Afternoon College Football Games Thread

Submitted by xtramelanin on October 3rd, 2020 at 3:06 PM

Mates,

I came up with a crazy idea: instead of urination contests about Corona, the Gov's order getting ruled unconstitutional, etc.  how about we talk about college football?  I know what you are thinking, what would a sports board want to discuss something like football for, but just for fun lets do something different.

Some games going right now include:

Pitt 20 NCST 17, start of the 4th

WVU 14 Baylor 7, ~11 minutes left in the 4th

TCU (upset watch) 23  Tex 21  in the 3rd

FLA 38  S. Carolina 24 in the 4th

Later games include Tex A & M @ Alabama

Feel free to discuss other games of American college football.  Hope you are having a fine Saturday.

On WTKA right now they're re-playing the 2004 UM-MSU game aka Braylonfest. Since I'm up on an extension ladder painting the house, radio is all I have. Good times.

Repainting a portion of the front. The house is at least 120 years old, and the peeling, checking, and alligatoring paint I’m scraping seems to be about that old as well. Finished caulking today to seal up the numerous cracks and gaps between the lap siding boards, then wash tomorrow, then prime and paint next week assuming the weather cooperates.

I didn't see your post until they were already to the 1st overtime, so after listening (good to again hear the broadcast team of Beckmann and Brandstatter) I then went to YouTube to watch the entire comeback plus all 3 overtimes.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Watching the TCU-Texas game.

On the 4K feed, instead of commercials they just show a field view from the upper corner of the stadium.  A couple that have been sitting in view got up, walked up to the camera, and shotgunned their beers.  Hilarious.

Seems like a normal Saturday afternoon, except for no Meeeechigan football. Getting ready to make a pot of 3 beer chili then settle in for some football, beer, bourbon and chill!!

Have a great and safe day everyone ?

TexasTE is 6’ 7”, reminds me of Michigan’s old super tall receiver, Paul Jokisch (spelling?)

Refs in Baylor-WVU game have really screwed the Bears. Couple big calls went against them and WVU has a solid chance of getting into FG range before time runs out.

I'd cheer for Pitt (my hometown team) in the absence of Michigan football, but can't given their head coach.

And the Fighting Narduzzis just went down in flames.

Point of order...do we spell his name Narduzzo, Narduzzi, Narduzza, Nardozi, Nardizzy?

Why snap the ball with 4 seconds on play clock TCU? Reminds me of the MSU game when there was no need at all for a punt if you run long plays so you avoid having to punt at all.

As a vet I will be tuning into Navy - Air Force.  Navy now 1-1 after big comeback against Tulane last week.  Of course they were blown out against BYU the first game.  Air Force hasn't played yet, this is their first game but they are at home (if that matters).  Navy favored by a TD and I believe they will just cover.

BTW, a week after running over LSU Mike Leach returned the form and crapped away a game at home against Arkansas.  Perhaps the SEC isn't as good as we all think, or at the very least not demonstrably better than the other conferences.
