Remembering that we are dust…

Remembering that we are dust and to dust we shall return. (It’s Ash Wednesday)

Did Valentines last night.

About the Ohio state 3rd&4:…

About the Ohio state 3rd&4: I went back and looked at the UFR. They were in shotgun 4 wide on that play. According to the charting every single one of the 14 times Ohio State was in gun 4 wide they passed.

regarding Harbaugh knowing though, I think this turns into a “it was his job to know” situation and we’ll see what the NCAA does with that . . .

17-7 Michigan. Rutgers…

17-7 Michigan. Rutgers defense much better than any faced thus far this season.

The offensive line needs to…

The offensive line needs to learn how to hold. Just watched some of OSU-GA and just about every key play for OSUs offense featured major holding that allowed stroud the time he needed to make throws downfield. Meanwhile our offensive line was too honorable and just watched blitzers fly by

The way that happens is this…

The way that happens is this: the model works by running 10000 different simulations of the rest of the season. Percentages are based on the number of times a specific outcome occurs within the set of simulations where the specific outcome you select occurs. When you click on as many specific results as OP did the number of simulations where that specific set of results happened is much lower than 10000. With this lower sample size random chance plays a much bigger role and in the simulations with TCU winning the 30% chance we beat Ohio State came up in favor of us in more simulations than in the set of simulations with TCU losing, just by random chance.

Yes! Which is definitely not…

Yes! Which is definitely not an opinion I expected out of long winded and full of wonderful tangential stories Craig. Alas for poor old Tom. He saves the hobbits from the willow. And the barrow wight! And in between is a whole lot of not advancing the narrative . . .

(I do like Tom but mostly I’m just glad to see him referenced on a football podcast in any fashion)

I will not countenance Craig…

I will not countenance Craig’s vicious Tom Bombadil slander

Really good to see the…

Really good to see the sparties actually get called for at least some of their unsportsmanlikes, even if they’ll still never get called for them against us

Colorado in March is either…

Colorado in March is either gorgeous or snowing, there is no in between. It’s the snowiest month of the year along the front range!

Fivethirtyeight article examining odds/rankings from before and after the NHL announcement that NHL players would not play. TL;DR is that Canada is the biggest loser, followed by the USA, and Russia the biggest winner as they draw nearly all their players from the KHL.

I think (and please correct…

I think (and please correct me if I'm wrong) that Onwenu comes in as a 6th OL on the end of the line in some packages, so technically a tackle but really just there to maul people in short yardage.

Well I assume they’ve been…

Well I assume they’ve been having practices as well as normal end of semester projects/studying for finals and when I got my booster I was out with a fever and aches for about 12-24 hours after my shot so my guess is that in order to prevent the immune response to the booster from sidelining them they waited til finals were over and they were going to not be practicing for a few days due to Christmas. But then again peak immunity post booster is two weeks later . . . At least immunity starts going up again after a few days.

Ohio State beat them 66-17,…

Ohio State beat them 66-17, so I think that's "the blowout that we all want"

Colorado college, not CSU Colorado college, not CSU
Georgia has only made it…

Georgia has only made it once actually. Most years they have a “beat X team (usually Bama) and you are in” game that they have only won once since the playoff started. Always in the mix but most often barely on the outside. Your overall point stands though, Georgia is always a serious contender in the national conversation for most of the season so it feels like the same ol same ol.

Go Blue!
Is that 1 vs 2 game…

Go Blue!
Is that 1 vs 2 game going to be broadcast/streamed anywhere?

watched a bit of field hockey during the olympics and it and rugby (especially 7s) are definitely two sports I wish I could watch more often.

And did I sense some…

And did I sense some DISRESPECKT when he declared that Lucy talk is only allowed after a hypothetical Penn State win and not after a hypothetical win over a currently #11 and undefeated Michigan State?
EDIT: I see he clarifies this at the end of the podcast

There's no n in the spelling, but it is properly pronounced as if there is one.

If six sweet sixteens, four…

If six sweet sixteens, four Elite 8's and two championship games in the last 6 tournaments is getting "bitch slapped in the tourney" I think most teams would be happy to get bitch slapped in the tourney . . .

I think Scott Drew just had…

I think Scott Drew just had Baylor run the same play as Bryce Drew’s 1998 shot to get that pre halftime three

Eh I think it’s a foul, just…

Eh I think it’s a foul, just one that’s not called at all ever in the Big Ten

Wow. Getting fouled on the…

Wow. Getting fouled on the last shot with no call was absolutely the most thematic way to lose this game.

