While we are on the incredibly annoying MGOBLOG practice of criticizing the structure of a post, I must add that nothing is more cringey than using "methinks" in a post (or any context, ever). Barf.
Valid. Juggernaut may be an exaggeration. But they made the championship game in 2023. And were a consensus #1 seed at 30-2 in 2020 before tourney was cx'd. 9 conference championships since 2006. Fisher went 386-209 there, for a 65% clip, which averages out to about 20-10 every year. I believe they won 4 games the year before he arrived.
Hmmm, interesting. Just one question: Does any of this have to do with OSU? And, if yes, approximately what percentage of it would you say involves OSU? Sorry, it wasn't clear in your post.
The short-sighted guy who gave up being a full-scale Michigan man for life, and all the benefits that come with that, for an extra $25k or so in his final collegiate season
Don't forget that at the end of last season our #1 RB was injured and the #2 had a broken hand with cast. There were times we had to reluctantly rely on untested #3 and #4s.
Serious question: Do you really believe that's how our head coach and former Fab 5 player spells his name, or is that an intentional act of disrespect?
Definitely not fair to TCU to get leapfrogged after losing to a quality opponent in their conference championship game, by an OSU team that is sitting at home this weekend after not even winning the B1G East.
I'm rooting for Bates. He made this game a lot more fun to watch. He has gone from #1 prospect to underdog. I liked his youthful enthusiasm and on-court personality.
This was actually a perfect game - competitive, good story lines, see-saw battle, high scoring, intense, and Michigan gets the win in the end.
Is he really that athletic though? How many times over the past 4 years did he fail to finish at the rim and had his shot blocked by his opponent or the rim itself.
Brandon Johns is a known quantity at this point. Seems like a nice guy and wish him the best.
I think it's neat that, from what 57% of posters on this thread have said, that Bates is part of a circus. That's so cool! I say we take him and the rest of his fellow castmembers can perform at halftime. That would be lit!
Ssshhhhh, you are going to get negged for suggesting the Michigan basketball program should be able to do better in the transfer portal than a high-character 3rd stringer from one of our arch rivals who played a total of 5 minutes in last year's NCAA tournament.
My three siblings and I all went to Holy Name in downtown Birmingham thru 8th grade and then Brother Rice and Marian. The two siblings who stayed in Oakland County sent their kids to Birmingham Groves and all did very well there - e.g. Honors College at MSU and lots of scholly $.
Interestingly, my kids public high school here in Washington, DC sends tons of kids to UM and accepts them at a higher rate than Brother Rice applicants (which has a very conservative culture). At the same time, virtually no one from their school applies to, or gets accepted at U. Virginia despite it being less than 120 miles from DC.
UM seems to look favorably on public school students from diverse urban areas. UVA - not so much.
I mention this because the high school you choose can also impact at what types of colleges your kids end up being a good cultural fit, so it can't hurt to look ahead.
Meantime, Houstan would drive baseline and then throw a pass right into the defenders shins, aiming for his teammate's ankles once or twice every game. Drove me nuts.
What is the most reliable and timely source for post-game pressers after basketball games with no paywall? I am always hunting for them but rarely finding them. I check mgoblue, freep, detnews, youtube, btn. Why is it so hard?
The first thing I thought of when I saw this was that Michigan and Maryland have had similar seasons so far - failing to even sniff the preseason expectations, surprising losses, trouble assimilating a lot of new players etc. The difference obviously is that Juwan still has a deep well of built-up capital and love with our fans, whereas Turgeon had expended all of his in the last 10 years.
But it's still worth noting coaches sometimes lose their jobs after starts like ours and Maryland's.
I hear you. I'm sure Juwan and UM will be fine. But Jones (not Smith as I said in my post!) has been recruiting top 50 players from throughout the DMV for 19 years, including 5 current NBA players, including a #1 pick in Marquelle Fultz, and Victor Oladipo.
He is fun to watch in that highlight video, but c'mon, one of those games was against Alice Lloyd (5:04 mark). And I think they only beat Bursley by 3.

Aren't all titles clickbait by nature? I say we do away with them altogether and democratize the posts! But then what would everybody complain about?

Apparently, according to Coach Harbaugh, the team that their Lord Jesus Christ our Savior likes the most would go.
Clearly Stalions has been working for the Diamondbacks too!
Thanks for clarifying!

Hope EMU goes on to have a great season.
Baker = Groninger
And 3 basketball games in the next week, starting with the Ferris State tune-up tonight!
Joey Baker played a total of 5 minutes in the NCAA tournament. But I'm sure he was great at clapping his hands for his teammates.
Is he really that athletic though? How many times over the past 4 years did he fail to finish at the rim and had his shot blocked by his opponent or the rim itself.

Haven't seen the post but is it clearly trash talk, and not just looking forward to playing his old team and teammates?

Yeah and Chris Webber almost went to U of D
From what I can gather from every UM postgame interview I watched, there is a discernible absence of flinching going on with this team.

DC is close enough to the Northeast that you should recognize sarcasm when you see it.
We won't know anything until domani. It will be nice to have a fellow Italian on the team who isn't an offensive lineman.

All I could think of during that game was Basketball Diaries. Should have taken the pink ones!
