MGoBlog Appreciation Thread
Throughout the search process, there were SO many different stories written by so many different outlets. Each of them contained some level of truth and some level of bias. Some were more truthful than others, while some were FAR more biased than others. Some (e.g., all ESPN NFL reporters, etc.) were just up their own ass.
By the end, I wasn't looking at anything but the Searchbits. I appreciate Brian and the blog for wading through the garbage to find the gold. And for presenting the useful information in a relatively non-biased way. Each Searchbits showed the good and the bad, and gave supporting and logical evidence for the good and detracting evidence for the bad.
As the search hype ramped up, I had so many people randomly telling me about shit they read, which was usually ESPN or some other major news outlet, and was usually wrong/stupid. I was constantly regurgitating the Searchbits from memory in order to explain how dumb those writers were and I probably sounded like a total homer duche. But I was right. And so was the blog.
tl;dr: Props to MGoBlog on its excellent reporting of the coaching search. And thanks.
Harbaugh.

No offense to anyone in this thread, but if you REALLY want to express appreciation to brian, click that Beveled Guilt button. Money talks.

(I think of that as $50 for banning Section One and $50 for Brandon's resignation. Next time I get around to making a donation I'll have to include $50 for searchbits.)

where did you cut/paste that from? I don't see it on my account, but maybe because I just made the donation OR because I'm having to re-log in repeatedly as was the case a month ago. Anyhow I put up $50 and hope they can see where it came from.

It's from Paypal...is that enough information to clear it up? Or did you already know that?

I was going to post that too, in fact I was going to start a thread suggesting this very thing. I really appreciate these updates, and all the other coverage throughout this difficult year. I just put up $50 and hope others will follow with whatever they can do right now. It would be great to give the blog a bonus to start the new year.

So many thanks are in order to Brian and the rest of the team here at MGB. Keep kicking ass gents, your UFRs just got a lot more fun!

Great suggestion and $50 seems like a small pittance to pay for the warm, comforting embrace that Searchbits/MGoBlog provided during some dark times.
PS: Repeated 503 errors. If this ends up posting multiple times...well, Yay!

Basically a better version of Serial, now with more Harbaugh. As it should be.

Between Searchbits and the WD email saga, Brian has proven himself to be a class act as a journalist. We are seriously lucky to have him.
I suspect that, one day, he will move onto a high-paying media job. Until that happens (and even after that happens), though, he should be prohibited from buying his own alcohol.
Free drinks for life.

Without Hackett being hired when he was, and thus Brandon not resigning when he did, it's hard to see this going down.

I love it. Thanks guys! But, shouldn't it be blinking on the front page right now?!?! Didn't Harbaugh just board the plane at 10 am? That gif is an actual event. (No confirmation on whether he was wearing a hat though).

Amazingly, I'm still employed. Not much work was done in the month of December.

So many thank you's to the people who kept us all sane during this process.
I was only sold on the idea that It was Happening (TM) when Brian confirmed it. The writers on this blog creatively, humorously, and with (sometimes brutal) honesty encapsulate Michigan fandom on a day-to-day basis.
Well done.

for wanting to come back and right the sinking ship of our football program. I'm still in shock that this happened. Thank You to our University and Hackett who made the right moves favorable for Jim's return to Michigan, this time as our coach. And thanks to Brian who knew what sources to believe and did an excellent job keeping us inform. It will be fun again following the team!

As other have said above, this blog has proven to be both an agent for change (bye bye Brandon) as well as a responsible citizen/journalist which performed a vital function of keeping us informed on a timely basis...and not just throwing out random but potentially juicy rumors. Brian and team did a wonderful job of not falling prey to chasing clicks/eyeballs by becoming rumour central.
Love the job you did. My beveled guilt is on the way.

FWIW, I learned about this site during the Dave Brandon "tit-for-tat" exchange time frame, mostly from Drew Lane and some others. But I've been a fan since Dennis Franklin was QB.
Harbaugh coming home made a lot of sense to me but was starved for info, so I started reading MGoBoard, joined, and from there it's been a constant obsession. Top notch fans are contributing, and I'm enjoying it immensely! Thanks!

Friday is payday. :) Thanks Brian. The last 3 months were much easier to endure with this site. Between the great writing and the discussion boards it got me through. God Bless all and Hell Yeah to 2015!

I would like to extend my appreciation to the sense of community here as well - I don't think I have ever seen so many people that invested in the future of one thing, the filling of one position, as I have over these past four weeks. We are indeed a highly engaged and motivated fanbase and, as others have mentioned, we've become a voice in circles where we probably wouldn't have gotten a mention a short while ago. Stellar work by all who post and contribute here.
