Rumors Nojel Eastern not coming to UM

Submitted by jclay 2 electr… on May 19th, 2020 at 2:35 PM

Lots of smoke that something is up with Eastern. Reports this morning that Michigan had not offered him a spot on the team (note no mentions of him on any UM run social media), followed by 247 Purdue mods saying they’d be surprised if he ever suits up for Michigan and now his mother is refusing to confirm he’s transferring to UM. Strangeness abounds.

There are rumors that if he doesn’t get a waiver that he’s just gonna go play pro somewhere.

Why? What’s the risk if they do? Guys commit and things change all the time. If they announce and two weeks later things fall through who really cares? And it won’t likely affect the current or future roster/recruits. So I wouldn’t say they don’t want to announce unless it’s for sure.

That would be bold, but not as bold as this.

"The story of an offensive lineman who staged a phony news conference to announce he was attending the University of California -- even though Cal never recruited him."

My understanding (from Twitter, possibly B. Quinn) is that he would play overseas next year rather than sit out at UM if he doesn't get a waiver. I also seem to recall the NCAA is supposed to vote on the one-time transfer waiver for all athletes tomorrow, but that may not be correct.

I heard on Reddit that his mom was a real pain in the you know what. Wouldn’t be surprised if she’s behind this and maybe forcing him to the NBA

I think it would be wise to not jump on the Purdue Bandwagon that wants to trash him and his mother.  Yes, she did post on one of the Purdue fansites to defend her son, probably not a wise decision, and of course everyone knew who she was but she was arguing with some anonymous posters and trolls. A week ago, most Purdue fans were defending her and Nojel. Now it's open season on them from some of the Purdue fanatics. I don't think it's a good look for Michigan fans to do likewise.

He's been Top 3 the past two years, Top 2 last year.

Remember he was tasked to guard when they beat MSU three years ago (JJ) then who he guarded in the win against Purdue that same year (Matthias).

Two years ago he guarded Happ for bit, better than anyone else.

He's been a versatile Top defender since he's been on campus. He's probably only behind Matthews, tied with Simpson.

Aside from POOle, Beilein didn't really recruit head cases.

Howard has recruited 3 so far in Todd, Christopher, and Easturd.

Lets get some non head cases!
