OT: looks like we dodged a bullet with former 5* Eyabi Anoma
We were in on some of his early Top Schools lists and got an Official, as I recall. Despite the Biff Poggi connections at St Frances and our need for edge rushing talent, we ended up far on the outside looking in as he went for Bama.
No idea exactly what he's done along the way, but this ain't pretty:

It's hard to say, since that article doesn't really say anything about what happened.
February 11th, 2020 at 2:56 PM ^
Yeah, being dismissed from two different schools admittedly isn't a great look, but without further details/context, speculation is inappropriate.
February 11th, 2020 at 3:14 PM ^
I'm going to speculate that it's highly likely to be something significantly more serious than missing a block or being late to a meeting or chewing gum in class.

According to this: https://thespun.com/college-football/why-houston-reportedly-dismissed-former-5-star-eyabi-anoma
"tardiness, skipping class, clashing with teammates and insubordination"

Way back in 1989 I was VP of Operations for a now defunct car rental company. I had risen from Manager Trainee to Office Manager to District Manager to Regional Director to VP in five years so TRUST me, I was very proud of myself and let everyone know just how wonderful I was at every chance.
Then one day, with my ex wife now 7 months pregnant with our second child (she had just quit work at the Post Office) I got summoned to the President's office at 2:00 pm on a Friday and was told my services were no longer needed and that someone would escort me from the building once I had gathered my stuff. No worries, they said, I would be paid all my unused vacation time AND they would generously give me two whole weeks severance pay.
Once the shock wore off I was angry as hell and blamed everyone in the world for my situation except one person. Me. I was sure this was a conspiricy led by my enemies and once the company learned of their folly they would surely call me back for reinstatement. But that obviously never happened and the more I thought about things and the more I spoke to ex-associates the more i came to the realization it was me, not everyone else, who was the problem. That was a tough thing to own but it wasnt until I owned up to my failings that I started to change as a person and become a much better co-worker, employee and subsequently, boss.
Sounds like Eyabi needs to do some self-reflection too on things.
February 11th, 2020 at 4:42 PM ^
You let everyone know how wonderful you were/are? No way.
February 11th, 2020 at 5:34 PM ^
So long as Eyabi doesn't give to a charitable cause and never receive a thank you, I think we're all in the clear here.
February 11th, 2020 at 7:56 PM ^
Yeah that doesn’t sound like mgrowold at all......definitely doesn’t do that now at all. I have seen him post now a handful of times after his disrespectful comments about Ace. I would be embarrassed to be around here if I was him. But I’m also not a narcissist either.....

It was in that moment you learned how to subordinate your ego. Or, more likely, you ego was so deflated that your retrospection allowed you to.
Leadership can do such a thing, especially to a young man.
February 11th, 2020 at 5:46 PM ^
No one can toot their own horn quite like mGO.
February 11th, 2020 at 6:16 PM ^
Yeah that was a Hall of Fame level humble brag.
February 11th, 2020 at 6:33 PM ^
Sir, this is a Wendy's
February 11th, 2020 at 6:58 PM ^
that explains the frosty reception
February 12th, 2020 at 2:36 AM ^
Yeah, it's chili in here.

February 11th, 2020 at 7:21 PM ^
Eyabi is a eyBABY. THATS WHAT I THINK.
February 11th, 2020 at 9:21 PM ^
Nice post mGrowOld. I appreciate your sincerity and candor. As we get older,we all learn a lot about ourselves and others.
Best wishes to you and your kids/family.
February 11th, 2020 at 10:45 PM ^
That was you? You prick!
February 11th, 2020 at 4:33 PM ^
Sooooo...he didn't come to play skool?
February 11th, 2020 at 7:14 PM ^
Shut up you filthy sack of shit. Suck a bag of coronavirus infected dicks.
February 11th, 2020 at 10:48 PM ^
Each on individually or the whole bag at once?
February 11th, 2020 at 11:55 PM ^
Suck the side of the bag
February 11th, 2020 at 7:26 PM ^
LOL... looks like I was completely 100% wrong. Not the first or last time.
February 11th, 2020 at 3:07 PM ^
I also dodged a bullet by not marrying Amber Heard
February 11th, 2020 at 3:13 PM ^
dodged a few punches as well.
February 11th, 2020 at 3:21 PM ^
That’s the joke.jpg
February 11th, 2020 at 3:13 PM ^
I dodged a bullet by not having sex with Daija.
February 11th, 2020 at 3:19 PM ^
What about Doja Cat
February 11th, 2020 at 4:08 PM ^
They say hindsight is 20/20.
Probably have to wait until you see it from the back...back back back back .
February 11th, 2020 at 3:27 PM ^
Do I want to google Daija so I know what you're talking about? Or just accept the fact that she/he/it is someone/something to avoid having sex with?
February 11th, 2020 at 3:29 PM ^
Good looking female rapper.
February 11th, 2020 at 4:49 PM ^
Doja Cat is a famous rapper. I would definitely be down with that. Daija is my ex’s little sister who tried getting with me. It was hard to say no but it was for the best.
February 11th, 2020 at 3:28 PM ^
He should head to the XFL. This college thing isn't working out for him.
February 11th, 2020 at 3:41 PM ^
Getting dismissed from Bama just means you weren't as talented of a football player as they originally thought.
February 11th, 2020 at 7:25 PM ^
Well, that’s just it. When the Bama dismissal happened, there was some thought that maybe he was just processed. Getting the axe at UH? That’s a different signal.
February 11th, 2020 at 3:47 PM ^
I dodged a bullet in Iraq, actually more than one.
February 11th, 2020 at 4:51 PM ^
I think the bullet missed you, rather than dodging it. But thanks for your service. Blows my mind people are willing to go fight to the death for this country, but I’m truly grateful.
February 11th, 2020 at 9:27 PM ^
Honest question...why is this getting downvoted ? What did I say wrong ? I thanked him for his service and said I can’t imagine doing it myself. Seems conventional.
February 11th, 2020 at 9:50 PM ^
"...and said I can’t imagine doing it myself."
That is not what you said, at all - and stop being faux-naive about it. I'm sorry it 'blows your mind' that some people are so stupid as to fight for this shitty ass country.
February 11th, 2020 at 10:46 PM ^
I don’t think this country is shitty. I just can’t imagine putting my life on the line for any country or cause. I’m thankful that some people are willing to do it.
February 12th, 2020 at 12:55 AM ^
That's how i read it too....i read it as being humble
February 11th, 2020 at 4:27 PM ^
I dodged a bullet on getting 'real close' to a MSU gal.
February 11th, 2020 at 7:11 PM ^
No you didn’t, you wouldn’t even talk to her
February 11th, 2020 at 8:05 PM ^
You don't know that.
February 11th, 2020 at 5:40 PM ^
Can't assume the same things would have happened at Michigan. Maybe he just needed a few coaches that actually paid attention/cared about their players once they arrived.
February 11th, 2020 at 8:04 PM ^
Steve Lorenz said Michigan didn't pursue him for multiple reasons when he was in the transfer portal.
I suspect he would have had the same issues just about anywhere.
February 11th, 2020 at 7:44 PM ^
I doubt Alabama or Houston cares much about developing football players into decent human beings and Michigan Men.
Sometimes its the environment that makes the difference. I would be happy if Michigan reached out to this kid and tried to see if they could make it work. It's easy to judge when we've been surrounded by competence for most of our lives.
February 11th, 2020 at 8:20 PM ^
I think we can guarantee that Alabama and Houston aren't interested in developing Michigan Men.
