Jordan Kovacs' lead for best SS is down to only 15%!!!
Okay, people, Jordan Kovacs' once vast lead for "Best SS in CFB" in the Phil Steele.com poll is down to only 15%!
Kovacs is sitting at ~45% of the vote while Harrison Smith of ND is at ~30%; apparently one of the Irish lurkers on our board decided to start "stuffing the box" (that's what she said!) for their guy.
It's a dog fight between two athletically challenged, gritty warriors and we cannot let those f*cking Domers win this battle. Get over to philsteele.com and vote!
I voted. Hope it's worth the seizure I'm about to have from that website.
I wonder what made him think that those color combination with the excessively large and bold fonts would actually look good.
Maybe it was a prediction?
Agreed. I showed it to my wife, in an effort to temporarily confuse her, as she was bitching at me about constantly looked at this blog. But I did vote!
I can't look at this site for one day without laughing so hard i nearly piss my pants.
I always feel like Phil Steele is trying to sell me fireworks or get me to do ecstasy with that website.
Who is going to play FS in 2011? Furman and Woolfolk are probably the only DBs with the speed to play FS. Carvin looked good at times but he is a big hitter and was often looking for the knockout hits. I really hope Mattison can finally defeat the powers that hate from above.
I think it all depends on where Woolfolk plays. If TW plays CB then I would say Carvin is the starter.
Kovacs. I think that Brian has him there based on the spring game. It makes no sense to me though.
It's because the FS was playing closer to the line and in-the-box than the strong safety during the Spring Game. And Kovacs was playing the FS position
If you watch the spring game again, it will make sense.
It really looks like an 8 year old kid designed it.
To 8 year old kids.

I thought I had somehow stumbled through internet time and happened upon an Angelfire page!
8 year old to redesign the Scout website
Just voted. He's up to 48% vs. 28% for the little shit from ND. There's actually no way on God's Green Earth that Kovacs is tops SS in D1, but he may just win b/c we're such an addicited fan base. Love it.
I bet Kovacs# hart is warm cuz a bunca morans voted for him.
I hope you were really drunk when you wrote this...
Well, Hart may mean that he thinks this will somehow warm RB Mike Hart.
He probably means the family of Erin Moran, aka "Joanie", from Happy Days, as the Morans in question . . . . Although drunk would explain the avatar.
Wait, it wouldn't . . .
At least it's better than his old avatar, and at least he hasn't threatened anyone with a bag of dicks (or whatever the "catchphrase" was) in a while.
After voting, I was wondering when the poll closes, but I didn't see it. Does anyone else know? I assume I stared right at it and didn't notice . . .
I just bought a Phil Steele polo!
I love Kovacs but I do find it comical that he is going to be voted the best SS in the nation and yet he may not even be our starter.
Thanks to your alert, JK is back to a 52.3% - 26.7% lead, with 1517 votes cast.
I love Kovacs and his attitude so I gave him a vote.

But Harrison Smith is definitely not athletically challenged.
Of course he is, he's white
Worst. Site. Design. EVER. I thought it was a pop-up the first time I opened it.
On the bright side, Grit has regained a solid 30-point lead. Michigan fans are the flash mob of the online community.
As long as we have the voting clicker fired up... #VoteAvila
one more vote, one more amazement at Phil's artistry.
well, there's a difference between meaningless online polls and all-star games where players actually get bonuses, etc. stuffing meaningless polls is for us to enjoy, whereas there's some actual effect on the real world with the all-star voting.
plus, fuck that, imma bitch if i want to. its my body. you cant tell me what to do.
We need a cartman voice hashtag like /cartmansvoice or something!
You're right. This is a grave injustice. Dear God WHAT HAVE WE DONE?!
is that the All-Star balloting has tangible consequences. Phil Steele's poll only comes with bragging rights (and even then, we're stretching the term "bragging rights" beyond any rational limits to include "anything that sounds better than getting kicked in the groin").
So do you actually think Kovacs is the best safety in football right now? Maybe I missed something.
Hey...maybe they'll be a poll for the best field goal kicker and we can win that one too!
But do you really think that Harrison Smith is the 2nd best safety in college football? Or that they should have >80% of the vote between the two of them?
It's a proxy battle between Michigan's internet nerds and Notre Dame's internet nerds. And we're winning. Don't overthink this one.
I'm thinking that Phil is going to understand, Mgrow.
Nothing against Kovacs, but it is a joke.
Hey if you guys want to vote Greg Robinson the best Defensive Coordinator in college football be my guest. I just think that jamming the ballot box to elect one of our own a winner in a category that anybody who has ever watched even one game of football would know is wrong makes us look like OSU fans at their worst.
We're better than that guys. Sorry if that upsets all of you but we are. This board has knowledgable, educated football fans who KNOW that Kovacs is not close to the best safety in football, maybe even not the best on our team. And voting him #1 makes all of us look silly in the rest of fandom's eyes.
If he wins I'll bet either Dr Saturday or EDSBS does a piece on it and it won't be flattering.
You think that if Kovacs wins an internet poll on PhilSteele.com, Dr. Sat or EDSBS are going to do a hard-hitting expose uncovering the nefarious exploits of the Michigan internet community?
They already have Leaders and Legends. When they stop laughing about that we need to start being careful.
I don't think any of us actually think that Kovacs is the best SS in the country but its fun to win things. It is absolutely inconsequential. What bothers me is when Yankee fans do this and vote in a guy like Russel Martin into the All-Star game, now that's downright sad.
You care way too much about what the internet thinks of you.
OK, you're right. I've cast my last vote. But I think you're taking it too seriously, Mgrow, it's just having some fun.
Maybe it is letting Phil know that we are still here even though Phil thinks we have dropped off the edge of the planet.
Your honor in defending the sanctity of an internet poll on phillsteele.com is admirable.
He was mad, and it was funny.
