Brandon pimp hands Hollis
Mark Hollis had good intentions-but made a mistake. Not appropriate to tweet one of our student-athletes. Won't happen again. End of story.

Yeah I'm sure he had good intentions.

Good intentions of trying to lure Trey to the NBA cause Hollis is scared about Blue domination next year!

Did Hoke hack Brandon's Twitter account again?
March 28th, 2012 at 10:46 PM ^
I don't speak twitter but if you read in between the lines of Brandon's comment it reads like this. "I told that second rate bitch that he better not step out of line again. He will not and from now on he will sit whenever he pees."
March 28th, 2012 at 11:20 PM ^
Larry David sits down when he pees. Then again, he also happens to enjoy wearing women's panties...
Yes but it's purely for comfort.
Sitting while you pee is pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good.

Ridiculously hilarious!
I've never been able to read in the dark.

But I thought you sit on the toilet facing the back, so you have that nice little shelf for your comic book and your chocolate milk? Because then you have the flusher right here. No? Jeez, that's embarassing.

Skapanza, I was reading the posts in this thread and while I found them entertaining, I then saw yours and starting laughing my ass off! Thanks for the giggle dude!

Thanks, all credit goes to South Park though. Butters at his best.

South Park references.

Talk about public rebuke. Brandon just made Hollis look childish, to be sure.
March 28th, 2012 at 10:47 PM ^
Man if this is all real, what an embarassment for Sparty.
March 28th, 2012 at 11:52 PM ^
It is. And it is.
March 28th, 2012 at 10:48 PM ^
Totally agree. I'm pretty sure he was just trying to give some friendly advice, but it was out of line professionally.

What good could possibly come from allowing rival AD's to contact our athletes? Actually, Hollis committed an NCAA violation when he Tweeted Burke, nothing major, but it was against the rules.
Beyond the weirdness of it (can you imagine Brandon Tweeting Draymond Green?), Hollis should be the last person offering Burke advice, any advice.

I'm thinking that was directed more at Hollis personally. Either way, Brandon is paid (in part) to play guardian to, what, 500+ athletes? I'd be overly defensive at something like this if I was in his shoes, as well. Given the disparity in status (student-athlete vs. high ranking university executive), Burke can't very well say anything, and it's Brandon's job to intervene.
I think Brandon did a great job handling this. There's nothing MSU can say publicly other than agree, and he's made it clear that he won't overlook behavior like this from his peers.

There is also the possibility that Brandon was receiving many (dozens? hundreds?) of complaints from concerned UM students, alumni, fans, etc. Maybe he felt the need to publicly respond given all the complaints he got?
But I guess you don't need to consider that possibility when it seems you have such direct & inside access to Dave Brandon's psyche, and therefore know all his motives.
March 28th, 2012 at 11:23 PM ^
...that anyone is taking exception to the sentiment, or the content of the advice. In question is the appropriateness of an AD reaching out to Burke at all, and of course the grammar... Fergodsakes.

If you ever read Hollis' twitter eed, the guy is an absolute child with that thing. It often veers way into mouthbreathing-fan territory when, realistically, this guy is the professional face of a major D-1 athletic department. It's about time he acted like it. You'd think he'd have figured out the gravity of his position, you know, the second he took the job.

Hollis is just communicating with his audience haha

Our AD knows how to spell as well... so proud. Brandon = UM Grad. Hollis... you guessed it.

But this will never happen.

Hollis has done a few things now that make me think he isn't up to the job of being AD for a major university. When you screw up bad enough that your colleagues from a rival institution call you on it, you know you screwed up.
And let's hope for everyone's sake that he never ends up at a major university.
We need a "Oh Snap" moderation tag

I still can't for the life of me see how he thought this was a good idea. He had to be drinking or something. He is an AD at a somewhat major University :) and you just can't make mistakes like this. This makes him look really, really bad. Dave Brandon on the other hand.....looks like the man.
