Harbaugh endorses Evil
aka Rosenberg
"Must read 4 all Coaches n @Coach_Rocha War As They Knew it: Woody Hayes, Bo Schembechler, and America in a time of Unrest Michael Rosenberg"
from his Twitter.

So would Richard Sherman (allegedly).
January 23rd, 2015 at 3:05 PM ^
I would also guess that Sherman learned more than a few trash-talking tips from his college coach.

And Doug Baldwin..
And The Schwartz...

likes to keep his enemies close.

Although nobody wants to acknowledge this, it's actually a good book.
January 23rd, 2015 at 1:43 PM ^
Yep, it is.
But don't tell the 300 people who commented on Amazon without ever actually reading the book they were reviewing.
January 23rd, 2015 at 3:07 PM ^
Yeah, but look at the dates on many of those reviews and compare to the timing of Stretchgate and you can very easily see what is going on there. A large portion of those reviews are written as reprisal for the story that Rosenberg ran in the late summer of 2009.
As an aside, look up the reviews for "How To Avoid Huge Ships" - not one of those people likely read that book, and perhaps no one ever has because it looks boring as hell, but the reviews are actually hilarious in that instance.
January 23rd, 2015 at 4:38 PM ^
I love it when people troll the reviews on Amazon. Didn't know George Takei received so much unwanted attention at Walmart.
January 23rd, 2015 at 7:43 PM ^
I live near a park and frequently walk around the local area. Given the amount of dog mess that is on the pavements I thought this book would be the ideal read to stop me having to scrape my shoes on the grass before going home. It was only after it arrived that I looked closely at the title and realised it said 'How to Avoid Huge SHIPS'. A simple error that means I am still treading on massive examples of canine excrement. Having said that, I read the book anyway, and I'm pleased to say I'm not even having near misses with huge ships anymore. No sir, they aint getting anywhere near me!
Thank you for the recommendation!

he may have slightly contributed to clearing the path for Harbaugh.

We both thought it was just OK. Sure the writing was good, but the subject didn't go deep enough. It was easy to put it down.
I actually knew Mike R as an undergrad fairly well (I was tight with the Daily folks). Neg me all you want, he is a good guy. I was shocked when he wrote that Michigan slam-piece 5 years ago. Totally out of character for him. With that said, he got what he deserved. I can't blame people for being pissed at him. And I still can't help but crack up over some of those reviews of his book. "Mesner's Relief" is my favorite.

Still don't like Rosenberg, but the book offers a very unique perspective on the ten year war.
January 23rd, 2015 at 4:11 PM ^
it's probably the best Michigan football book on the market.

And, conversely, you can like someone as a person and acknowledge that in many areas their performance is lacking. I think the key is "courtesy".
January 23rd, 2015 at 2:38 PM ^
Thank you for pointing this out to the too many who are not mature or wise enough to recognize or admit this.
The book was a good read.

And gives too much weight..."bafoonery" seems more apt.
January 23rd, 2015 at 1:50 PM ^
Evil is closer to accurate than buffoonery. Buffoonery implies harmlessness which was hardly the outcome of his journalistic malpractice. Moreover, I ascribe selfish motives to his hit job. So, yeah, I prefer evil.
January 23rd, 2015 at 1:57 PM ^
Fair enough, but even the intents and consequences of stretch-gate weren't "Evil" to my mind. They aren't totally harmless and certainly not inconsequential, but are not "Evil."
We're likely playing semantics where we both agree there are tremendously higher levels of Evil, and you're allowing this to be on its lowest spectrum, while I'm saying it doesn't even register.

Good journalists aren't as power hungry as you like to believe, and he is a good one. If you think the affect of his investigative reporting had anything significant to do with the humiliating state of Michigan football the past decade, then you're very naive.
