Afternoon College Football Games Thread
Mates,
I came up with a crazy idea: instead of urination contests about Corona, the Gov's order getting ruled unconstitutional, etc. how about we talk about college football? I know what you are thinking, what would a sports board want to discuss something like football for, but just for fun lets do something different.
Some games going right now include:
Pitt 20 NCST 17, start of the 4th
WVU 14 Baylor 7, ~11 minutes left in the 4th
TCU (upset watch) 23 Tex 21 in the 3rd
FLA 38 S. Carolina 24 in the 4th
Later games include Tex A & M @ Alabama
Feel free to discuss other games of American college football. Hope you are having a fine Saturday.

On WTKA right now they're re-playing the 2004 UM-MSU game aka Braylonfest. Since I'm up on an extension ladder painting the house, radio is all I have. Good times.
October 3rd, 2020 at 3:13 PM ^
texting, checking the interweb, listening to the radio, and painting on an extension ladder. talk about risk taking - that'd be enough to scare the flesh off of me.
October 3rd, 2020 at 4:21 PM ^
As long as I can get the ladder secure and stable, I’m pretty comfortable up there.
One thing I never do is drink before ladder time. I try not to tempt Mr. Darwin.

Touching up some trim, or something more significant
October 3rd, 2020 at 7:17 PM ^
Repainting a portion of the front. The house is at least 120 years old, and the peeling, checking, and alligatoring paint I’m scraping seems to be about that old as well. Finished caulking today to seal up the numerous cracks and gaps between the lap siding boards, then wash tomorrow, then prime and paint next week assuming the weather cooperates.

I didn't see your post until they were already to the 1st overtime, so after listening (good to again hear the broadcast team of Beckmann and Brandstatter) I then went to YouTube to watch the entire comeback plus all 3 overtimes.
Thanks for the heads-up!
October 3rd, 2020 at 7:19 PM ^
In his prime, I think Beckmann was as good a PBP guy for football as Ernie was for baseball and Bruce Martyn was for the Red Wings. He and Brandy were a great team.

