LOL!!! The only power 5 school with a worse offense than MSU was rutgers. And they’re keeping their entire offensive staff!!
LOL! MSU will never against contend in the conference. They are finished. Point and laugh, Dantonio is a joke.

Number one, bro cool in with exclamations, it’s weird. Number 2; Staten is gonna crush it, and Warner knows how to coach a qb just except when he’s also in charge of calling plays. Number 3 and most importantly Mark and the gang is back, baby.

How can someone with the last name of Couch feel safe covering MSU athletics.

This is the content that I like.

Someone should edit the OP to summarize the press conference.

Also saw this factoid: Dantonio has had 4 OCs as a head coach. 3(!!) are currently on his staff. The one he had at Cincinnati and his first few years at MSU coached DBs last year.
Talk about a guy who really really does not like change.

-Just a deck shuffle :
Brad Salem will move from QBs coach to offensive coordinator and RBs coach.
Dave Warner will become QBs coach. -
Mark Staten moves from O-line coach to TEs and special teams.
Jim Bollman becomes O-line coach.
Move along folks
January 10th, 2019 at 6:07 PM ^
Does this move them to the top 5 of next year’s preseason rankings?
January 10th, 2019 at 6:09 PM ^
In the B1G East? Yes.
January 10th, 2019 at 6:11 PM ^
I know you were kidding, but . . . this doesn't even move them into the top 5 of the Big Ten.
January 10th, 2019 at 6:06 PM ^
Sounds like he's taking the Lloyd Carr approach and just shuffling staff
January 10th, 2019 at 6:10 PM ^
I just might log into the ticket tomorrow and listen to the meltdown on Valenti's show.
January 10th, 2019 at 6:57 PM ^
You missed it. This leaked and the meltdown happened today
January 10th, 2019 at 8:04 PM ^
Might have to pull up the podcast for that one. He’s been talking for months about Mork cratering the program by hanging onto his buddies forever.
January 11th, 2019 at 1:05 AM ^
He goes back at least 2 years calling for Warner’s head. I think every "move" that doesn’t involve firing Warner only makes him more bitter. But he’s right though. Terrible decisions have been made. I told some MSU friends to enjoy the end of their golden era back in 2015. Here’s Valente’s take on it yesterday. https://omny.fm/shows/the-valenti-show/reacting-to-mark-dantonios-staff-changes-at-msu

The men of Charlie Company had been in the field for two weeks wearing the same gear when the Sargent announces:
"I've got good news and bad news.
First the good news.
Today we are going to get to change our underwear."
The troops start cheering wildly.
"Now the bad news," continues the Sarge.
"Smith, you change with Jones. Andrews, you change with Murphy..."

When you score one touchdown in a month, including versus Rutgers, you have to bring everyone back.
January 10th, 2019 at 6:21 PM ^
I'm shocked he's not doing more to retool their offensive staff after last year's dumpster fire. We like to complain about our offense, but state was historically bad. With just a bad offense that defense would have gotten them to 9 or 10 wins.
January 10th, 2019 at 6:21 PM ^
Instead of making needed wholesale changes, he just shuffled the deck on the Offensive side, sticking with the same "good ol Mork boys". His best line in the press conference: "You want to hire people who you want to spend all day riding around in a van with."
He is very stupid, highly stubborn, and quite loyal. Kind of like the mutt I adopted from the local shelter.
Heading over to the RCMB - they are going to be THRILLED with no new blood and keeping Warner on staff!
January 10th, 2019 at 7:48 PM ^
Not only that, but their one good offensive coach (the guy who coaches the WRs) got moved to defense (DBs). Mork is torpedoing State and it’s great to see.
January 10th, 2019 at 7:50 PM ^
It's more like: "I have to hire people that can stand riding around all day in a van with me."

Courtesy of Eric Upchurch:
"Whooaaaa! He has trouble with the staff!"
January 10th, 2019 at 6:35 PM ^
Mork spent a lot of time blaming their offensive struggles on the players. He brought it up multiple times. I can't remember hearing a college coach throwing his players under the bus as often as he has in the press conference. What a doucher.

Have ya met Tom Izzo, the Angry Elf?
January 11th, 2019 at 12:10 AM ^
“Listen, I’m not going to stand up here at this podium and make excuses but the refs called too many fouls on us [ignores the fact that his goons literally practice in football pads] and my players sucked. There’s only so much more I can do, I already scream constantly at everyone”.
Sincerely,
Every single izzo press conf following a loss.

They have a lot of strange guys.
January 10th, 2019 at 7:16 PM ^
Good Grief! He called a presser just to announce a shuffling of an already underwhelming staff? Were there boos from the three media attendees who bothered to show up for this farce?
January 10th, 2019 at 7:28 PM ^
Dantonio is just trying to stay relevant he's being bypassed my other coaches and programs in the Big Ten
January 10th, 2019 at 7:49 PM ^
If Locksley is worth anything, he might be able to get Maryland to lock down State’s “3rd/4th best in the East” spot.
January 11th, 2019 at 9:45 AM ^
There is much truth to this statement..
January 10th, 2019 at 7:20 PM ^
He called a press conference for this? Lame.
January 10th, 2019 at 7:38 PM ^
Moving around turds just makes a bigger pile of shit. Love the moves Mork.

Can they schedule the Citadel 3 times each season? 7-6 sounds very optimistic to me...luckily they will likely only have to play 12 games a year.
January 10th, 2019 at 9:37 PM ^
Their d will keep them in alot of games.
January 10th, 2019 at 10:22 PM ^
Sounds like Dantonio thinks his assistants are good coaches, and they probably are... they are not in a place to realize the same recruiting gains they achieved in our down years, so they can only work with what they have. They still managed to land a 5 star OT in state this year though didn't they?
January 10th, 2019 at 10:23 PM ^
He calls a press conference to confirm to Sparty fans aside from shuffling the deck, next year will be the same. Go Green Go White! Lol