That Harbaugh call is really…

That Harbaugh call is really interesting and good to see, wasn’t one of the criticisms of his recruiting from insider types that he wasn’t directly involved enough with the top top guys?

Looks like close to the…

Looks like close to the landing (expected to occur 3:55pm EST) there will be a detailed visual (looked like video game-esque graphics)  showing what's happening based on the real time data coming in.

He even looked to make sure…

He even looked to make sure his head would be there before he threw the elbow and I’m supposed to believe it’s a normal basketball play!?!?!?

Bartleby reference made…

Bartleby reference made reading this column about that drudgery of a game totally worth it.

Even if I'd prefer not to.

Hate how faking the slide is…

Hate how faking the slide is now a viable juke move for quarterbacks

Harbaugh did the same thing…

Harbaugh did the same thing 2014-2016 and then apparently drove off a cliff so high the program is still falling.

Absolutely. If you haven't…

Absolutely. If you haven't read "Three Nights in August" that follows a Cards - Cubs series in 2004, you should. It's a really interesting dive into the intricacies of what he's thinking as a manager during that series.

I was so relieved when the…

I was so relieved when the flag came in to call OPI on Minnesota there. And then they called DPI. What. How.

Exactly. This is news…

Exactly. This is news because MSU had no in-person classes this fall.

Someone with the username…

Someone with the username yossarians tree complaining about ironic snark makes me want to believe that this post is itself intended as ironic snark

Two full seasons living and practicing in Ann Arbor counts for nothing?

The article does briefly…

The article does briefly touch on that aspect of this

Both I think. My main point…

Both I think. My main point is that Jim Caldwell's tenure may have been, from an outside perspective, thoroughly mediocre, but as a Lions fan who got to pay attention to playoff picture tables for four straight seasons, it was wildly successful. I don’t ask for much, I know.

Hahahahahahahahaha

Hahahahahahahahaha

They fired Jim Caldwell for this.

Oklahoma vs Iowa State:

23-23 with ~10min left in 4th quarter: what a low scoring Big 12 game

37-30 ISU; ~3min left: ah that’s more like it

Blake Corum has so much…

Blake Corum has so much muscle on his 5' 8" frame that BMI classifies him as obese. Barely, but still.

Edit: The top level of the roster page has him at 200, but the full bio section has him 193. The above was calculated with 200lb

Aren't most of the "fires on…

Aren't most of the "fires on campus" due to the COVID response and fall semester plans being perceived as not safe/strict enough? Which would be the opposite of the sort of "fires" that would give the president impetus to vote yes?

For all it's problems and…

For all it's problems and health risks, that picture of Brunell and Kennedy together with the observation "These two men play the same sport" is part of why I enjoy football so much. There's a position on the field for just about everybody, no matter the height/weight.

False. There is a pool in…

False. There is a pool in that video. An inflatable one in the lower left.

I definitely did. When the…

I definitely did. When the news of his death hit and I found out he was 43 I was pretty surprised. I thought he was at least 10 years younger than that.

Yes, although it is now…

Yes, although it is now looking like Hurricane Laura could be plenty of disaster all on it's own. The forecast now calls for Category 4 at landfall and storm surge up to 15-20ft in some areas. Luckily it is going to come ashore in the relatively unpolulated area of the Gulf Coast between New Orleans and Houston, though of course that's little comfort to the people who do live there. Lake Charles, Beaumont, and Port Arthur are all pretty near the forecast landfall point. Lake Charles in particular looks like it could be strongly affected, as it is forecast to be on the stronger right side of the storm where the forward motion of the storm adds to the wind speed.

This didn’t end up happening…

This didn’t end up happening, as Marco ended up getting sheared apart as it approached land and was thus too weak to have any effect on Laura, which is currently forecast to make landfall as a category 3 or very close to it.

A whole post of stupid plays…

A whole post of stupid plays and the 2013 last second field goal vs. Northwestern to send the game to overtime isn't even mentioned is a good indicator of just how many stupid plays there have been.

Edit: I see now that "half of all games against northwestern or Indiana gets a mention, I am partially satisfied.

I think there can be…

I think there can be exceptions if you’re doing it for a charity? Not 100% sure.

. . . The NCAA hasn’t…

. . . The NCAA hasn’t already given up all pretense of amateurism?

I think the point is that…

I think the point is that either 1) he takes the player option and stays in Cleveland or 2) he rejects the player option and becomes a free agent who no one will pay as much as the player option is worth. So really it should read "Andre Drummond, nobody is paying as much as that player option" I suppose

I believe it was "seducing an unmarried women" or some such garbage