Watching Army vs. Abilene Christian.
October 3rd, 2020 at 3:12 PM ^
Football? What is this "foot ball" of which you speak?
October 3rd, 2020 at 3:14 PM ^
it's an american game created by drawing equal parts from badminton, ballet and powerboat racing. you'll love it.
October 3rd, 2020 at 3:36 PM ^
Before the rules were standardized in 1873, Miskatonic University incorporated archery into the game.
October 3rd, 2020 at 5:00 PM ^
Ah yes, the fighting fletchers, those merry men
October 3rd, 2020 at 3:14 PM ^
Texas isn't very good it seems.
October 3rd, 2020 at 3:47 PM ^
Sweet Jesus TCU recovered ??
October 3rd, 2020 at 3:14 PM ^
Watching the TCU-Texas game.
On the 4K feed, instead of commercials they just show a field view from the upper corner of the stadium. A couple that have been sitting in view got up, walked up to the camera, and shotgunned their beers. Hilarious.
October 3rd, 2020 at 3:16 PM ^
remember the old schlitz commercials: 'you only go around once in life, go for the gusto!'
October 3rd, 2020 at 3:42 PM ^
I loved the Tuborg Gold commercials. The beer of Danish kings: Go for the Gold!
October 3rd, 2020 at 3:16 PM ^
Seems like a normal Saturday afternoon, except for no Meeeechigan football. Getting ready to make a pot of 3 beer chili then settle in for some football, beer, bourbon and chill!!
Have a great and safe day everyone ?
October 3rd, 2020 at 3:21 PM ^
Let's be perfectly clear, B12 football is not very good.
Oklahoma/Texas/All of Them
October 3rd, 2020 at 3:23 PM ^
Anyone watching Texas and the sound is like whisper quiet?
October 3rd, 2020 at 3:27 PM ^
TexasTE is 6’ 7”, reminds me of Michigan’s old super tall receiver, Paul Jokisch (spelling?)
October 3rd, 2020 at 3:27 PM ^
I believe the correct spelling is “jock itch.”
October 3rd, 2020 at 3:28 PM ^
South Carolina will never need to worry about covid. Their guys can't catch anything.
October 3rd, 2020 at 3:35 PM ^
USC end of game clock management makes Brady Hoke look like Bill Belicheck.
October 3rd, 2020 at 3:44 PM ^
Refs in Baylor-WVU game have really screwed the Bears. Couple big calls went against them and WVU has a solid chance of getting into FG range before time runs out.
October 3rd, 2020 at 3:48 PM ^
Go, Fighting Woodchucks! Beat the Cuckoo Chameleons!
(Getting in the spirit for football despite not having a current rooting interest.)
October 3rd, 2020 at 3:57 PM ^
I'd cheer for Pitt (my hometown team) in the absence of Michigan football, but can't given their head coach.
And the Fighting Narduzzis just went down in flames.
Point of order...do we spell his name Narduzzo, Narduzzi, Narduzza, Nardozi, Nardizzy?
October 3rd, 2020 at 4:00 PM ^
Why snap the ball with 4 seconds on play clock TCU? Reminds me of the MSU game when there was no need at all for a punt if you run long plays so you avoid having to punt at all.
October 3rd, 2020 at 4:06 PM ^
Announcers brought up....that thing that happened in 2015. So nice to know that this moment will be brought up in every game from now on when a team has to punt with a few seconds left on the clock.
October 3rd, 2020 at 4:06 PM ^
How did Tarik Black do for UT today?
October 3rd, 2020 at 4:08 PM ^
Just one catch for 12 yards today. Ehlinger had 4 passing TDs today, but was pretty inefficient.
October 3rd, 2020 at 4:06 PM ^
To hell with Texas, Tom Herman and Chris Ash ... and Pitt and Narduzzi!
October 3rd, 2020 at 4:08 PM ^
Agree. They had no business being #9 in the country. Should have lost last week.
October 3rd, 2020 at 4:09 PM ^
Yeah this is why no one in the Big XII is winning a title anytime soon.
October 3rd, 2020 at 4:43 PM ^
As a vet I will be tuning into Navy - Air Force. Navy now 1-1 after big comeback against Tulane last week. Of course they were blown out against BYU the first game. Air Force hasn't played yet, this is their first game but they are at home (if that matters). Navy favored by a TD and I believe they will just cover.
October 3rd, 2020 at 10:11 PM ^
Well that didn’t age well. Go Air Force!!!
October 4th, 2020 at 10:42 AM ^
Wow Navy has 2 blow-outs losses already! Time to go into the yard for an overhaul !!
October 3rd, 2020 at 10:35 PM ^
Iowa State sure seems to shit away the easiest games but play it's best against Oklahoma
October 3rd, 2020 at 10:59 PM ^
Aaand Mississippi State just lost at home to Arkansas.
But Mike Leach and all that shit.
October 3rd, 2020 at 11:03 PM ^
I really never understood the Mike Leach love, but I'm glad the universe corrected itself and had his team blow a winnable game against a bad team at home the week after a big win.
October 3rd, 2020 at 11:01 PM ^
BTW, a week after running over LSU Mike Leach returned the form and crapped away a game at home against Arkansas. Perhaps the SEC isn't as good as we all think, or at the very least not demonstrably better than the other conferences.
October 3rd, 2020 at 11:15 PM ^
Same as most years, they have 2-3 teams that are much better than their other teams. This year its Bama, Georgia and maybe Florida. The rest are average teams like every other conference.
October 3rd, 2020 at 11:12 PM ^
Enjoying Iowa state pulling ahead of Oklahoma with about 4 minutes left in the game.
October 3rd, 2020 at 11:18 PM ^
Oklahoma vs Iowa State:
23-23 with ~10min left in 4th quarter: what a low scoring Big 12 game
37-30 ISU; ~3min left: ah that’s more like it
October 3rd, 2020 at 11:22 PM ^
Oklahoma going down again - good times. Schadenfreude of watching Lincoln Riley go berserk is strong.
October 3rd, 2020 at 11:26 PM ^
Remember when Louisiana Lafayette beat ISU? Transitive application: La Lafayette >> Oklahoma
October 3rd, 2020 at 11:27 PM ^
It's not too late to cancel the season, Lincoln Riley.
October 3rd, 2020 at 11:28 PM ^
He better get to withholding that Covid info that he talked about - needs a competitive advantage pretty badly now
October 3rd, 2020 at 11:27 PM ^
Down goes OKLAHOMA!!!
October 4th, 2020 at 10:44 AM ^
I bet they turn it around but they're out of the playoff hunt now. Alabama has to be the favorite as of today.
