People like to (rightfully) make fun of Coldplay but Parachutes is a fantastic album. I'd put A Rush of Blood to the head up there too

My list off the top of my heads:

Rilo Kiley - The Execution of All Things

Florence + the Machine - Lungs

At the Drive-In - in/casino/out

Motion City Soundtrack - Commit This to Memory

Electric Light Orchestra - Out of the Blue

same +1 - some excellent rock/pop-punk albums dropped around the early to mid-2000's.

Motion City Soundtrack happen to be doing "Commit This to Memory" anniversary tour - Detroit on June 12 for those of you still in-state - link - tempted to check out the July show in Denver myself..

Well, at least you are in an era I recognize.

Anything Duane Allman participated in. Allman Brothers,  obviously. Also, Delaney and Bonnie, Boz Scaggs, Derek and the Dominos, Wilson Pickett. Check out his work on Pickett's version of Hey Jude. Greatest guitar player of his era. I realize the competition was fierce but...Duane was the best.

Best album? Allman Brothers live at the Fillmore East.

My musical tastes are all over the place, but my favorite all time albums are:

The Clash and London Calling (the Clash)

Kind of Blue (Miles Davis)

Yankee Hotel Foxtrot (Wilco)

I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning (Bright Eyes)

Blood on the Tracks (Bob Dylan)

I really enjoy hip hop/rap too, but for me so single album makes the cut, except for maybe Ready to Die by Biggie

It captures a (not going to say the) lens of the Seattle scene. I never even had heard of Mother Milk Bone. The contributions from Chris Cornell (RIP) provided great insight. It loses my interest by the end, but one of my favorite music documentaries with some awesome old footage. I owned PJ Ten on cassette, CD, and record (likely influenced by the bands, or Eddie’s, stance that records captured the right sound).

Warning: not much controversy in the film, so more of an overview and chronological journey than intimate expression/experience. In some ways, it feels like the band from Almost Famous saying, “just make us look cool”.

I have an actual question about this. I think Songs In The Key of Life is an all time top 5 maybe top 3 album. My issue is it has "Isn't She Lovely" on it which for me is an immediate skip. However, the rest of the album is transcendent genius. How do you parse it? This is the micro of the macro which is Speakerboxx/The Love Below. I love Speakerboxx, I think its slept on, but it isn't as vital and brilliant as The Love Below.

These are the things I think about when I used to have traffic to be stuck in

I personally think that Innervisions is the best album from Stevie - although it doesn't have any of his all-time hits (edit - forgot about Higher Ground), it's sequenced brilliantly and shows off his skills in a variety of genres while still being incredibly cohesive.  I'd also regard What's Going On in a similar vein of mastery - every track just flows so naturally into the next.

At my age, I may have heard of these bands, but I can't remember right now.  Nevertheless, best live albums ever recorded were Live at the Fillmore East by the Allman Brothers and Little Feat's Waiting for Columbus.  If you prefer "shit-kicking", anything by Patsy Cline or Johnny Cash. "Shit-smoking", a varied menu by the Stones, Clapton, or Dylan. What do I know?  I'm still looking for the Air Aces on WABX.
