I am sorry I missed the inside info, but, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED WITH BOB SHOOP?!
Again, I apologize if this was talked about, but deep in a comment thread that I missed, but can someone please explain what went on with Bob Shoop now that he is gone.
I feel like everyone has talked around it, and maybe for good reason, but a little info would be nice.
(... and start sarcastic comments, but I can't be the only one, right? ... right?... just me?)

I really do think this is an acceptable answer if it was a family matter, but I don't know if that has even ever been stated.

10 years ago a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team.
January 21st, 2021 at 12:43 PM ^
I like how they PROMPTLY escaped--didn't waste any time. "...and if you find them..." Seems like they were easy to find--they were found once an episode.
January 21st, 2021 at 12:45 PM ^
Also, for decorated soldiers of fortune, they couldn't shoot those M-16's for shit! Watch out bad guys, or all the dirt around your feet is gonna get it!
January 21st, 2021 at 12:58 PM ^
I think I was a couple of years too old for the A Team. By the time it came out I was done with shows and movies with giant explosions where no one got hurt. I wanted to see death and dismemberment.

They trained at the Imperial Storm Trooper Shoot Range.
January 21st, 2021 at 2:08 PM ^
From what I heard, they trained with some big-talking former Imperial Stormtrooper...that's why you always check references.
January 21st, 2021 at 2:39 PM ^
They mostly used the Ruger Mini 14 which is notorious for having just about the worst accuracy in a rifle of all time, but hey it looks cool. The first season they did use the M16 mostly and still couldn't hit anything.

Must be why we got bogged down in Nam.

I can't speak for the football season but during the summer I saw him skydiving up by Wolcott Mills

I must say that is an excellent gif

Are you sure that wasn't John Cena?
January 21st, 2021 at 4:14 PM ^
Fun fact: John Cena and his wrestler lady friend ate lunch at the table next to me at our hotel before M played FSU in the Orange Bowl. Then I got in the elevator with a handful of the Detroit Pistons. Then that bowl game...

"and if you can find them". Hell, they're the only ones driving the freeways of LA in a black van with a huge red racing stripe and highly jacked up back wheels. They seem to pretty much spend all of their time in LA, driving around in the day. Plus one of their own members is constantly in and of veterans hospitals with mental health issues, so he's obviously easy as hell to track.

NO ONE KNOWS!!
January 21st, 2021 at 3:54 PM ^
I must say in this day of spewing random thoughts / snitching people out online it is refreshing that an organization can actually keep a secret / protect someone's privacy.
It is truly rare now and one of the things I appreciate about JH / Michigan.

Here's what I heard: Shob Boop
January 21st, 2021 at 12:04 PM ^
Maybe he or a family member had comorbidities and wasn't comfortable working in person? It's happening in every industry but has to be really tough to manage in football.
January 21st, 2021 at 12:18 PM ^
This is clearly it.
January 21st, 2021 at 1:24 PM ^
It wouldn't say this is clearly it, but I would put it on a short list of likely reasons.
January 21st, 2021 at 12:05 PM ^
Is this going to be another Xavier Worthy lack of transparency, we deserve the truth, no more lies thread?
January 21st, 2021 at 12:06 PM ^
I don't think so. Worthy hasn't even had enough time to effect the team.... Shoop happened last year, and is now gone.
January 21st, 2021 at 12:18 PM ^
It would seem their effects are about equal then.
January 21st, 2021 at 12:27 PM ^
You can't handle the truth
January 21st, 2021 at 12:57 PM ^
We couldn't handle the Shoop
January 21st, 2021 at 12:05 PM ^
You missed nothing. It was never discussed why he was off the field. It won't be discussed why he was off the field.
January 21st, 2021 at 12:06 PM ^
Do you know why it won't be discussed?

The 1st rule about safeties coaches is.....
January 21st, 2021 at 12:11 PM ^
Because it's none of our beeswax.
January 21st, 2021 at 12:15 PM ^
When a coach is hired, doesn't do the duties he is hired to do, at a public university, and no one talks about it... none of our beeswax isn't the proper answer.
January 21st, 2021 at 12:17 PM ^
I'm sure his boss knows, but since you aren't his boss you don't need to know.
January 21st, 2021 at 2:00 PM ^
So are we allowed to ask any questions about anything then? I’m just continuing down your logic...
We all agree there are some things we don’t need exact details on, but when you say no comment and don’t want to talk about something that millions of people watch, you might want a different profession.
January 21st, 2021 at 2:07 PM ^
Okay.
"He was working through something."
January 21st, 2021 at 12:20 PM ^
Have to bet it was an accommodation remote work situation, and those put HR in a tough spot because you can't publicly say why.
January 21st, 2021 at 12:05 PM ^
He was the unlucky one who had to teach summer school and his zipper got stuck in the bathroom stall. Then, subsequently missed the entire season.

He got in a fist fight with a Popeyes employee at 2am the week after he was hired.
January 21st, 2021 at 12:06 PM ^
Shoop there it is......thought you knew!
I'll see myself out.
January 21st, 2021 at 12:08 PM ^
Someone implied that he had philosophical differences with Don Brown. I'm not sure if that makes sense though, because why would you hire the guy to begin with?
I know this doesn't answer your question exactly, but it's the only thing I've heard.
January 21st, 2021 at 12:12 PM ^
Well it seems like Shoop was right then, and should have been kept around.
If this is the reason, I don't know why anyone isn't talking about it now. Not saying he should have been kept, due to the fact you can't always tell your boss their a dumbass even when you are right, but he shouldn't be blackballed like this.
January 21st, 2021 at 12:13 PM ^
This would be a surprise if true. Shoop and Brown have been coaching together on and off for over 30 years since their days at Yale (Shoop as a player/GA, Brown as a coach). Shoop has called Coach Brown a mentor.
Having said that I have no idea what happened.
January 21st, 2021 at 12:59 PM ^
I had no idea about the previous relationship between Brown and Shoop, so it probably makes my comment unlikely. It was mentioned on a board post at one point, but I guess I shouldn't have regurgitated it without evidence. Thanks for your insight.
January 21st, 2021 at 12:17 PM ^
Not true at all.
January 21st, 2021 at 12:42 PM ^
I’m not sure. Normally these type of get paid but don’t come to work situations are centered around “health issues” like sticking your wiener someplace you shouldn’t have
January 21st, 2021 at 12:49 PM ^
Like in a toaster? I feel like that would qualify as a pretty significant health issue.
