Sounds about right.
October 20th, 2019 at 2:36 PM ^
That's not too horrible. The loss hurts and obviously puts Michigan in a dire position in the division race, but all is not lost with 3 rivalry games left. It's onward to ND.
I'm surprised UW only fell to 13 after losing to Illinois.
October 20th, 2019 at 2:36 PM ^
Meaningless now. Get ready for ND. Hopefully the crowd will be electric
October 20th, 2019 at 5:08 PM ^
Considering the ticket prices on stubhub, a lot of bailing out for the remainder of the season. I am thinking we won’t get a crowd like we saw last night. Would be nice though.
October 20th, 2019 at 2:43 PM ^
Wiscy loss didn't help our ranking. See 2 loss Texas for comparison.
October 20th, 2019 at 2:43 PM ^
Meanwhile, the Coaches polls put us at #20 behind.......#19 Iowa. lol You can't make this shit up.
October 20th, 2019 at 2:49 PM ^
Meh. What does it matter? It's not like it affects Tournament seeding or anything.
October 20th, 2019 at 2:45 PM ^
Sounds about right.
October 20th, 2019 at 2:46 PM ^
Can't argue with it, given our season as a whole, but the Michigan team of last night looked better than a #19 team IMO. We'll see where we go from here.
October 20th, 2019 at 2:50 PM ^
No big deal. Beat ND and move up.
October 20th, 2019 at 2:51 PM ^
Big ten title is obviously out this year for us but we can still finish w 10 wins and play in a New Years 6 bowl game. Finebaum, valenti, Vilma, and Acho can all suck a dick. Not EVERYTHING is lost for the season. Beat our rivals!
October 20th, 2019 at 2:51 PM ^
As crummy as we felt after Ronnie couldn't hang on, if 'we' go beat those MFers from South Bend Saturday night we're right back to a likely top-12 team...and it wouldn't be much of an argument after how well we showed last night.
October 20th, 2019 at 2:55 PM ^
So we'll beat Notre Dame and move up a few spots. OSU will beat PSU and knock them down a few, maybe out of the top 10.
Beat Maryland and Indiana and we will be ranked around 10 for The Game against top 4 ranked OSU.
We'll beat them this year and go to the Rose Bowl.
October 20th, 2019 at 3:05 PM ^
THE SEASON IS LOST, MANNNN
October 20th, 2019 at 3:11 PM ^
Isn't it impossible to go to the rose bowl right now? If we beat OSU they still go to Indy and the winner of that Indy game will either go to the playoff or the rose bowl. If the winner goes to the playoff the loser goes to the rose bowl. Michigan is in like 5th place for a rose bowl bid.
The only scenario would be PSU loses twice OSU loses twice.
October 20th, 2019 at 3:17 PM ^
Wait, so the Rose Bowl is only on the table for teams that make it to Indy?
Fuck that. And fuck the playoffs. We should go back to the AP picking the MNC.
October 20th, 2019 at 4:11 PM ^
Actually you're correct the Rose bowl can take whoever they want. They picked OSU over the championship game loser in 2015. But still Michigan would have to somehow jump OSU, PSU, and Wisconsin having already lost to 2 of those teams. Then Minnesota is also a wild card.
October 20th, 2019 at 5:12 PM ^
Also, the problem with rooting for the Rose Bowl means you're rooting for OSU to go to the playoff despite losing to us. If we beat them I want the satisfaction of knowing we knocked them out.
October 20th, 2019 at 10:17 PM ^
That's not true. 2015 OSU went to the Fiesta Bowl. The Rose Bowl picked Iowa. MSU went to the CFP.
I think the Rose Bowl is obligated to take the higher ranked team. Iowa was 5th, OSU was 7th.
October 20th, 2019 at 4:51 PM ^
If the Big Ten winner makes the playoff the Rose Bowl can take whoever they'd like as the second best. However, the only way we'd get that is probably a highly unlikely combination of:
- Michigan wins out to get to 10-2.
