Jabrill and Taco Comparative Draft Grades
Here is a copmparative grading of the Jabrill and Taco picks from a variety of websites. They obviously show some variance, but are generally pretty damn good. But, of course, there is always one dumb Prick, er, Prisco, who doesn't know his ass from his elbow.

There are obviously other sites, but I think this shows that the consensus is that both the Browns and Cowboys got very good value out of their late first-round picks. As an FYI, none of the comments about Jabrill even mentioned the diluted sample as a factor; the major point of detraction was that he doesn't have a real position to play in the NFL.
Hate? No.
Find the outlier very interesting? Absolutely.
The outlier is (a) Prisco tends to be anti-Michigan and (b) he's kinda a flaming moron in general.
Would love to see all of these sports reporters run through the NFL combine. I would pay to see that. But, someone would have a heart attack and the event would get cancelled.

That F for Peppers is paired with nearly the same comment ("I don't like this pick at all. Where does he play?") as his C+ for Ryan Ramczyk to NO ("I don't get this pick. Where does he play?"). Arbitrary?
Then, in his "biggest remaining roster hole" article from 5 days ago, he says that the Lions need a big play, speedy linebacker... which seems to describe Jarrod Davis (in his description, he says as much) and that pick only gets a B-.
Its as if he used a random grade generator for his article. An arbitrary outlier for sure.
Nah. I'm just amazed they wasted a video selection bitching about it. It was basically some old guy saying nothing other than "awful, awful, awful" for half a minute and then, I assume, returning to whatever state allows him to tolerate what looks like a terrible sun burn. Also, Brady F'ing Quinn retorted with a really good take that this is the direction NFL teams are going, and guys like Peppers are what you need, not necessarily 240lb LBs who can't keep up in coverage.
Brady Quinn is turning out to be extremely good at his current job. I love his color commentary and he comes across as well-informed with none of the hot-take disease.
I had to assume he was making that claim specifically regarding the Browns, as he posted a top 100 ranking for prospects going into the draft and put Jabrill at #25, exactly where he was drafted.
No, he made that claim specifically as to Jabrill.
Prisco hasn't even done the bare minimum of research for years. That column probably took a grand total of 15 minutes to write. He must have been an excellent writer back in the day or something, because I can't think of another reason why a guy that lazy still has a job.
As a Cowboys fan I am ecstatic with the Taco pick! I believe he is going to be an immediate contributor to a defense in desperate need of pass rush help. Agree with a grade right around A- without a doubt!
I wish Peppers would have ended up somewhere other than Cleveland but that does seem to be a franchise making much better decisions the last few years and could be on the upswing. Plus he will be able to make an impact immediately.
Will Taco be an immediate starter in Dallas?
Not sure he will be a "starter" in title but he will be part of the rotiation. The Cowboys rotate defensive ends with regularity. Whether or not he starts over Meyowa, Lawrence or Irving, I don't know but he will get a ton, if not the most, snaps of any DE in the rotation. Obviously this is assuming he is productive in his early reps.
Fellow Cowboys fan here. We rotated so much due mostly to not having a DE that could fill that pass rusher role.
We finished with middling sack rates and mediocre pass d while having a top 10 rush D.
SDE was the weakest spot on that DL and we just (hopefully) upgraded our pass rush whilst maintaining the rush D capability. Taco could quite quickly become the lynch pin of that DL if/when he does this.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised at how many A and A- grades these selections received. Now go out there and makes us proud, guys.

The Browns are starting to amass a lot of young talent. If they can find a QB in the next couple years, they could have a really strong team, but that's a big "if".
Peppers on the Browns is not that bad if they decide to use him in kick returns. He will get LOTS of opportunities in that role - perhaps more than anywhere else in the NFL.
Punt returns? Not so much.
He's acting like Peppers played several different positions because the coaches were unhappy with his performance at those position.
No, MORON, Peppers played several different positions because his coaches asked him to, and he would do anything for the team.
At his absolute worst, Peppers will be one of the best return men in the game, which makes him an impact player.
That might be his stated reason, but his real reason is that he knows Peppers is a relatively famous player, about whom fans have strong opinions, so coming in with a hot take on him will get lots of attention. If he'd done this about, say, Jarrad Davis, the Lions' top pick, nobody would give a shit.
Any analyst who thinks they can grade the selection of a player on the day after the draft is full of shit. If it were that easy to tell how a player would do, then these analysts would be making millions advising NFL teams, and half the first-round picks wouldn't be complete busts.
He wants attention, and I'm sure he's getting more of it than if he had said "B+, moving on". I mean, I didn't know this sack of spoiled oranges existed until looking him up, so he got me.
I am hopeful that Peppers developes into the unbelievable play I know he can become.
I think 75% of college football fans don't understand how he sacrificed and moved to an unnatural LB position soley because it was batter for the team. He gave up his personal stats to do what was best for the team.
He paid a heafty price for it yesterday, as I think he may have been a top 10ish pick had he played DB his entire career.
The downside of going that late SHOULD HAVE BEEN that he went to good team. (ugh).
At least he will be on my local NFL broadcast every week. In addition to the Lions, I'm now official a Browns fan!

Beyond that, it is nice to see at least these two guys coming in as highly valued and valuable additions to their respective teams. It will be interesting to see how Wolverines in the later rounds do as well.
Peppers should have stayed in school. Better for his career than being drafted by the Browns. He's happy with the pick fwiw.
Interesting article the other day wondering if Peppers best position may be RB at the next level. I would have loved him with the Patriots because you know he would have gotten a look there and maybe 3-4 touches a game on offense.
For the "hopeful Browns" talk above - it's the Browns man. It's the Browns. One only hopes he survives to his second contract and he gets out of town.
Any idea why the Lions did not draft Peppers or Charlton, other than it's the Lions?
