Would be a much bigger deal if Hurts didn't declare a transfer like Bryant at Clemson did.

He can grad transfer. Not wasting a year.
December 1st, 2018 at 8:20 PM ^
Same reason AJ McCarron came back for his senior year, he would have taken a pay cut if he left Alabama.

Why? It Just Pays More.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:24 PM ^
Very much a hypothetical, but does the CFP let in a 12-1 Alabama SEC Runner-up without Tua?
December 1st, 2018 at 4:26 PM ^
Yea. They do.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:32 PM ^
No, they don't. The key there is tua. No tua, no playoff if they lose today.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:47 PM ^
You sure about that? Bama's QB led them 99% of the way to the national title last year. I think Bama is a lock unless Georgia wins by 30+
December 1st, 2018 at 5:28 PM ^
Bama is in regardless of the outcome.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:26 PM ^
Um, it's Alabama and the SEC. They'd let them if Tua's grandma were playing.

In seven games as a sophomore at Ole Miss Shea passed for 2259 yards. In 12 at UM he passed for 2360.

The SEC as a league has few if any significant non conference wins.
They have done nothing to deserve two bids.
December 1st, 2018 at 6:09 PM ^
Agreed. If Bama loses, they would have the same overall record as Oklahoma but one less win vs FBS teams as Oklahoma didn’t play an FCS team. And Oklahoma would have a conf title and have avenged their only loss
Bama would’ve also lost to the best team they played. both teams best two wins are comparable (LSU/Miss St vs Texas/WV).
Look at their resume blindly and you can’t favor Alabama. but then you have to account for the SEC fellatio going on in media
December 1st, 2018 at 4:25 PM ^
Doesn't matter, even if Bama loses, they'll still be in.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:29 PM ^
It matters to OSU.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:33 PM ^
They ain't getting in. No matter what scenario you come up with you're still left with that Purdue loss and Maryland game as a comparison points.
So fuck those guys. Enjoy the Rose Bowl. Dicks.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:34 PM ^
Guess I just want some insurance. Besides, it is easy to root for Bama to lose.
December 1st, 2018 at 7:46 PM ^
The only result that could possibly get them in is a bad Clemson loss. Maybe not even that--but it's possible they could pass a one-loss Clemson if the loss was dire enough.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:32 PM ^
It would be asinine to put a 12-1 non conference champ that didn't really beat anyone except LSU vs a 12-1 conference champ. But they'd probably do it.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:33 PM ^
Even with a Bama loss, it would be hard to argue that any team is better (besides the team that beat them on a neutral field).
December 1st, 2018 at 5:24 PM ^
Unfortunately, I think this is the truth. I'd take Georgia or Alabama over Oklahoma, OSU on a neutral field. Top 4 teams would include Alabama and Georgia. This might get them talking in the offseason about expanding to a 6 team playoff.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:34 PM ^
Both teams just have exceptional athletes on each side of the ball. I don't really care who wins but it is fun seeing the talent all over the field.
December 1st, 2018 at 5:39 PM ^
Exactly. So far it just seems Georgia is playing freer, without the expectation of being No. 1, but they have a lot of NFL talent on the ball and so does Georgia.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:38 PM ^
Lol I remember when I cared about college football. (Last week). Seriously though. It’s hilarious how much better we are at basketball than football. We are like Clemson of football level in basketball. Even Alabama B. I give up on pretending like we are elite in football
December 1st, 2018 at 4:39 PM ^
All of you no-lifers should get in the bball thread and switch your TVs to ESPN NOW.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:40 PM ^
I thought every Bama player ran sub 4.5 40's.....(sarcasm). There linebacks are not that special

Watching run-first Georgia have no issue throwing the ball right now really puts things in perspective.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:48 PM ^
Honest question here...
Is Georgia's (even Alabama's) offense all that different than Michigan's?
Minus the insane talent.
December 1st, 2018 at 4:55 PM ^
Well, both teams sometimes use uptempo and pass to their WRs more, especially Alabama with Jerry Jeudy. Those are some of the changes Harbaugh needs to do with our offense.
Though I'll admit that they are somewhat similar, but a just little more aggressive on offense.
December 1st, 2018 at 10:52 PM ^
How much of that is on Patterson rolling out of the pocket right (ignoring half the field) then dumping it underneath because he refuses to challenge man coverage. Are the coaches telling him not to throw downfield if there is a defender near his receiver?
December 1st, 2018 at 5:08 PM ^
I was just thinking the exact same thing watching the game. These schools just have better athletes. I'm not bad mouthing our kids but there are NFL type bodies all over the field.
December 1st, 2018 at 5:10 PM ^
I think it is very different. Georgia prioritizes getting their athletes in space. They get these guys the ball in ways that they can keep running after the catch. That is not our passing game. Our catches are almost always for possession only.
December 1st, 2018 at 6:34 PM ^
UGA actually throws it downfield...
also see regular check downs to RBs for 7yds when there is nothing open downfield
You saw the stat on front page earlier this week. We run in a higher % of downs by a good margin than Bama despite them blowing teams out every week and sitting Tua in almost every 4th qtr
December 1st, 2018 at 5:07 PM ^
Can we hire Jim Chaney from UGA?
December 1st, 2018 at 5:17 PM ^
Question: If Bama loses and doesn't get into the playoff, what are the chances we draw them in a NY6 game?

Alabama v. Texas in the Sugar Bowl, I think
December 1st, 2018 at 5:22 PM ^
That's right, forgot about the SEC tie in to the Sugar Bowl. Thanks.
December 1st, 2018 at 5:24 PM ^
with Texas having 4 losses, I could see them taking West Virginia, though
December 1st, 2018 at 5:22 PM ^
Ohio state would get them unless they lose to NW. I'd say under 33% chance.
