I keep up with scores and read the game synopsis (sometimes goal analyses) but much more heavily in the playoffs. It was so much easier to follow hockey when i was in the Hockey Band lol

Very possible that I am way off. It was one of the few times I was in Chicago and everything was either downtown closing to the bean or north near Wrigley (I do believe it is further north of downtown though)

EDIT: Nope! Not near Wrigley at all! I am awful at geography.

I went to visit friends in Chicago in 2014 and we went to Rockit for a game. It was nice. Much more high brow sports bar than like a Hopcat or Bdubs but nice environment. Real close to Wrigley too so it's cool to walk around as well

10/26/2018 - 5:27pm They both could have married…

They both could have married Michigan grads but they CHOSE to marry MSU grads

10/26/2018 - 10:55am The one i'm most concerned…

The one i'm most concerned about is UGA v Florida. Both have potential to jump Michigan because of the SEC infatuation (assuming the winner beats Bama). You nailed it on the head regarding Texas/OU and I would add ND where this is where Michigan benefits most obviously if they lose.

For the Big Ten West, i'm rooting for Purdue cause why not? The only way for Purdue to make it ot he championship is to win out and anyone West team that makes it most likely will be ranked anyway (save for maybe Northwestern?). Plus Purdue beating State would just be hilarious.

I'm interested. But would rather not place my email here.

08/17/2018 - 2:17pm I would love to do this with…

I would love to do this with my Dad.

One of my earliest memories was a Michigan game where we saw Biakabutuka play (although i was pretty young and only have a vague recollection). It was a huge reason I ended up applying and going to Michigan. Plus my dad tends to overwork himself and he could use a vacation

08/17/2018 - 11:14am I just moved to the Denver…

I just moved to the Denver area myself and looking for a good place to watch games! The bar locator says that there's a place called the Bohemian Biergarten in Boulder and there's Lodo Bar and Grill in Downtown Denver. Not sure about other places; I know there are some other Denver/Boulder people on the board that might know of more places?

03/21/2018 - 1:22pm From my experience of it

From my experience of it (since i don't have a pure Statistics Masters), it is really that but it the course work is more applied so we don't do deep dives into statistical theory past functionality. For example, we've briefly looked over Bayesian analysis but only in so far as to have an understanding of how it creates its posterior probabilities and "updates" the current probability as data is entered. Does that make sense?

We do our work and projects primarily in SAS or R but do occaisonally dip into SPSS syntax, SQL, Tableua, etc (whic if anyone is hiring an anlalyst, I know how to program in all of those I listed!)

03/21/2018 - 12:11pm Yeah, its just for personal

Yeah, its just for personal projects and practice, really. I want to get raw game-level data to try and make predictions with some forecast modeling for fun (i'm a biostats masters student, so that is fun for me ha)

I enjoy all the work and content by Seth and others and want to try it out myself

03/07/2018 - 1:40pm Biostats/Data Analyst

I'm about to finish up my masters at Grand Valley and definitely am looking .Primarily in the Denver or Pittsburgh area (although i wouldn't mind staying in the MIdwest, i.e. Grand Rapids, Detroit, or Chicago).

Any live in Denver or Pittsburgh and can tell me a little bit about what its like to live there, price-wise? If you know anyone who's hiring a SAS or R programmer, i'd also be interested in reaching out ha

02/01/2018 - 1:52pm The Skin I Live In

A Spanish film with Antonio Banderas as a film. Watched it with my ex-gf's family cause it had a good rotten tomato score and spent the entire movie with my jaw dropped. Never will I watch that again.

10/12/2017 - 12:45pm México

I always root for Mexico

03/28/2017 - 10:58am Childhood

My dad worked for Bosch and we moved up from Mexico to Dearborn when i was 3 since my dad was working on a project around the detroit area with Ford. We lived there for 3.5 years and I fell in love with the state and the summers and the fall and winter. My dad was transferred to a factory in Juarez and we subsequently moved to El Paso and i HATED it.

My stubborn 7 year old self swore that I would move back to Michigan and found myself supporting anything state of Michigan related so I followed the Lions, (Barry Sanders was etched in my mind), the Tigers, Pistons, etd. I knew that I would go to college and my child mind just assumed (correctly) that the defacto flagship university that truly represented the state of Michigan was UM. Luckily, it was a great school and I had the grades.

