Today's daily dose of humor
I though all the UM fans/alums would have some fun with this - I was sitting next to an OSU alum at the bar today and he told me you needed a 3.8 and a 32 to get into OSU now.
Needless to say when I laughed in this guy's face and told him "OSU is a piece of shit school" he wanted to fight me.

Perpetual high five to you, sir. Also funny, the Big Ten Network commercial featuring the head coaches. You all may have seen it, but if not here's a link to youtube.

If you apply to tOSU with a 3.8 and a 32, you're getting a full ride.
And possibly a dorm named after you.

More than 83,000 of this spring’s Hispanic graduates—an all-time high—took the exam, up 6 percent from last year. Overall, Hispanic students represented 8 percent of the ACT-tested 2005 graduates nationally.
so, 8/100 = 83k/X... then X = 1M. so yea, assuming 32+ is the 99th %ile, i'm pretty sure OSU isn't taking up 99% of the 99th %ile students in the nation. just a hunch.

The "The Ohio State University" crap started back in the 60's during some kerfuffle over legal name of the university between OSU and OU. I don't like it myself, but the only times I notice it are on MNF intros anyway.
Though as far as academics goes, the best undergrad school in Ohio is Case Western Reserve, and no, it's not very close. Howeva, Ohio State is 2nd and Miami U is third. Surprisingly, the University of Dayton is now better than OU, mostly because OU decided being a party school on the level of OSU is worth sacrificing their once far-superior academics.
But yes, when my fellow Buckeyes argue that OSU is on the level of the Michigans, Cornells, and UVAs of the world, they're just being snide dicks, which isn't far out of their usual element around you guys, I would presume. I must say though, that the university has made great strides in the last twenty years. Remember, up until about 1988 the university accepted every high school grad in the state. Most published rankings back then had them in the 150th-160th best (in the country) range back then, according to my uncle, a UM grad who loves to quote such stats. So climbing 100 spots in 20 years and being in the top 20 of public schools nationwide is a bit of a feat for a university that regularly ranks in the top 3 of attendance. Again, not on par with the Ivies, but not on par with the Oklahomas, Alabamas and Mississippi States of the world either.
(and no, I'm not trying to start a flamefest or anything like that, just stating the case of the relatively-rational OSU fan and student)

The way I read this, it sounds like the guy was somehow trying to have a legitimate conversation with you about UoOS academics. Thank you for not taking the bait. "OSU is a piece of shit school." Fuck.
