Talent identification, being the first to offer and establishing early relationships are huge factors in recruiting. Stuff like that could pay big dividends at a place like Michigan. He didn’t get these kids because they blew up and ultimately chose to go somewhere with more prestige and national recognition.

Top 100 is an arbitrary cutoff, but Ronnie Bell and Hassan Haskins jump to mind immediately. St. Juste didn't work out but he was a guy who ended up rated highly iirc.

It is completely possible to be happy that these kids have chosen to come to Michigan and that they will be playing for Michigan’s football team while also looking at the recent history of this coaching staff and question whether they will be able to maximize the use of the talent those kids have to win as many games as possible.
