Not sure why everyone's saying LSU besides standard Michigan pessimism. I don't think any tea leaves have changed recently, and he told Sam Webb this date for an announcement months ago

This is not to slander Underwood, but the reality is that it’s doubtful it was really all his own dime.  Wouldn’t NIL rights mean they are yours at all times? Not just when you’re a collegiate athlete?  Wouldn’t surprise me if an “appearance” somewhere in Baton Rouge or Boulder or Columbus is what constitutes NIL compensation to cover all the unofficial visits.

Obviously, all this is just my own speculation. And I wish Underwood and all these kids the best.

According to this article he's been there 4 times, and made an unofficial in October for his first visit since July. Considering he's a JR in HS, he can't take officials until April, so any visit he's taken anywhere is an unofficial.

The article I listed (from an LSU site) even mentions how Michigan is going to be hard to beat and he's visited numerous times, significantly more than LSU. Yes he's gone to LSU a bunch, yes they're probably the chief competition. But the people sitting here and definitely saying "it's LSU" this far out are being negative for no reason other than being negative, and none of it is based in fact.

I think it's 60/40 LSU at this point.  My concern is that he still hasn't visited for a Michigan game.  And with his decision looming and his high school playoff final (likely) being the same weekend as the Game, his last opportunity is this Saturday (Purdue).  And yet, no word.

We also pay for play, everyone does. It's called NIL lol.

Also have you seen JJ this year? He's been passing the ball a lot and is the betting Heisman favorite, plus a projected top 10 pick. Jayden Daniels has also been great, but Michigan can equal any QB recruiting points LSU has. Plus every additional factor going our way.

He may not come here regardless. But it's defeatist for no reason to act like LSU is some forgone conclusion or insurmountable object, when he very well may lead right now.

So much so that he's 43rd in total passing (and has 300+ yards less than Kyle McCord, who is not a world beater).. not exactly disproving my point. My point was that Michigan under Harbaugh is a run first and run dominant team that is probably not that appealing to a kid with Underwood's talent and projections as a passer.

Let's also not forget the fact that historically UM does not produce high volume passing numbers either. Only three times in the 140 some-odd year history has Michigan had a 3,000-yard passer. I'll give you that two have come under Harbaugh, but my point remains the same: the Michigan offense under Harbaugh doesn't exactly showcase the pass (and I am fine with that).

He’s been at LSU an awful lot, can’t think that current negative circumstances surrounding our program can help the matter much.  At this point I’d be surprised if he went blue.

When I was deciding on a college my #1thing was to get away. If that is a part of Underwood's decision I respect it and understand it doesn't reflect on our recruiting or NIL game.

Were you also a 5*/#1 prospect in the nation that's being offered X amount of upfront cash to play football out of state?  Also, to say it doesn't reflect our NIL game is false.  Let me be clear, I'm on board with how Michigan approaches the NIL in building our culture, but for an 18year old kid with 1M UPFONT cash, for example, is very enticing and it's tough to compete.

I'm hoping for the best here. He was wearing a Michigan backpack in the video where Belleville got new uniforms and there was the reporting from Sam Webb of how Underwood was completely enamored with Ben Herbert, but with Underwood's recent visits to LSU, the current uncertainty with the sign stealing stuff, and LSU's propensity to throw the bag at recruits, I'm not sure we should be super confident. It feels like updates on where Underwood is leaning have been pretty slim. Still think we're very much in it, but I'm not confident

Aaron Scott was wearing M cleats and gloves not too long before his announcement and gave people much hope.  And, we all know how that turned out in his disrespectful trolling announcement video he put out (I know he's just a kid, but fuck that kid for that disrespect).  Not that I predict anything similar from Underwood, but I wouldn't too much weight on it.

I am not going to sugar coat it. This is the most important recruit to Michigan football since Terrelle Pryor.

OSU and Day have already made the colossal mistake of taking some non-athletic average joe QB recruit for 2025.

Michigan lands this kid and OSU is playing football with the McCords or the world while Michigan is fielding future 1st QB picks.

I wouldn't want to play for Brian Kelly, but LSU usually has some very good receivers. Kelly is probably telling the family that Michigan will be hit with some heavy penalties in the future.

Yeah I'm not liking Michigan's chances here. He seems to love Michigan and Herbert but I just don't see us beating LSU. They throw the ball a lot, it's the SEC, they'll throw way more money at him.

Hopefully his connections here win out. He can be the start of a really good class, and keep up the JJ level play of the program.

Jan 6 is a good date for him to choose, because all the MAGA dipshits treat that day like Independence Day and won’t be paying attention.

I get the idea that LSU throws more, but McCarthy not only has better odds than Daniels to win the Heisman, but he’s also going to be drafted before him. So, not really sure that’s a great argument at the moment. This offense is proving that an elite QB can be showcased.
