Kansas State QB Will Howard transferring

He's a grad transfer and might well be the best QB in the portal. I think because this year's QB draft class is loaded, JJ has a good reason to consider returning, but I'm going to assume that he will declare for the draft and will bring in at least one QB. Howard is gonna be highly sought after but since he'll be a 5th year, M should have little problem in getting him if they want him.

It’s quite clear that ND has accepted mediocrity when it comes to their football program.

Good enough to still care and watch but bad enough to never do anything meaningful. Maybe it’s because they no longer play UM but I haven’t heard anything poignant related to ND in years and that’s just fine with me.

Truly elite coaches can be counted on one hand for sure but any time you take a coordinator with zero head coaching experience it is a gamble. It could still pay off for them, who knows?
Sherrone Moore, for example, would’ve made people lose their minds if he became Michigan’s head coach prior to the Penn St and Ohio St games. Now, I’d say most people would be fine with him should Harbaugh leave any time soon(hoping not). He’s proven himself to be head coach worthy now.

Not as big of a deal for someone who has only been in college for a year.

I don’t think Michigan goes that route, I’d assume the staff was pretty turned off by how that recruitment went down. I also believe they’d be looking more for a bridge QB. A one year rental to get to Davis or (hopefully) Underwood. Not that they’d turn down an elite young talent.

Saw Dante play this weekend, every down.  He was BRUTAL.  Worse than his performance was his demeanor.  Just looked flat with no emotions.  Seemed disinterested, almost like an entitled, pouty kid

I was high on Dante as a recruit, but after seeing him play a few times, no thanks.  Don't think he's a good cultural fit.

If he transfers, wouldn’t that show that he indeed didn’t want to be there?  He’s been rumored to want to transfer since August.

I’m not saying I’d want him at Michigan, but I think he got some bad advice when he was choosing his school, and he wouldn’t be the first kid, star quarterback or otherwise, who had a rough freshman year because he went to the wrong place.

JJ has work to do if he wants to declare and be drafted in the 1st round imo. That being said, next year the offense will almost definitely have some growing pains with most of the OL being gone and replacing a lot of WR and probably both RBs. Maybe that creates a situation where you lean on JJ a little more and he can put up some more numbers that get him drafted higher? I don't know.

That could be a gamble for him as well. If he’s running for his life or getting hit often it could hurt his production. Other than Semaj, and Morris to a lesser extent, nobody has stepped up at wide receiver besides Wilson and CoJo. I’d hope we pick up one or two good linemen in the portal to go with returning talent. JJ will also look at who is coming back with him as well. Nobody wants to win 12+ games three years in a row and then take a step back as a senior.

KSU grad here. Interesting dude. Came in last year and played lights out winning the Big 12. If he plays even remotely the same this year, they are in the championship game this weekend. Def not all his fault, but he was just baaaaaad in several games. He was also very good in several games. I’d pass because of his decision making and interceptions, but it would be interesting seeing what JH could do with him. I doubt UM will give him a look for those reasons specifically.

If JJ declares: Cam Ward (if he enters portal)

For a multi year option to challenge existing Qb room:  perhaps  Nate Johnson or Brendan Sorsby from Indiana (3 to 1 td to int ratio as freshman running for his life plus has some mobility)
