Michigan locked into 2:30 B1G Tournament game

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Plan your excuses now for getting off work next week.

With tonight's win, Michigan is officially locked into a 2:30 game. Whether the first B1G Tournament game is on Thursday or Friday is still up in the air.

We get the 4 seed double bye if and only if these two things both happen-

  • Michigan beats Maryland on Saturday
  • Penn State beats Nebraska on Sunday

The opening game for the team at MSG would be on Friday in the Quarterfinals at 2:30 if the double bye is secured.

Otherwise, 2:30pm on Thursday in the Second Round against the winner of the 12 seed vs Rutgers First Round game. Should we win that hypothetical game, back at it on Friday at 2:30pm against the 4 seed Nebraska.

The upside to being fired last year, going back to school and having classes on Monday's and Wednesday’s only this semester. I know what I’m doing at 2:30 Thursday and/or Friday. All you gainfully employed bastards can eat shit.

Less happily, we're locked into playing Nebraska barring an upset by the 12/13 seed.  That matchup did not go very well for us.  Nebrasketball is less frightening away from Lincoln, but still.

was us losing tonight and dropping to the sixth seed to have to play Purdue in quarters.

That is something we definitely did not want (give me Purdue in the semi's or the finals but not the quarters).

So bring on Nebraska.  I welcome the opportunity for a nother shot at them.  They match up well with us but we're a different team.

with MSU.  Z is a tough matchup for Winston because he can force Winston into making TOs and can beat him pretty easily on the offensive end.

Wagner is a tough matchup for Ward because Ward isn't comfortable playing away from the hoop.  I would actually expect to see Jackson on Wagner if we face them again.  That could neutralize Wagner but it would pull Jackson and his shot blocking away from the hoop and then what do they do with Ward/Shilling?

I don't think our win over them was a fluke.

Purdue is a tougher matchup because we can't guard Haas with one guy, and they matchup better with our perimeter players.

OSU I'll agree with you to an extent.  I think they've been a nice story but they seem to be fading with a lack of depth.

I have to give my wife credit with her being a new yorker this whole "college sports thing" boggled her mind at first. They are so pro sports oriented she was schocked the first time I took her to a michigan game that "100,000 would watch kids play a game".

We also live in Columbus, OH and she wears her Michigan stuff all over town and takes the abuse so she is a a trooper I think she may want to go to a game.

That said, we are staying right at the renaissance in times square so shopping may win out lol.

Heading to New York next week for a reunion with a bunch of my alum friends, some who live there and some who don't. Us out of towners don't arrive until after the Thursday games, so hopefully we make it to Friday!
