Damn. Hopefully DDJ reconsiders
Whatever the reason is for DDJ to enter the transfer portal I suspect it’s unrelated to Aiken. Seems more likely good news about Christopher. Regardless, it is confusing why he would leave and it would be nice if he reconsidered.
Maybe he was told Eli and Josh are the starting guards. It still seems like he was slotted for starter type minutes on a team that should contend for a Big Ten Championship and NCAA run.
Why walk away from that?
Maybe DDJ was told something different from Beilein during recruitment such as "you'll be in position to be the starting PG your junior year once Simpson leaves". Now that's changed due to a new coach/ players and he isn't happy about it
Again all the upset about DDJ, a player who doesn’t fit the system and was often out of control. He’s a decent player but his departure impacts the team very little.
His departure defintetly has an impact on the season after next. He wouldve been a team leader and damn good starting senior PG.
Either he doesn't believe that or there are other reasons for him transferring.
Maybe Juwan has a height bias and slant toward bigger players .. .after all, he played with a 6-7 guard in Jalen....
Zeb might be ready to play from the get go too.
A pox on that pock!
At least your title was solid.
I rushed it to be first, I added a new comment for those that might not follow basketball.
Did making it first make your day that much?
Bryce Aiken was a possible point guard graduate transfer with immediate eligibility. Our next best option is Columbia’s Mike Smith, 5’11” also a graduate transfer.
ESPN link to rankings of basketball players in the transfer protocol:
Minnesota G Payton Willis just entered the portal.
Payton Willis is considered a graduate transfer too. He would have at least been their backup point guard. 6’4”, good defender and passer, from Fayetteville Arkansas. Was a 3 star recruit out of high school. Ranked 149 overall, 29th point guard in 2016.
I hope his father, Clay, is happy
I didn't know Bryce was adpoted.
Our roster is falling apart! Livers is leaving early to the NBA. DDJ and Castleton in the transfer portal. Transfer don't even wanna come to play for Howard! We even have nepotism on the roster!
(Am I doing this right?)
....you forgot one about that the Coach is sleeping with one of the recruit's mother!!!
No surprise....saw some posts yesterday that once they saw DDJ was transferring, for whatever reason, assumed that Michigan had Aiken in it's hip pocker.....ummm, no.
What the pock is goin' on around here?
Can Michigan go after DJ Carton, or is he not eligible this coming year?
Not immediately eligible this season unless he was granted a hardship waiver.
Actually not out the realm of possibility because an OSU football player transferred to Cincy and was granted eligibility based on a mental health diagnosis.
Not unless he comes up with a reason to be granted immediate eligibility.
Is "pock" a naughty word?
Asking for a mom...
Guards (based on projected PT): Brooks/Christopher, Zeb
Wings: Franz, Bajema, Nunez
Forwards: Livers, Todd, Johns, Williams, Jace (w/o)
Centers: Dickenson, Davis
We will still have one open scholarship.
The empty seat is a Beilein tradition. Respect.
was really Aiken for Bryce, oh well
Quit yer bellyaiken already.
From the start I have preferred Mike Smith. If that lanky forward transferring to Duke had played this year with Columbia, I think Smith would be a hot commodity as a distributor. Watch the highlights, he had to do all the scoring himself. With Arizona already picking up a transfer PG, we may be the leader if Howard likes his game.
FUCK YOU ALL!!!
Tell us how you really feel Clarence.
I understand wanting Aiken or Smith, but I think people are underestimating Brandon Wade's ability to contribute as a backup point guard next year.
I'm relieved. This guy wasn't particularly impressive even when playing against ivy league schools. It seems unlikely he would have provided any more than a couple minutes off the bench.
