Mark Dantonio Violates New NCAA Rule Prohibiting Sub-Tweeting of Recruits

Submitted by EastCoast Esq. on

Michigan State just received a commitment from IMG TE Jack Camper. Following that commitment, Dantonio sent out the following tweet:

Congrats on Ascending from the Sunshine State to the Spartans. Will set up Camp permanently in EL next Jan. 2017. #V4MSU!

As noted by Baumgardner, this is likely a violation of the new NCAA rule against subtweeting recruits. I personally think that State should be given the death penalty for this egregious violation of a very serious, not stupid at all rule.

This is why Harbaugh stresses the importance of knowing the rule book backwards and forwards.  You need to know how to gain an advantage within the rules, not by breaking the rules.

I hate it when people say "congratulations on." It's "congratulations for" or "contratulations to."

It really is a stupid rule just for the inability to effectively police Twitter alone, at least on the level required by the NCAA apparently. Besides, there are more pressing issues in the world, such as the marginalization of soccer in some communities -

My guess is that our friend, ostensibly from down under, is more of an Australian Rules football or rugby person, and it is interesting that at least the media in Australia has been accused in the past of having a somewhat negative perception of the sport. It may just be the small sample of Australians that I've met in my life, but not once in a discussion of sports did soccer get bashed, but obviously there are always folks that simply don't care for a given activity.
