Here is the full list of Michigan athletes on Cameo:
Dickinson and Naz Hillmon were the only current athletes I saw, but there were several recent athletes like Isaiah Livers, Franz and Mo Wagner, and Chris Evans.
DeVante Jones also
Would it be cool if I asked him to send me a birthday message telling me about how he's been working on his right hand post moves?
I'm going to pay him to say that I didn't pay him and that he just got inspired by some of my social media posts and was moved to try to get in touch.
Not sure about the whole Cameo thing. I guess it's pretty cool for athletes, especially college ones, who are pretty in tune with social media and having fun with it.
But I think it's kind of sad/awkward for a lot of washed up actors and comedians who I think really need the money.
It is really dependent on the individual "talent." There are some actors and celebrities who really try to make it personal and take pride in delivering a quality product. For them, it's a great way to connect with their fanbase while making a quick buck. That can be true even for actors and comedians who no longer are getting jobs, as it can be a way to monetize nostalgia without resorting to reality TV or crappy movies.
For others, it's just as sad/awkward as one might imagine. There are some really bad reviews out there, including one I saw where a customer was wondering if the talent was "OK."
The lesson: It's a cool idea if used correctly, and a really bad, awkward idea if you're expecting a depressed has-been to magically transform back into their former self.
So it's like most ideas and work in the world: good if done correctly, otherwise not?
Word up?!?!
Thats the code word.
When you hear the call you've got to get it underway.
Suddenly I am craving a Cherry Coke....
Im going to have him wish the Michigan (NIL) Money Cannon a happy birthday. Its exactly zero years old today!
We have a bar game we play.
- Go on Cameo
- Pick some star or former athlete everyone knows
- Have people try and guess how much they charge
You'll go down the rabbit hole super quickly.
Also, you can watch some of the most recent videos people record. It's funny to see the people who are half assing it with 30 second videos, and who's putting in crazy effort.
Some of my favorites: Mick Foley, Johnny Damon, and Jerry the King Lawler. You get your moneys worth with those guys.
WORD UP!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll do the math. $50 per evening to sing me a lullaby before bedtime is a bit over $18K per year. That's a bargain. And not creepy at all.
I'll sing you a lullaby for $25. (As long as you've got clothes on.)
I'm wondering how long until this really gets creepy. I can see some 90 year old alum with a few dollars in his pocket paying to have the field hockey team practice on his front lawn and endorse his lawn service.
Or a 30 year old alum doing the same. Is the creepy-ness the age or the action?
I figure there aren't many (if any) 90 year old people on this board, so by using that as an example I wasn't forcing anyone to look in the mirror.....
Some people on there charging $800+!?!? How? Why?
I can't wait for the NIL update to Super Action Football on ColecoVision.
I was more of a Slamdunk Super Pro Basketball fan. My all time lineup was Steve Cousey, Lurch Butlers and Flagpole Davis as my starting three with Spud Babcock and Jimmie Jammer coming off the bench.
I'd like to hear a deep cut, something before "Word Up" to confirm Hunter's no poser.
