Grant Newsome @grant_newsome

Can someone update me on my medical status. I heard medical and reporter guru @Jamestyoder had the breaking scoop but he blocked me so I can’t see it. Was hoping to find out how my recovery is going and maybe also the next powerball numbers. Thanks in advance James!

Also, here's an article from Isaiah Hole on what Jim Harbaugh said about Newsome's progress/status.

GIST: It's too early to determine. We'll know more soon.

And labeling his guesses "breaking news". He's frequently accused by writers who cover Michigan of copying their work and passing it off as his own. Those are his sources. Now that his former employee Ace Williams is gone, Yoder is the absolute worst in the business and it's not close.

Here's a short article where he admits uses fake writers like Ace Williams. He claims they were college students, but Ace was 14 years old when he started. They have a history of claiming their imaginations as inside sources.

Newsome seems like a good guy, but he gets triggered way too easy way to much. Less talk more action.

More action from Newsome?

That's quite possible the most mean spirited and misplaced criticism I've ever seen on this site. Your target is someone who according to every report, has done everything he possibly can to get back on the field, despite facing a very difficult and uncertain path.

Words fail me in stating how despicable you are.

Was not intended to be mean spirited. Grant is acting like the guy is wrong... if so, prove it by playing not sending childish smug tweets. If you can’t play, that sucks, but don’t call out someone else’s credibility if they are in fact right. That’s all I was saying and oh yeah, stop being so damn sensitive... not just him... a lot of people are so sensitive. Our society is so sissified it’s sickening. Ball up, Learn to cope. I’ve been through some awful shitty things in my life and I am not offended by anything. I don’t care. Get a backbone damn.

"if so, prove it by playing not sending childish smug tweets. If you can’t play, that sucks, but don’t call out someone else’s credibility if they are in fact right"

This isn't a binary situation.  It's probably too early to say whether he can play.

Yeah that’s why if I was him I just wouldn’t say anything because nothing would be better than to be out there playing and just let that journalist eat his words. Perhaps I was a bit harsh, but I just try to be real with how I feel. If how I feel is wrong I’m ok with that I’m not perfect. I also have no idea who the journalist was, so if he has a bad reputation I can understand everyones backlash towards him on here, but if I’m Grant, I still ignore it. To those of you who were offended by my comments I apologize, I did not mean anything to be offensive. My point again is I just don’t let what other people say or think about me cause me to be upset and definitely not to respond publicly. As I’ve said before I’ve been through some shitty things and have been ridiculed for unfair reasons. I’ve been judged because who my dad is, the color of my skin, my lack of academic excellence and poor choices I’ve made, but I just prove the haters wrong. That’s all you can do. Again, sorry, and I was not trying to be mean, it’s just the way I feel.

Upvoted you for taking the time to both listen and then explain where you are coming from.

I can very much respect the prove haters wrong through actions mindset.   I also agree that there are some people who spend to much time whining and not enough time doing.

I just really struggle to see how Grant Newsome fits in that category.   From all I have heard he is incredibly hardworking in his rehab, has been a tremendous team mate and frankly generally seems to let his actions speak for him.

The few times I’ve seen him tweet about or otherwise talk about it have either been to express thanks to those who have supported him or to use humor to gently rebuke people who try to share “news” about his condition, when that news is his to share, not theirs.

To me he is a model to emulate on how to handle a difficult situation with grace, humor and humility, not an example of the “sissification of America”

"Yeah that’s why if I was him..."

Based on your posting history, I believe I speak for most of the board when I say, thank goodness you are not Grant Newsome.

"Perhaps I was a bit harsh, but I just try to be real with how I feel. "

It takes more strength and courage to act with class and dignity when those around you do not. I've often found those who are "just keeping it real" use that as a sissy response when they are called out on their BS.

So, just guessing about someone is ok and the accused has to prove? Bad logic. This means anyone can say anything about another person and it is the truth until proven otherwise. Stupid logic and you are defending a douchebag.

Newsome has done all that he can to attempt to get back to the field despite great uncertainty that it will ultimately happen and you're going to throw this out there as an example of the so-called sissification of America? Shame on you.

Yoder is a dick who has repeatedly conflated misinformation and rumor as breaking news and impugned respected journalists and bloggers in the Michigan community when confronted with his misdeed and loose ethics and you're saying "prove him wrong"? Shame on you.

You say you didn't intend to be mean spirited, then double down on the same mean spirited personal attacks. Thank for confirming that you didn't just make a thoughtless comment. I thought I might have overreacted a bit, but you truly are awful.

Yoder has no credibility, a well established fact. Newsome wasn't mad about him saying he couldn't play again, if in fact he did. He was mad about him claiming to have inside information about his medical condition, which he clearly does not. He was mad about a fake journalist (who's blocked him on Twitter) using his name to get attention.

You telling Newsome to get a backbone is beyond ridiculous. You clearly have little idea of what's going on but feel entitled to make harsh criticisms. Rather than look in the mirror and admit you might be wrong, you lash out and broaden your attacks. That's just weak.

People who use the term "sissified" unironically should be permanently. Why is it people like you whine so much about PC culture yet can't handle other people's opinions? You're the one on here complaining about the tweets of a young young adult.

And why do you feel it necessary to type about how tough you think you are? Nobody cares.

Grant does not need to "prove it by playing not sending childish smug tweets."  He seems to be pointing out that some reporter is pretending to know things about his own medical condition that we can infer may not be true based on Grant's response, or at the very least that Grant knows an awful lot more about.

Imagine that you've spent two years trying to recover from a devastating injury only to have people to whom you've never spoken claim to have insider knowledge about your medical condition.

And even if the information is accurate, what gives him the right to report on a college player's injury status? The so-called reporter is the one at fault here, not Grant.

Upset because someone makes an uninformed and inaccurate claim about a very serious and personal medical issue=Triggered? Christ man, get a fucking grip. Newsome has been the standard of excellence for student athletes in how he handles things outside of athletics. Incredibly smart, hard working, determined, great leader, and an incredible human being. If everyone in the world had half the character and work ethic of Grant Newsome, the world would be a much better place. Whether he ever gets cleared to get back on the field or not, Grant Newsome's impact is wide ranging and amazing for the program.
