Ohio State Snowflakes: General Observations

Submitted by LSAClassOf2000 on

This will be the thread for hot takes which defy neat categorization but are still Ohio State related.

Don Brown and the defense did well, OSU only earned 3 points in regulation. 7 was a pick 6 and the other 7 was a 4 yard drive. Offense didn't hold up their end of the game today. And what's with the repeated running into the kicker on punts?? The occasional block is not worth the risk, that one cost us 30 yards and contributed to the pick 6. But, overall we played tough on the road and had more than a chance to win.

Year 2 and we were right there with our rival.  Very competative with the #2 team in the nation.  We played at OSU and played them extremely well!

My observation is ..... you can't throw 2 INTs to OSU ..... the first one was VERY costly.

Our D did enough to win the game as usual.  Our offense was average in all competative games but .... we ALWAYS competed.

Close game .. not hanging my head ... .I am sure an honest OSU fan is saying ... "Shheeeeeeew man .. glad that is over" .... right about now.

Competative game we could have and probably should have won.

Again .. year 2 .... .we ARE a competative program and not a pushover any longer.  We are BETTER and another 10 + win season .... totally sucks we lost .. but still .. we are on the right path.  Much rather lose in OT and be competative than just blown out.  I assure you OSU coaches are happy and feeling a bit lucky to get out of there with a win AT home.

Sorry it went down like this for our seniors and you guys who really take it personal ... I know it's a tough loss ..... Still got the M hat on .... about to head out with it .... will not hang my head!

If Don Brown sticks around .. I am very confident for the next 2 years coming up ... why? I truly feel Brandon Peters is going to be a very good QB for us and other new QBs that come in.  We are missing a good to great QB and have been these past 2 years.  Period!

Our RBs and run game will still be strong .... a good to great QB will totally make a difference and Don Brown has PROVEN to take decent guys and still have great D's and we are getting much better than decent recruits looking at us and guys sticking around.

Rudock = AVG Game Manager QB and Speight = Truly AVG / Oridnary QB

It's not a cut on them it's just my take.  Neither QB were ones to typically light it up against good teams IMO.

Year 4 and Harbaugh will have his guys it should only get better.  Again .. only year 2 and we are rockin and rolling and were in the top 5 and lost to a #2 team.

Again .....

Refs didn't lose this game for us today ... I am tired of hearing that.  Sure they certainly made some bad and missed many calls but ...

1 - INT for a TD

1 - INT led to points

Fumble at the goaline.(uugh ....)

You just can't do that to a good team and lets be honest .. OSU doesn't suck.

WE ARE ON THE RIGHT TRACK!   Year 2 with JH and we ARE a top 10 team in the nation no matter what, I mean that is a good thing.  Again we lost to the #2 (but did we really?) and barely at that ..... I absolutly think we will beat them in the next 2 season .. so yes .. I do think we can beat them over the next 2 years.

Refs blew it at the end, and I'm never one to blame refs even when my teams lose. Even Herbstreit said he looked short of the line on 4th. But hey, at least it was a great game and congrats to any red fans who may be lurking these forums. Maybe we will get Michigan vs Colorado (or usc) round two im the rose bowl if Washington or Clemson lose... or maybe washington or Clemson in the orange bowl if one loses... trying not to look back anymore even though its hard. Let's kick some ass in the bowl and send peppers to new York he deserves top 3 after a very good performance

Of course this place is crying about the Refs. How about not turn the ball over so many times? How about go for two in OT? How about not lose your cool on the sidelines? Bad calls from the refs, but that can be overcome. Some of you (most) are overly dramatic if you think the refs cost Michigan the game.

Because at the end, they didn't convert the 4th down. That means the game is over and we win, who cares if we didn't make a play, neither did they, but they were given one. The refs should do their fucking job regardless, they should throw flags for PI on 3rd down in OT, just because the pass wasn't better or the WR couldn't make a miracle catch doesn't mean that they shouldn't throw the flag.

First off I just wanna say how much this forum server software sucks donkey cock. It's annoying as hell the server backend not being able to handle the fan load. If it's a matter if money let us know how fucking much but for God sake fix this 20 year old bullshit Secondly we played well but the coaches have not invested enough time in training the guys not to make stupid fouls not to mention conditioning has slipped. Championship teams do not fuck themselves with flags like we did all damn day irrespective of the dirty fanduel refs we had. Next year we need to contract some OOC refs because B1G refs are all blind or dirty

Pick 6. Another dumb interception to set them up at the 10. Fumble at the 1 yard line. He gave the game away. I don't care about refs or anything else, the QB choked the game away in the worst way.

How the hell do you not even review the 4th down spot?  You do that, uphold it, then find.  But when you don't even try to see if it was accurate, how do you not expect us to be pissed about it?

The only thing that kept me from crying was other people being around, and I don't cry much about anything. Perhaps the toughest loss as a sports fan in my life.

Losing the turnover battle, some terrible non pass interference in first and fourth quarter favoring OSU defense, while calling the other way against Delano on arguably uncatchable ball, took the game to OT, then we stopped them on 4th down but bad spot advanced even further by second official is what OSU needed to win this game.   Been watching football for more than 50 years, and was thinking this was going to be maybe one of the two best games I have seen in my life had Michigan won.  Amazing.

Expect O'Korn and expected 13+ loss. FG leads were a misnomer. Officiating and announcing were rough. Borderline could have lost to WI anyways. Let's get our practices in, get healthy and finish top 5 in the country. We didn't hire Les Miles and every year of getting close just gets under Harbaugh's skin.

Well, we're in some real pretty shit now. What the fuck are we supposed to do, root for the pedos? Cuz fuck hoping those scarlet and gray fucks win it all. Anyway, the pressure's off and now i can go back to not giving a shit about football for another off-season.

Supposedly we won't have another chance at a national championship until 2019. I'm 65. Don't think that I'll make it. At least I was alive in 97.

We made too many mistakes, yes.  And that, not the refs is more the reason why we lost, but every 50/50 call that could've been made went against us.  The Delano Hill pass intereference penalty on OSU's last drive?  If you call that, how the FUCK do you not call the zillion other similar grabs that OSU's secondary did?

I'll try: - Root for MSU to beat PSU. - Root for UW to win big over OSU in the championship game. - Root for anybody playing Alabama, Clemson, Washington, and Oklahoma. - Just root for chaos. If OSU could make the CFP w/o a conference crown, it's still possible we could. Not plausible though.

I am also confused on using Peppers with no real counter to the normal BS....at least have him fake throwing the ball once.  A lot of hype for no substance in the end.

Shots downfield - I think I remember one time Speight looked past about 15-20 yds.

Random at times....3rd down and long play action passes from your own end zone seem particularly stupid calls.

Defense were warriors for most of the game, Offense did fine but had a couple of critical errors, Special teams were good, it just wasn't in the cards this time. It likely won't be in the cards next year but nothing lasts forever. At some point Michigan will catch up, we have the right coach and the right program and things are on the rise. It sucks right now, but we all knew breaking the streak against OSU will not be easy, just as breaking the steak against MSU wasn't easy. It's going to happen, just won't be as easy as we want it to be.

Unreal. Just unbelievable. Speight managed to play so well but make 2 monstrous mistakes. Maybe should've gone for 2 in first OT but fuck. Who knows anymore. He was short.

It's all about recruiting. Hopefully when Harbaugh gets his qb we will be able to take it to them on offense. Spend all offseason preparing the defense and preparing for them because we're better than the other 12 teams in this league.
