Jordan Kovacs' lead for best SS is down to only 15%!!!

Submitted by Logan88 on

Okay, people, Jordan Kovacs' once vast lead for "Best SS in CFB" in the Phil Steele.com poll is down to only 15%!

Kovacs is sitting at ~45% of the vote while Harrison Smith of ND is at ~30%; apparently one of the Irish lurkers on our board decided to start "stuffing the box" (that's what she said!) for their guy.

It's a dog fight between two athletically challenged, gritty warriors and we cannot let those f*cking Domers win this battle. Get over to philsteele.com and vote!

Who is going to play FS in 2011?   Furman and Woolfolk are probably the only DBs with the speed to play FS.  Carvin looked good at times but he is a big hitter and was often looking for the knockout hits.  I really hope Mattison can finally defeat the powers that hate from above.

Just voted.  He's up to 48% vs. 28% for the little shit from ND.  There's actually no way on God's Green Earth that Kovacs is tops SS in D1, but he may just win b/c we're such an addicited fan base.  Love it.

After voting, I was wondering when the poll closes, but I didn't see it. Does anyone else know? I assume I stared right at it and didn't notice . . .

Worst. Site. Design. EVER.  I thought it was a pop-up the first time I opened it.

On the bright side, Grit has regained a solid 30-point lead. Michigan fans are the flash mob of the online community.

Not to be a donnie downer here but seriously guys...we're actually voting for Kovacs as the #1 safety in college football? Do you have any idea just how provincial and ridiculous that makes us look? I don't want anybody on this thread to EVER bitch about how silly All Star game voting is ever again. Cause we're about to commit one hell of a ballot box injustice just cause we can.

well, there's a difference between meaningless online polls and all-star games where players actually get bonuses, etc.  stuffing meaningless polls is for us to enjoy, whereas there's some actual effect on the real world with the all-star voting.

plus, fuck that, imma bitch if i want to.  its my body.  you cant tell me what to do.

is that the All-Star balloting has tangible consequences. Phil Steele's poll only comes with bragging rights (and even then, we're stretching the term "bragging rights" beyond any rational limits to include "anything that sounds better than getting kicked in the groin").

So do you actually think Kovacs is the best safety in football right now?  Maybe I missed something.

Hey...maybe they'll be a poll for the best field goal kicker and we can win that one too!

But do you really think that Harrison Smith is the 2nd best safety in college football?  Or that they should have >80% of the vote between the two of them?

It's a proxy battle between Michigan's internet nerds and Notre Dame's internet nerds.  And we're winning.  Don't overthink this one.

Hey if you guys want to vote Greg Robinson the best Defensive Coordinator in college football be my guest.   I just think that jamming the ballot box to elect one of our own a winner in a category that anybody  who has ever watched even one game of football would know is wrong makes us look like OSU fans at their worst.

We're better than that guys.  Sorry if that upsets all of you but we are.  This board has knowledgable, educated football fans who KNOW that Kovacs is not close to the best safety in football, maybe even not the best on our team.  And voting him #1 makes all of us look silly in the rest of fandom's eyes.

If he wins I'll bet either Dr Saturday or EDSBS does a piece on it and it won't be flattering.

I don't think any of us actually think that Kovacs is the best SS in the country but its fun to win things. It is absolutely inconsequential. What bothers me is when Yankee fans do this and vote in a guy like Russel Martin into the All-Star game, now that's downright sad.
