LB Commit Raylen Wilson runs a 10.91
Elite speed for a LB. Hopefully we can hold onto this kid.

Here's the video. I think he is in the next to last lane.

No Fly Zone indeed
Elite speed? I'm pretty sure I could run a 10.91 on a good day. (Wait, we're talking about the 100 and not the 40? Never mind...)
Let's hope he can tackle.
Username checks out, you cruel evil dick.
For reference, remind me again what Denard ran it in, please...
10.44 when he was in high school.

I think I read that the DE recruit were on, Harbor, at 6-5 220, ran a 10.36 ? Wonder if it was the same distance.

But Denard wasn't a LINEBACKER :)
I wonder how fast Nakobe Dean could run the100 in High School
Harbor is a total freak... and hopefully a Michigan Freak
The play where we put Corum in space one-on-one v Dean and Dean CAUGHT HIM FROM BEHIND was the play that told me we were in trouble v Georgia.
I know the exact play and had a very similar feeling. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen a linebacker make a play like that.
I knew we were in trouble when their #99 walked out for the coin flip and looke 33% larger than anybody on our O-line…and turned out he was quick too

and he was already sweating

Or Georgia lines up on the first play from scrimmage and pummels right through the DL for a nine yard gain.
Was just one play, but to me, it kind of had a feel of Creed and Drago touching gloves. Any sense of confidence and bravado that I had got knocked down 4-5 pegs, even though I didn't want to show it.

Could be the latest heat seeking missile at LB, a la Devin Bush.

This is an improvement from 11.19 last year for him. At his size especially, he is incredibly impressive. Really hope we can hold on because he has clear first round potential.
Shhh, don't tell Jimbo.
I don't like the fact that his name is Raylen Wilson... almost the same exact name as Jalen Wilson. Hopefully he doesn't pull out of his commitment like Jalen did.
Yeah, you should definitely shit on the kid for having a similar name to another recruit.
Lol, I'm not shitting on the kid. I'm mostly joking about the similarities of his name to a kid who spurned Michigan.

Just looking for a straw to grasp
Close enough to Raylan Givens that he'd probably be justified in tracking you down.

Huh?
Justified
That's WR speed
Not to knock how important having speed is for a linebacker (or DE), but how useful is it really? I mean they aren't typically running from one end of the field to the other, and it would seem that having quickness over short distances would be more important, in addition to having skills like tackling, shredding blocks, and positioning. Top end speed is nice but I would think more relevant and useful for WR or HB that are trying to pull away from the defense. It seems wasted on other positions.
Not in every linebacker, but did you see Georgia's lbs? They chased us all over. Also, speed is critical everywhere
I don't think speed is *critical* everywhere, but it's definitely helpful everywhere.
The GOAT himself ran the 40 in 5.28 seconds after college. But more to the point, speed is very valuable at LB. I still have nightmares of Mike McCray getting burned in coverage.
We have decades of slow linebackers to list. It's killed us against mobile QBs, fast and shifty rbs, te matchups with our guy struggling to keep up.
If you want Wisconsin's or Iowa's defense, fine, we can beat up on Illinois and Maryland. But if we really want the national championship type defense and we want to make beating osu annually at least a topic of conversation, you need speed and size together, all over the field on defense
Well, to put it simply, this is a very large field upon which the game is played and speed is in fact the most important element in playing this position. The other skills you list are important but they are secondary to speed. SEC speed is not a hollow claim or a figment of someone's imagination. First and foremost, you cannot tackle what you cannot catch-and those of us who have played fully understand this reality.
Florida must be excited
Sideline to sideline speed covers up mistakes or shortcomings at other positions. I would love to pick him up for three years.

Hope we can hold onto him. If the Orange Bowl taught us anything, where we had to watch the fastest player on our team get caught from behind in his own backfield by Nakobe Dean, its that speed is the name of the game.
Will certainly help mitigate the damage that OSU's WR speed demons will be able to do in subsequent years.
I don't remember this "Orange Bowl" you speak of. Last year ended with a B1G title then ... it was the offseason right? Right?
Yea, that's right.
