AM ^
I would take McNamara over Wright.
November 29th, 2011 at 11:06 AM ^
McNamara is going to be a beast. With Funchess and McNamara we could literally be the New England Patriots offense. McNamara will be alot like Gronkowski, super athletic, big bodied, not afraid to block, can catch anything, where as Funchess is like Hernandez, meaning super athletic pass catching machine. And with AJ Williams to play as an extra OL in the jumbo set, man just think about the mismatches against LBs.
November 29th, 2011 at 1:18 PM ^
November 29th, 2011 at 2:48 PM ^
I also hope we have a defense.
November 29th, 2011 at 2:04 PM ^
becuase CB is just a more important position, especially in today's pass happy game.
November 29th, 2011 at 10:16 AM ^
Not meaning to thread-jack, but wasn't Jordan Diamond supposed to be on an OV for the OSU game? Haven't seen a bit of info regarding this and/or reaction from him.
I would probably consider him more of a longshot -- maybe OSU will lead now with Meyer? - and we may want others more but I found it strange that nothing has been mentioned.
November 29th, 2011 at 10:21 AM ^
If Dunn commits to us, great, but if not we've got Fitz, Rawls, and Johnson already on the team or committed. OLs, DBs, and WRs are more critical in terms of need.
