The lameness of RG3 was so cringe-worthy that it deserves its own thread

Seriously. This dude needs to be banned from the broadcast booth forever. His "commentary" damn near ruined the game for me.

Guess I'll repost this in here since it will likely get buried in game thread.  Judge as you will.

Tally of RGIII, blossoming sex criminal, and his horny comments:

  • Started out with fixating on Corum's thighs, several times calling them "thick'ums"
  • Literally groaned, orgasmically, upon seeing Robbins' mustache
  • After a shot of female Michigan student fans in the crowd, he commented that they "look like they're trying to get married tonight."
  • The great Orji tease
  • The great Orgy in the Endzone

While hilarious, I am interested in odds: how many games until RGIII exposes himself on the air?

Seems like a mixed bag of replies so I'll just say this -

1) Mark Jones, usually don't mind- seemed lost. Incomplete pass? Fumble. Sack? Incomplete pass. Seemed to be preoccupied by RGIII's antics.

2) Orji statement(s)? - inappropriate for the audience. Lack of filter not "refreshing"

3 and should be 1) My guess is most of those who supported the Comments don't have children or care about kids. Entirely inappropriate discussion for a sporting event. Time and a place. I don't care about "progressive" culture or politics, but I can guarantee Keith Jackson would never have made a sexual joke so obvious.

4) The segment on michigan fan girls...Random creepy giggling like he was 12. Pretty gross first impression from my standpoint. Disappointing to see the positive reviews on here from the perspective of a parent with young kids in the house.

Oh pull the stick out of your hiney.  I was watching with my 10 year old *and* my elderly parents.  Everyone thought it was hilarious.

The 10 year old has been raised in a world of Jake Butt and endless butt jokes.  He knows where babies come from and how they are made.  Orgies were a new thing to explain - but it's not that hard to parent and explain it in a toned-down way that mostly made him go "huh" and scratch his head.

"Everyone thought it was hilarious."  Even the 5th grader who doesn't understand?  Glorifying sexual action to kids is not hilarious and no matter what "parenting" you're a master of, that isn't funny to me.

I am one of the most inappropriate people in my group of friends, but I don't make these comments in a family setting.  End of story.

RGIII turned me off pretty early in the game when his first impression of the student section was that he saw a couple of students throwing up from excessive tailgating. Yes, that happens and it’s not impossible that he saw what he says he saw, but is that really the key takeaway you want to provide? The comment about the girls who “are looking to get married tonight” was out of line. The Orji stuff suffered from lack of originality as much as anything else, and he went there twice.

Seems like an affable guy, but either a complete horn dog or a guy with filter issues. I’d rather have a more professional announcer and get my horny/off-color commentary elsewhere.

The comment about the coeds was cringe-worthy.  That was the most "offensive" thing he said, IMO.

That said, I don't really understand all the pearl-clutching about the Orji in the end zone.  I don't think I've ever had a bigger laugh watching a football game.  I didn't need all the foreshadowing, but the comment itself was funny (if admittedly childish).  My 6-year old was in the room (not watching the game, mind you, because if anyone can figure out how to make a 6-year old sit through a football game then please call me), and he asked why I was laughing.  I told him it was because there's a party in the end zone.  He couldn't care less.  Some parents feel the need to explain everything truthfully and in great detail to small children, I guess.  Or just say that the comment was made because, you know, his last name is Orji, and he's in the end zone.

I thought he was entertaining.

He missed some key details about our team and players, but he's learning.

Lack of replays and too many damn commercials were more of an isue, IMO.

I also did not enjoy his broadcast, but I can also see him improving quickly. Definitely some moments I wanted to mute my TV, but it was always when he was talking about something non-game related. I thought the actual analysis was fine.