- The Big Ten West representative in Indy is no better than a 10-2 Minnesota or 9-3 Wisconsin that loses to OSU in Indy, preferably in a blowout. I think we'd go over 10-3 Minnesota but going over 10-3 Wisconsin seems unlikely given their blowout of us, they probably need to be 9-4.
- PSU loses @MSU, @Minnesota and @OSU to finish 9-3.
Needing Minnesota to beat PSU makes it harder to get the West winner the number of losses they need. Most likely is probably either Minnesota gets upset either @Northwestern or vs. Maryland but beats Wisconsin at home......or Wisconsin loses either vs. Iowa or @Nebraska but beats Minnesota on the road (all of those scenarios assume Wisconsin losing @OSU and Minnesota losing @Iowa, the most probable losses for both teams besides each other).
However, though the Rose Bowl seems unlikely, a 10-2 Michigan with wins over OSU/ND is basically guaranteed a NY6 slot (Cotton or Orange).

I actually think we have a much better chance at home against OSU than PSU has. I've watched PSU play a few times and they just don't look impressive. Maybe the most overrated 6th ranked team in awhile. Might be looking at it through Maize & Blue glasses, but I think we can keep it somewhat close against OSU while they stomp the piss out of PSU. Both our OL and DL just seem to match up better with OSU than the PSU lines - especially their way overrated DL who really only pressured Shea just a handful of times. Just think the better team lost last night.
October 20th, 2019 at 5:04 PM ^
I think if Michigan and Penn State played 10 times on a neutral field we'd win 6 or 7 of them.
I think both Michigan and Penn State would only win 1 out of 10 games on a neutral field vs. OSU. Luckily we're at home and unfortunately for them they're in the Horseshoe.
October 20th, 2019 at 7:49 PM ^
I agree, PSU hasn’t looked impressive this season. Curious as to what games you’ve seen this year from UM that makes you think they have a better chance against OSU than PSU? I don’t see the Oline or Dline holding up, not to mention the secondary?
October 20th, 2019 at 2:56 PM ^
Minnesota hasn't played anyone with a pulse.

October 20th, 2019 at 3:00 PM ^
Too lazy to check the others but playing 3 ranked opponents in 7 games may potentially be considered the toughest schedule so far in college football.
October 20th, 2019 at 3:07 PM ^
South Carolina begs to differ (Bama, UGA, Florida)
October 20th, 2019 at 3:08 PM ^
Bama without Tua COULD be interesting.
October 20th, 2019 at 3:28 PM ^
Their intramural team could beat Arkansas
October 20th, 2019 at 4:39 PM ^
Supposedly, Tua will be back for the LSU game. He better be.
October 20th, 2019 at 3:18 PM ^
So does Texas A&M (beg to differ that is)...
Clemson
Auburn
Bama
Michigan would get fucking slaughtered against all those teams.
October 20th, 2019 at 3:16 PM ^
Realistically Michigan is probably the 15th best team in the country. Michigan would beat SMU, Baylor, Minn, Cincy, and Utah.
Oregon, Auburn, and Texas would be toss ups.
October 20th, 2019 at 4:11 PM ^
I'm thinking that the offense may be turning the corner. Shea looked more comfortable in the pocket in the second half and the run blocking was pretty good. I think Charbonnet had a very good game. Sorry for poor Ronnie Bell. We will need for him to snap back and make a few tough catches down the stretch. Hope he can and will. Eliminate the untimely mistakes and we will beat almost anyone if we can replicate the attitude and execution of the second half (without the drop).
Go Blue!
October 20th, 2019 at 4:51 PM ^
Ehh, dropped too much more my liking. We were the better team.
Though I'm sure not many of the voters actually watched the game. I think we're better than #19.
October 20th, 2019 at 5:58 PM ^
The Wisky drop was more than generous. I guess the AP didn’t want Wisky unranked after osu dismantles them on national television.
October 20th, 2019 at 9:59 PM ^
Does it even matter at this point?
October 21st, 2019 at 12:06 AM ^
Don’t care. Beat ND
October 21st, 2019 at 3:31 PM ^
Michigan wins out, top ten...
