Dantonio to OSU?
Dantonio is a Tressel protege.
He hates Michigan.
He has improved the MSU program.
OSU would be a big step up for him from the Sparties.
He has Ohio history from coaching Cincinnati.
Been discussed.

He would certainly bolt for OSU if offered, but there have to be at least 6 or 7 names ahead of him on their short list.
Ohio State needs a Michigan Man.
They tried the Youngstown State thing, it just didn't work out. It was a cultutral thing. Nobody's fault, really. It was just too much for Tressel to overcome. A Michigan Man would understand the tradition and the traditional rivalries. How to recruit in Ohio. A Michigan Man would know the words to Carmen, Ohio.Leave.
This actually made me burst out laughing. Good job.
man to man, can you please stop posting here? no one wants you to hear your thoughts. actually, i don't care either way about you, i'm just drunk.
with as few scruples as Dantonio being the first hire after Tressel? As much as I don't respect the OSU administration, they aren't THAT stupid. If they ever want to be off their (inevitable) probation, they will do very well to steer clear of "night(club) blindness" Dantonio.
...but let's not forget that USC hired one of the shadiest coaches ever (i.e., Kiffin) in the midst of a full-blown NCAA investigation.
Hiring a coach with questionable ethics under these circumstances is unlikely, but not unheard of.
they hired him before the NCAA investigation, because he was secretly hired as the coach of the trojans when he was still at tennessee.
I would love to see the Saint apply for the job and the fallout at MSU. It would be even better if he didn't get hired and MSU was thrown into a year or two of utter sucktitude before they fired him.
a coach that leads a criminal program to help rebuild their criminal program? not even TSIO would think that's a good idea
Bucknuts has like 2 coaching threads up: one is an open discussion on the SI/ESPN article on the topic. the other is "Anyone but Dantonio."
He's like what Hoke was on this blog but, you know, without the assistant team or likability or clean record of discipline.
The only thing that's certain is that OSU will choose a coach without any dirt or baggage. A program in this much jeopardy has no room for error. So they won't go for Dantonio. I suspect Meyer might be a no as well. OSU doesn't want to answer to all the bad apples he had at Florida.

Plus, both of these coaches have stress-related health problems.
Rich Rodriguez to ohio state?
(SORRY, don't burn me, just had to say it). Seriously though, could you imagine?
You are the 1,000,000th idiot to say this and think it's funny and original.
Er, uh, no. But if yes, HAHAHAHA
Has no chance.
TSIO is going to run away from the Tressel legacy as fast as they can.
If they did that, they might just as well not play football this season. Its the end of May. You can count the number of available coaches for any position, from head to special teams, on one hand. The only way to recooperate the half of your team you kicked off would be to pick random kids from the student body. They honestly probably wouldn't win a single game next year; definintely no B1G games.
Ron English is the best option. Michigan Man smart and a lifetime record of 1-20ish. Go on Ron. MD is fine too, I dont think hes that good of a coach.
After what's gone down under Tressel, do they really want a Tressel protégé? Dantonio was on the staff for some of the shenanigans.
to take over for OSU.
I would bet on Bo Pellini, he wants out of Nebraska bad by all accounts.
That's where I'm putting my money.
Me too. I already hate BP in advance. Plus, jumping to a team within your conference is a dick move. Plus, he's a dick.
If you're a dick?
He seems like a full-on asshole who would fit in just fine. He's always reminded me of a tOSU guy.
An OSU coach named Bo? Never.
On Karsh and Anderson this morning both seemed to think that Dantonio would choose not to go to OSU because of sanctions and the fact he is now entrenched at MSU. Seriously, if offered how could he not take the OSU job? Its going to a top 5/10 job from a school that football isn't number 1 at and has never been a consistent power.
i hear John Cooper is looking for a job.
(GERG and his beaver) would be an excellent hire for OSU.
It's still ohio state. Even during a scandal like this they can still do alot better than mark dantonio. Lists ive been reading so far as to who might take the job have looked something like this. Urban meyer, bob stoops, mark dantonio, chris peterson, gary patterson, and of course jon gruden because he is named in every major football teams search for a new coach. I can't wait until the infractions come out, and no one wants the job so they hire bill lynch.
On the lists put out for our job too?
And none of them ever had any realistic chance of being hired by us either.
In the media, yeah. It seems likely that Brandon's list was 1) Jim Harbaugh 2) Brady Hoke. It seems a lot more likely that the guys mentioned above would actually be on tOSU's coaching search list.
Fuck Dantonio. Fuck Ohio State.
He'd go if asked, but my guess is that OSU wants someone sexier for a position that is still very prestigious. The only way I see them pulling the trigger is if they want someone with roots who comes in with no real baggage from the sanctions, since some of the names I've heard are basically recent assistants/coordinators. But if he does wind up at OSU, I think the fans would turn on him pretty quickly once his deficiencies as a coach rose beyond what the talent at OSU could cover up.
OSU is not in a position to hire someone sexy. They will need to get someone who Gee and the next AD can control, instead of the other way around. I think Dantonio is a guy they'd consider with his background. That said, if I were OSU, I would be skeptical of anyone having had any involvement in with OSU in the past if the cheating is as pervasive and institutionally sanctined as the SI article supposedly suggests.
All I'm going to say is he's a perfect fit for the job and I have no idea why tosu wouldn't go after him.
plz plz plz hire that bag of dicks
It's never going to happen, though.
Per BoDog, you can get 12/1 odds that Dantonio will be the OSU head coach in 2012
That makes him the longshot after Urbs, 3/2; Mark Stoops 5/2; Gruden 3/1; Pellini 10/1 and Mork, 12/1
Hard to speculate until we know what kind of penalties the new head coach is going to be walking into.
Stoops has to be one of the first guys they call, right??
