I like the new Gfycat integration but wonder if it might be possible to not have the gifs playing automatically. It's super distracting to try to read when they are autoplaying and so close together.
I found myself going through and pausing them all until I was ready to watch so I could read the paragraphs ahead. Maybe it's just me, though.
Having trouble deciding which 2 players to sit in my 2RB/2WR/FLEX league:
RB Jeremy Hill CIN, vs SD (12)
RB Carlos Hyde SF, vs PIT (11)
RB Tre Mason (Quest.) STL, vs. WSH (9)
WR Antonio Brown PIT, vs. SF (14)
WR AJ Green CIN, vs. SD (10)
WR Terrance Williams DAL, vs. PHI (9)
WR Brandin Cooks NO, vs TB (9)
Right now, I have Mason sitting because he's not healthy, and might not play. I currently have Terrance Williams in the lineup because he should fill a big Dez Bryant hole for the Cowboys, but I could easily see Cooks and Brees going ham on the TB secondary.
As DPS student security stationed on the field in front of the student section that game, I can confirm that there was (thankfully) no rushing the field that game.
I was grateful because the only thing I was allowed to do if someone did rush the field was try to get in front of them and use my legs (not kicking), but could not use my arms.
The only change I can find that goes the other direction since 2000 is Phoenix>Arizona Coyotes, and i don't see any team since the Minnesota Wild in 2000 that began with a state name.
It's so sad when a dad has to come on here to vouch for his son. The coaches have all gone to see these athletes play, and know WAY more than any of us could know (save for their family and classmates).
Especially when the majority of fans have been "wrong" initially about athletes like Trey Burke and Jake Ryan, you'd think they'd get over initial negative reactions being post-worthy.
Why is it worthwhile to talk poorly about a 16-year old young man who you've never even seen play, while hiding behind anonymous usernames and so much less basketball skill than he has?
That redundancy, combined with Davis being an unranked, mostly unknown prospect, resulted in some shouting on social media and on message boards. A segment of fans called Beilein's recruiting practices into question. Others called the 16-year-old recruit a "stiff." Some wrote Davis off immediately. It wasn't everywhere, but it was out there, and like all negativity, it overshadowed plenty of positivity.
If anyone thought their voices didn't travel, they're wrong. They did -- straight down U.S. 12, into the village of Onsted, and right into the Davis' living room.
Eric Davis grimaces, forcing a diplomatic grin, and says, "I know my kid, I know what he's capable of and I know how hard he's going to work. At the end of the day, that's all that matters. The people who only see rankings, they don't see this stuff. They don't see Austin out here at 6:30 a.m."
"It wasn't something that I was really expecting," Austin Davis says through a nervous chuckle. "I guess it comes with the territory, but I try not to worry about it. You don't get much of that around here."
John Mulaney is my favorite comedy writer--his stuff on SNL was genious (see Stefan), and his stand-up is also great (see New in Town on Netflix).
Pete Holmes has a terrific podcast, but I don't like his stand-up all that much.
Rory Scoval is newer to the scene, but has tons of talent and is incredibly funny.
The cast of Silicon Valley is pretty much everyone I find hilarious--Kumail Nanjiani, Thomas Middleditch, TJ Miller. If you haven't seen the first season finale, you need to. Never laughed so much.
Saw all these guys in Denver in the past year--good place for comedy!
I work from home as a PA to clients around the world, helping them with anything they can do online, in the phone. Ex. scheduling, booking travel, email triage and organization, basic accounting, written content creation and editing, paying bills. All kinds of stuff.
1. Own a virtual personal assistant company 2. 2007 Mercury Milan 3. My job is to make my clients look good, no matter what (almost), so in that way yes, but otherwise no.
Former bag checker here: put all baby items in a clear plastic container or ziplock bag to make it easier and quicker to check. Bottles are no problem.
While I agree the rich parts of the city are white and yuppy, I was mostly referring to racial diversity and how segregated the city is. This leads to interesting "diverse" (non-white) pockets of the city where you can find some great authentic Mexican cuisine/culture, etc.
Oh yeah, and you won't believe how much 300 days of sunshine makes a difference. Also 70s the past week (60s aren't abnormal in winter sometimes) were amazing.
