GQ- Brian Cook referenced in GQ!!! Seriously!!!
So I'm ready the GQ profile on Deadspin's AJ Daulerio and what appears in page 3 of the story? Brian's name and reference to MGoBlog complete with his Daulerio ESPN rant.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is the first time Brian has been featured in GQ! And he didn't even have to shave his beard or wear skinny jeans.

Brian and bareback should never be in the same sentence...

Haha, "Brian Cook, of the sports blog MGo..."
MGo. It sounds so.. futuristic.

I chuckled when I read that line. Also, I suggest others read the story... it's a solid read.

Welcome, GQ. This is what we call the "in-ter-net."
January 19th, 2011 at 10:09 AM ^
My girlfriend always refers to MGoBlog as "MGo".
January 19th, 2011 at 10:12 AM ^
Misopogal calls it "the blog," and the people "your Internet friends."
January 19th, 2011 at 10:47 AM ^
My wife doesn't feel the need to even qualify it with "Internet"--it's just "what do your friends think about Hoke?" and the fact that she's talking about MGoBlog is implied.

B- Co.

at first it was called MGoBlog but he met with Sean Parker in NYC one night and found it sounded much more smooth and cool to drop "Blog" and call it "MGo."
January 19th, 2011 at 9:54 AM ^
...the owner of this blog is not OT for this blog.

Hey Lama! How about a little something, you know, for the effort?
January 19th, 2011 at 10:03 AM ^
AJ Daulerio is an ASS. HOLE.
January 19th, 2011 at 10:03 AM ^
But will MGO (hah!) lose its subversive aura? When will Brian be hosting SNL?

The title of that post is awesome.

I honestly did not know that bit about Saulsbury showed his dong on his cell phone to a woman. Geesh, how many idiots are out there? I will never understand how so many guys get in trouble for sending pictures of their dongs to women. How in the world can you think that is appropriate or that they will even like it? I wouldn't even send that to my wife, and she LOVES my dong. Seriously, how this even happens once let alone multiple times blows my mind.

This from a man who has Mr Rogers as his avatar. You may have just ruined my childhood.
January 19th, 2011 at 3:52 PM ^
Fred Rogers had an exquisite dong.

Guess I don't have to worry about getting an e-mail from you with the subject "Fresh Meat."
January 19th, 2011 at 11:27 AM ^
Who said anything about emails? I said sending girls texts with your dong is dumb, emails are totally cool. Check your inbox

AJ is even more of a dick in my mind after reading the account of posting that video of a girl that might be getting raped. What an ass:
Daulerio now says he wishes he hadn't run the video. "It wasn't funny," he says. "It was possibly rape. I was trying to kind of put it in that same category [as the Dallas video]. I didn't really look at the thing close enough to realize there's maybe something a little more sinister going on here and a little more disturbing.

Agreed, but "thinking before speaking or acting" is not really the MO of Daulerio, or more importantly, his boss, Nick Denton. There was a great profile of Denton in the New Yorker a couple of months ago in which he pretty much said that he doesn't care if his blogs (he's the head of Gawker media) get a story right, as long as they get it out first. And his authors get paid based upon the number of page views their posts get, so the more salacious, the better. It's a business model that gleefully shirks responsibility and accountability.

Signs of the times, profit-motive running amok.

That doesn't just describe Deadspin, it seems to describe every other media outlet these days as well. It's actually refreshing to hear somebody at least admit that their goal is to piss people off -- I won't hold my breath waiting for the people at any newspaper, sports talk radio station, or ESPN to do the same.
January 19th, 2011 at 1:05 PM ^
Seriously, you find that "refreshing"?
Think about that for a minute.
January 19th, 2011 at 10:22 AM ^
or, better yet, we all should just stop reading deadspin/all gawker media sites, because that's just how they roll.

I clicked on the link for the list of the 25 Most Douchey Colleges and was glad to see both Ohio State and Notre Dame in the top 25.
