Sources: There have been preliminary discussions about moving the Michigan-Florida season opener at AT&T Stadium to Sunday, Sept. 3. Both schools still must sign off on the date change. The game is currently set for Saturday, Sept. 2.

Nothing I do or say will change it. Big time money and TV network suits are apparently the most important people now to keep happy.

If it happens, it would be far from the most disappointing thing the new AD has done/failed to do.

Might as well play Friday night games on the road, too. That would be the only game on TV that night, so I guess it's positive exposure.

Yeah, and the noodle was far from the worst thing that guy did.

We'll find out more about Warde after hockey season.

A lot of people don't see or care beyond Football and Basketball. There's a few really dumb things he's done.

The only issue with a move to Sunday is for the players. They would have to travel back late Sunday night and prepare for the Week 2 game against Cincinnati on a short week with the Labor Day holiday and classes starting. Not ideal for them, but how many of these decisions are ever made with them in mind? Pretty sure that isn't even why WD is upset.

one reason not to like it is that it creates a difficult prep week for the game against U of Cincinnatti.

An afternoon game on Sunday (they won't put it at 1 p.m.) means not only losing a day, but also getting pack to AA late and being tired for Monday practice.

Probably will beat Cincinnatti anyway, but why create a difficult practice week?  Why give Cincinnati 6 days to prepare and M only 4.5?

I am more worried about injuries with a short week and distractions due to the start of school than Cincinnati.

And Cincinnati was bad for the AAC, but it has better talent than the MAC or FCS. I don't know how good a coach Luke Fickell is, but Scott Frost took a worse UCF team statistically and made them decent in his 1st year. Michigan should handle them, but I would call them bad 4 times. Maybe just the one.

Some of you guys are the kings of First World Problems with regards to Michigan football. So what if the game moves to Sunday. Do I like them more on Saturday? Sure. Do I understand why they might move a big non-conference game to a Sunday on opening weekend just like how I understood why we played Utah on a Thursday night? Sure.

I'll watch Michigan football at 4 am on a Tuesday if that's what it takes. Some of you get your panties in a bind if Michigan isn't playing Saturday at noon

All I care about is Michigan beating Florida and setting a winning tone for the rest of the season.

There is no benefit to Michigan or Florida. The game is at JerryWorld and will have a great audience on Saturday. Why isn't ESPN asking Alabama and Florida State to move their game? Or even LSU and UCLA?

Now, if ESPN wants to sweeten the deal in a manner which cannot be shared or divided with other Big Ten or SEC teams, that's another matter.

This game is already being played in a sterile pro stadium in a town that neither team is from.  Why not play it on a Sunday to complete the anemic "exhibition game" look and feel?

I would rather actually play this game in Gainseville than in Dallas at Jerry World.

I hope this is the last of these.

I am planning to travel to Dallas for the game. Game on Sunday means i can basically tailgate all day saturday (at the bars) and sunday (at the stadium). Since Monday is Labor Day, I can recover and fly home. Perfect. I prefer pre-game parties to post-game parties win or lose. The game always takes a lot out of me so I'm aleays exhaused and hoarse after. Two days of pregaming is epic and I embrace it!!

Those Labor Day weekend Sundays don't feel like Sundays though as far as football games go. No NFL is on I believe, and we'll be the only game on, wrapping up a weekend where everyone is still super obsessedomistic about their own teams. Its kind of a quasi-bowl game vs an SEC foe that also happens to be our bitch. That will surely be noted for alllll the 'croots and doubters out there watching. I see more positives than negatives, as long as we win.

I would think this an awful idea. We have a young team and they would have to get on a plane Sunday night and play again, likely at noon the next Saturday? No thanks.

In fact, I kind of like the idea.  First week of the season, a premier program, opening up with a tougher opponent, the isolation of the stage for Michigan seems fitting.  Go BLUE!
