That and the fact that OSU could lose possibly 4 OLineman next year, chance are pretty good that some of the younger guys are going to get a shot at starting. Sounds like he made up his mind and was justifying his decision.

02/16/2018 - 9:11pm Not a chance

8 wins is the floor.

01/20/2018 - 9:51am The 1956 NY Giants

had an assistant coach who was flailing about and finally went to the players and asked what he was doing wrong and what he needed to change. Going forward, he turned out to be a pretty good coach. In fact, I think they named a trophy after him that is awarded every year toward the end of January or early February. Just saying...

11/19/2017 - 8:24am Not a UM fan but

UM will be just fine. Lost a ton of talent last year to the nfl, and the lack of depth of previous drafts has been exposed. While Hoke was pulling in top draft classes, they were top classes based on arbitrary rankings of organizations like 247 and espn. I remember a few of the higher recruits who were not pursued as strongly by competitors and gave UM a false sense of having "highly ranked" recruiting classes. Morris, Green, Peppers, (I know, Peppers was a good player, but he was highly overrated - perhaps in great part by the way he was used, the fact that he had several coaches, and played several positions - never was able to get excellent in one of them), Kalis, etc...

The previous recruiting has given a false sense of the talent available to JH and I think we will see improvement to the point that UM will be back to a very good program by 2019.

10/22/2017 - 9:26pm No time to panic

What did anyone expect. Lost 14 guys to the NFL, 1 starter returns on D. Even though the recruiting classes were ranked pretty high, I think a lot of recruiting mistakes were made pre-JH. Almost as if the recruiting was done by the 247 composite. We are still paying the price.

Remember the last 10 years and have patience. Expectations are high.

09/03/2017 - 3:39pm Kid is a beast - he ate

Kid is a beast - he ate blocks and allowed others to get stats. He is fast for a big man!

09/03/2017 - 8:55am Defense looked great - but

Defense looked great - but what was most encouraging was the running game.

08/06/2017 - 8:48pm Saw 3 PSU games last year -

Saw 3 PSU games last year - had not seen that many arm punts since Johnny Football was launching them for A&M.

12/31/2016 - 7:00pm Its the OLine

The offensive line has been a problem for a long time. Until that gets fixed, the QB and running backs are going to look less than stellar.

12/04/2016 - 5:02pm Manziel like

Manziel used to do the same thing (throw it up for grabs) - all the time. I said the same thing about McSorely, but he keeps on doing it. It is maddening to watch but it works? He did it vs Purdue, MSU, OSU and WI.

11/29/2016 - 9:17pm So you are telling me there is a chance

Having listened to the college playoff show tonight, it is clear they are trying to pick the 4 best teams and I really think that they think Michigan is one of those. They have a big problem with Washington's strength of schedule. I think if Washington even looks crappy, the top 4 could be:

1. Alabama   2. Clemson   3. Ohio State   4. Michigan

Based on what they were saying tonight, I think the committee clearly considers Michigan better than WI or PSU, regardless of what happens in the B1G Championship Game.

11/29/2016 - 9:07pm Based on the playoff show, I

Based on the playoff show, I think if Washington wins but even looks crappy doing it, it will be 1 - Alabama   2 - Clemson    3 - Ohio State  4 - Michigan

11/27/2016 - 9:35am Good spot

11/27/2016 - 9:33am The spot was good

11/27/2016 - 9:29am Guess you missed the Peppers meltdown

Peppers did hit a fan after the game and then pushed an OSU coach.

11/27/2016 - 9:27am Good spot - other plays were questionable

11/27/2016 - 9:24am You are correct

There were other calls worse than that spot - the spot was good.

11/27/2016 - 9:21am Barrett not going anywhere

He would not be drafted or a very low round pick. He will stay next year.

11/27/2016 - 9:15am The spot was fine - there were other calls that were not

11/27/2016 - 9:12am Cole had his hand in his face for 7 yards

That was a good call - there were others that were much worse.

11/27/2016 - 9:10am He did make it

There were a couple of other calls that were worse than this one earlier in the game.

11/26/2016 - 4:30pm Barrett was not short

...he mad the line with forward progress.

11/26/2016 - 4:26pm Sorry

it was a first down.

11/14/2016 - 2:44pm O'Korn will be ready

No doubt Harbaugh will have him ready to play - he is not an untested freshman who has never been in a game before.

08/22/2016 - 8:05pm NFL Talent

Actually I think they have had a pretty good track record of producing NFL recievers.

08/22/2016 - 8:05pm NFL Talent

Actually I think they have had a pretty good track record of producing NFL recievers.

02/20/2016 - 2:58pm Satelite camp

I think OSU held a satelite camp last year in Jacksonville?

02/20/2016 - 2:52pm 5 star

He was a 5 star in all of the services and the #1 rated RB in the nation.

02/20/2016 - 2:49pm Good Luck.

Good Luck.

01/18/2016 - 6:06pm You are right

The services all put too much emphasis on quantity. When Butch Jones first started at TN, they were signing 27-28 kids a class and were always near the top becasue of quantity.

01/18/2016 - 6:04pm After today

OSU has nine on the top 100 list.

01/18/2016 - 5:52pm Actually they have 9

with the two today.

01/16/2016 - 8:28pm Agree

I could not agree more.

01/16/2016 - 10:44am Not correct

Even though OSU is a larger school now than Michigan, living alumni are both measured at around 550,000.  The New York times also did an article a couple of years ago about fan bases and again Michigan and OSU are very close. OSU was meaured at 3.2M and Michigan at 2.9M. Surprisingly, Penn State was 3rd at 2.6M, followed by Notre Dame in 4th and Texas in 5th. They also showed Auburn and Alabama to be nearly equal at about 1.9M each.

Merchandise sales are a lot harder to pin down, but both Michigan and Ohio State generally appear in the top 8 in any study done.

01/16/2016 - 10:29am Difference in either case

Michigans deal is 11 years with a 4 year option. In either case the deal at 11 or 15 years is worth about $11.2M per year.

OSU's deal is 15 years for $252M or about $16.8M per year - a difference of about $5.5M per year in any case.

01/16/2016 - 10:26am Deal details

Michigan gets an average of $11.1M per year if the opt out at 11 years (11 years at $122M)

They would get an average of $11.3M per year if they keep the option for 15 years (15 years at $169M)

Ohio State gets $252M for 15 years or $16.8M pe year

01/16/2016 - 10:20am Mixing up the deal

Michigan:
11 years at $122M=  $11.1M/year, or take option for
15 years at $169M =  $11.3M/year
OSU:
15 years at $252M= $16.8M/year

07/02/2015 - 7:09pm Good Comeback

...and JH was right. I listened to the interview and a couple of the questions he asked, I had no idea what he was asking, and JH didn't either - and it was at this point that Cowherd gave up rather abruptly. I was actually surprised that he did that.

06/27/2015 - 6:51am 10-2 at least

Not a Michigan fan but I think UM will go at least 10-2 this year.Regardless of everything else (Talent, QB) the schedule is not super tough and the tougher games are at home. The main thing that I think gets overlooked is that JH will add a dimension to the team that has been lacking for a long time - discipline and toughness. I think that alone keeps them in every game. I would be more surprised to see them go 7-5 than I would see them finish 11-1.
