What this thread is for: It's an ad-hoc way of tracking what threads and comments get removed. Mods that remove a thread should post the title here with a brief reason as to why the thread is gone.

Don't comment in this thread unless you have to: if you leave an irrelevant comment in this thread it will be deleted (see: "cumbrously long").

Things we will moderate so hard that if we were the government you’d probably have a 1st Amendment case but we’re not so shaddup about your freedom of speech this ain’t no democracy it’s just a message board run by people who believe in democracy.

  1. Politics. Don’t you get enough of this everywhere else?
     
    How moderation looks from our end.
  2. Noise. We ask our moderators to try really hard not to censor ideas, but we do control noise. If you’re getting a substantial amount of downvotes we’ll look to see if you’re posting an unpopular opinion that you can support. If you can’t support it politely and rationally, or if you don’t acknowledge the holes in your argument, it’s noise.
  3. Useless content from other sites. There are a lot of sites feeding a lot of Michigan content out there, and a lot of that is good stuff. But more than ever these days a lot of it is just stuff which tries to tickle your fancy or make you mad about something. 247, WTKA always get the benefit of the doubt.
  4. The Drew Sharp Memorial Don’t Feed the Professional Trolls Rule. Pete Finebaum has taken the place of the late Sharp. Valenti and Chatsports are the other two on the ban list. By the time you have enough points to post an article you should know that some people make a living off of trying to get the legions of Michigan fans angry enough to click.
  5. Bewbs and general misogyny/objectifying of women. We tried one year of this and our female readership shot up after being really low. This means it’s a good rule: however much you enjoy cutting loose with the guys, we have tens of thousands of readers it drives away.

Agrre timmy and bando are the worse though no doubt they have been complete losers Ther whole life. I have a solid account that ive had for years with well over 10k but my sole purpose with this side account and any others is to exploit dbaggerey and softness of this blog. Anyyime somebody says something that the mgonerds dont agree with they get attacked and ridiculed til they get banned. You people who whine about new posters and people u disagree with are the ones who have wrecked this blog.

use this "dummy" account to hide behind in order not to risk the precious 10K point account? And you use this dummy account, not to present well presented arguments but rather make ad-hominem attacks? If people disagree with your view, is it because you failed to present it in a well thought out and considerate manner? Or do you just have a temper tantrum? dbaggery? softness? mgonerds? Are these the words you use with people that you disagree with? And you wonder why they urge for your banning? You don't expose anything except yourself. If this is an example of your arguments and how you present them in your other account, you don't do anything to make this place better, you only make it worse.

No i just dont bother to log into my account anymore cause its a waste to have serious conversations. I already explained why above and you proved my point again. This place use to be fun but now its infiltrated with people like you. Its a message board if u dont like what someone says move along. The group think and mob mentality of this place is pathetic. If you dont think important people in the Michigan family have noticed it you are fooling yourself.

why you don't bother to log into 1 account but do with another. There is a difference in logging in between one and the other? Doesn't matter. I have "infiltrated" this place since about 2005, well back in the haloscan days. As you could probably judge by my points and posting history, I post an average of a couple of times a week. I don't see how this would create such a problem with you. I'd be surprised if you or anyone else on this blog actually can recall me or any post that I have made prior to a week or so ago. I didn't disagree with you about the tendency of the mob mentality/group think that tends to go on here. I agree, think it can be a problem for the blog, and yes, it can be difficult to present contrary points of view. But I don't think the answer is to make OPs/comments that are right off the bat antagonistic or worse. You are just going to get it back 10 times worse. For the most part, it use to be that if you posted your points respectfully and thoughtfully, people would respond in the manner that you presented yourself. It is less so now, but like you said, you do so just move on. People that respond in a dick manner expose more about themselves more than anything about you. Finally, I don't know anyone important in the "Michigan family" anymore. Used to know some in the administration and faculty, but that was prior to the internet. I'd be somewhat surprised if any of them would be at all concerned about the sociology (or would that be sociopathy?) of a particular message board. Who important in the Michigan community has noticed this, or are you referring to the AD guy playing Whack-a-Troll on the twitters?

I don't know that this one has much of a future on the board at 40 downvotes, no offense to the OP. Not trying to discourage questions, but I think the board made its answer known in a hurry here.