Growing up in Texas surrounded by Cowboys and Longhorns fans was incredibly obnoxiuous and any time that UM had a big game, people would root against Michigan for some reason. I proudly grabbed whatever Michigan gear I could find and wear it at school. Especially after the Rose Bowl against the Fighting Vine Youngs and THE GAME in '06. I just loved the state of Michigan and when I started following UM, i was enamored with Mike Hart and Chad Henne, and those 2001-2007 teams. I loved the colors and fight song. I have had a deep love for the state of Michigan and UM for a long time and I'm really glad to now call Michigan my home and myself an alum of UM. Go Blue!

p.s. - super fluff, but I love hearing about other people's fandoms and how they came to be, regardless of whether they attended UM or not cause you don't need to be enrolled to be a fan, Sparty.

01/30/2017 - 1:39pm Maybe there was a little rush

Maybe there was a little rush to post it before anyone else but i seriously figured people would realize it was satire. Guess i was wrong. Mea Culpa.

01/03/2017 - 2:52pm i looked at the ticketmaster

i looked at the ticketmaster website and i couldn't find anything about the game. how did you score them?

12/04/2016 - 2:46pm Sun Bowl

I grew up in El Paso and the Sun Bowl is a cool spot to hit up and tickets are usually easy to get (because El Paso is a terrible fan base and doesn't really care about any teams outside of UT, Texas Tech and the Cowboys)

I saw the cool comeback win by Oklahoma over Iowa one year and was also at the awful 3-0 game with Oregon State and i forget who the other team was.

just updated to reflect that

11/07/2016 - 11:51am Mea culpa

That's what i get for procrastinating instead of doing real work. Never half-ass two things, full ass one thing

I'll take any negs that come with my mistake.

11/07/2016 - 8:30am just trying to bring a little levity to the board;

just trying to bring a little levity to the board; every fan base has their dumb commenters.

I say "toh-may-toh" you say "repeated-collisions-between-two-developing-brains-would-cause-brain-trauma." Let's call the whole thing off!

10/14/2016 - 9:22am They have less games played

They have less games played meaning every win they get is worth more than a win Michigan gets. The more games they get, the bump in percentage gets smaller and smaller. They must have been really close to Michigan's winning percentage entering this season already

10/14/2016 - 9:19am GVSU Masters Student

I'm just starting a Masters program here but i guess i'm a UM alum so i came in with bias anyway

10/13/2016 - 11:18am Pretty much the same boat i'm

Pretty much the same boat i'm in but i really like to have things planned out and it stresses me out if i dont ha

If it were just me or me and one other person then i'd do that but don't know how the rest of the group feels about that. And i imagine the bars will be a nightmare.

10/13/2016 - 10:39am Yeah, went there first and

Yeah, went there first and most are already sold or higher than what i can justify/afford right now unfortunately

10/13/2016 - 10:38am Is this a good strategy?

Is this a good strategy? Never bought tickets on the street before and don't want to drive all that way to end up watching at some packed bar

awesome. here's my email hrodrig44 at gmail. What section?

10/13/2016 - 10:36am I've been looking on MGoBlue

I've been looking on MGoBlue but the tickets are all over the place. That'll be my last resort, before scalping, and just try to move around the section by asking people around us.

Will they be clothed? I feel that this is an important question.... nttawwt

In all seriousness, as much as I am conflicted about the Chris Webber and Ed Martin Scandal (I was only born in 1990 so I was not aware of anything really) I think with the sanctions being lifted next month and so much time that has passed, I think its about time that they reunite (not necessarily for CWebb to say anything about the scandal although I'm in the same boat as many where I would like for him to acknowledge he made a mistake and apologize).

Much obliged, good sir! Pardon my laziness

08/28/2012 - 2:53pm I'm aware of streams and all

I'm aware of streams and all that but I'd rather not be huddled around a computer and actually use the living room to watch football games. I'm just asking about satellite programming help and also doubles to find out if there are more people in El Paso to watch games with. You seem to be in a particularly sour mood lately.

Well, i'm not the best man if that makes this less odd.... and the wedding is going to be in Detroit on Belle Isle

06/16/2012 - 10:07pm Yeah, i've lived here since

Yeah, i've lived here since 2nd grade and had to deal with plane tickets the past 4 years. Before august tickets went for 375, but i didn't have a timeline yet so i couldn't jump on the tickets.