I've been out here for a year and a half (University of Denver area, 15 minutes SE of downtown) since getting out of school in AA, so hopefully I can help!
- very feasible, especially if you leave early from Denver (before 7am) and leave earlier from the mountain. Traffic can get really bad due to construction in a new tunnel on 70. The further you go, the harder it is to get back. Also everyone here has a Subaru or SUV.
- Denver Tech Center will have a ton of jobs like that, I'm sure. 20 minutes SE of downtown. Also on the light rail line. Really easy to get around the whole metro area with public transit.
- the most friendly. Contrary to popular belief, Denver is actually really flat and driveable. There are SO MANY BIKERS, both commuting and sport.
- Similar vibe to AA (especially Boulder), but with a lot more diversity. Pretty segregated, but lots of culture. Everyone has a dog they got at a shelter. Everyone is fit. Western suburbs are great, but much more expensive, generally! Red Rocks is unreal.
"David is a better athlete than your average kicker. He is in a battle for the starting QB job this year with a senior and uber '17 recruit Danny Clark.
He's been Massillon's starting SS and hit in the top third of the order since day 1 as a freshman. One of the top '15 baseball players in OH. He is definitely a D1 baseball player. Hopefully he can play both at Michigan."
In this video, he says he will also play baseball at Michigan. Pretty neat.
The coach is recommending a book by Rosenberg, not his reporting. If you've read the book and think it is awful, I can respect that, but if you haven't read the book (as I haven't) and believe the reviews are indicative of the quality of the book, I don't respect that.
I did read it, as well as the response from CBS. Every journalist writes bad articles sometimes, and I would be surprised if he doesn't regret the article after the fact. But the group-think here on the blog about him is obnoxious. I don't think he is a terrific writer, but few are, and few others who don't cover M get crucified on this blog like he does.
Rosenberg is a fine writer and doesn't cover Michigan sports anymore. This got really old a long time ago.
Good journalists aren't as power hungry as you like to believe, and he is a good one. If you think the affect of his investigative reporting had anything significant to do with the humiliating state of Michigan football the past decade, then you're very naive.
I'm actually planning on adding the FXFL players (Roh and Mealer), but they having been updating statistics very well up until now. I haven't seen Gallon show up on any of the box scores yet either.
McGuffie is the only former Wolverine I have seen in the CFL, but last I checked he hadn't played yet this year.
"It's hard to play effectively when you're continuously getting hit," Gardner said. "But that's the situation we're in. And my guys are trying as hard as they can, so I can't ask for anything else. I've just got to find a way, which I'm trying to do each week, so the stats aren't going to be there sometimes. It's just finding ways to win, that's it."
I was wondering about how much risk is really involved in Hail Mary passes like that. It's amazing to me that in a sports world so full of statistics that numbers like this aren't sticking way the hell out at coaches.
I don't have the points yet to make my own post, so I figured I'd post this here. I've been curious about how former Wolverines are faring each week in the NFL, so here is the first iteration of my weekly update:

Jake Long (2007) | St. Louis Rams, Starting T (MNF vs. San Francisco)
- Playing on Monday night.
- Has been a starter since he entered the league 7 years ago.
Mario Manningham (2007) | New York Giants, Backup WR (L 0-27 vs. Philadelphia)

I use Libsyn to publish, which is good for a large audience and broadcasting to lots of different stores, like iTunes.
I would encourage you not to consider doing video podcasts, because no one watches them and they aren't worth the time.

Current teams changing names:
Florida>Miami Marlins
California>LA>Anaheim>LA Angels of Anaheim
New teams (since 2001)
Memphis Grizzlies
New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans
Oklahoma City Thunder
Winnipeg Jets (not so new)
Washington Nationals
Houston Texans
The only change I can find that goes the other direction since 2000 is Phoenix>Arizona Coyotes, and i don't see any team since the Minnesota Wild in 2000 that began with a state name.
Maybe not a "trend," per se, but it's something.

The WR split seems, well, unbalanced.

Kristin Schaal (she does some stand-up)
Bill Murray
Sascha Baron Cohen
Steve Carell
Beck Bennett/Kyle Mooney
