Denard's stat line for ND predictions

Submitted by MikeCohodes on

In 2010 Denard threw for 244 yards and 1 TD and rushed for 258 and 2 TDs.

In 2011 he threw for 338 yards and 4 TDs and rushed for 108 and 1 TD.

Like Michael Jordan playing the Knicks, something about Notre Dame brings out the best in Shoelace.  He clearly is the Irish's Kryptonite.

He now is in his 3rd year of starting and 2nd year in Borges' offense.  However, ND's defense appears to be better this year than in the past two years as well.  So, how will he do?

I think he's improved as a passer to the point that he will surpass 2011's throwing totals, racking up 350 in the air and 5 TDs passing (and he's going to have a far better completion percentage than last year's game), and I think he's going to bust at least one long run allowing him to break 125 on the ground and pick up another rushing TD.

Am I crazy? Over exuberant? Or is this going to be Denard's best game yet in a career of wow moments and it will put him back into the Heisman conversation?

Oh and it was also mentioned on the board it's his birthday Saturday.  Not sure if that will have an effect on his performance or not, but maybe it'll help the team to perform so they can give him a birthday win.

EDIT: I forgot to mention this is my first forum topic that I've started so also I'd appreciate any suggestions for improving these in the future or any feedback to improve my writing as well, thanks!

I can't bring my self to bet ND minus the 5.5 but I don't think it looks good for us...

I figure denard goes 20 carries for 120 with 2 tds  but only throws for  180-190 without a passing td.

Amigos, if Denard managed 200passing  and 1TD against Bama he can manage more than that against the likely weakest secondary he'll face all year. He managed 200passing of 417total and 2TDs against Air Force, and 291passing of 585 and 3TDs against UMass. He could very well outdo his UMass numbers against a defense that's going to sell out against the run and force him to beat them with his arm.

I agree with that and remain optimistic for the game as a result.  No doubt in my mind, Denard has improved as a passer from the last several seasons.  Add that to the fact the AB has a desire to throw the ball when things get tight (see MSU game from last year) and mismatch nightmares Funchess/DG and you've got a recipe for success.

48 yards rushing?  rly?

Teo will have his hands full controlling Funchess so take him out of the picture.

280 yards passing

94 yards rushing

Denard gets sacked 3 times.

ND 27

Not to be "that guy" but it was against Air Force that Denard accounted for 101% of Michigan's "team" offensive production.  Against UMass Toussaint got something like 85 yards.  Not impressive, but okay.

Anyway, for ND...  I'll guess:

Rushing:

19 attemps for 122 yards - 1 TD

Passing:

18 / 29 for 271 yards - 3 TD - 1 INT

Final:  38 - 34 (W - Michigan)  Denard accounts for 4 of 5 Michigan touchdowns, and 90-95% of yardage, but mostly through the air.

Both of those previous games required Denard to garner huge chunks of yards in the 4th quarter.  Here's to hoping he has pedestrian numbers (lets say 230 yards passing, 75 yards rushing) and can hand it off to Fitz in the 4th with the game under control.

18-27 240 yards 2 TD's 1 Int

14 carries for 155 yards and a TD

We win 31-28

On another note does anyone remember the name of that roided up guy who had his own blog and made videos talking trash about how great ND was?

It's fun to see how the other teams live from time to time. He has a hard-on for Mgoblog and usually singles out something one of us says as the "d-bag of the week" or whatever he calls it. I honestly was never fiiled with much hatred for ND until that guy came around so I suppose I should thank him. His predictions and subsequent tears really make my day. I do miss his youtube videos though. Especially with all the scratching of his "alleged" steroid induced bacne.

Im not feeling to hot on this and it's suppose to be really cold night for week 4. I'll play though. 13-27 194 2 td 1int. 17 rush for 121. Michigan playing hard til the end but ND trenches prevail 24-20.
